Then why is it there in the first place other than to force the user to spend?
I understand the sense of progression. I get it that games sometimes benefit from "unlockables", it does keep the player playing.
However, when it comes to sports games, "unlocking" extra stuff (like an ABA ball for example) in my opinion is ok, but locking features that are supposed to be part of the core experience is a big no-no. It's not only rotations, which are supposed to be "cheap" (can't believe I am saying that being able to apply rotations is inexpensive), but the whole picture. MyGM looks like a rock solid game mode with great features, but its VC implementation really makes it look bad.
Just look at the most critically acclaimed and successful Manager game, Football Manager. An amazing day-to-day Manager simulation, with a great sense of progression and with absolutely no need of hindering the experience with fake coins.
