A ported version with next gen graphics would have been better than this at this point. At least we would have had some better online(there's basically no online In next gen) no missing features, no missing progress or anything else that was in my career mode current gen which was taken out. People are just in denial.

I applaud all the other companies delaying their games. Of course I wasn't at first but after playing a half baked game I fully support and understand why. They care about their customers and want to make sure their $60 is well spent. And because they have done that, in the future I know who I should support and who I shouldn't.

At some points the base you have to work on just won't cut it moving forward, and you have to take a leap of faith to make sure you have the ability to easily innovate in the future. And that's what NBA 2K14 next-gen is. A bold step. Sure, I understand that it isn't a perfect product and that some things that were in old-gen are not in, but they weren't taken out because of a conspiracy to spite the userbase for a few years and then bring them back to be bathed in praise.

The amount of discussions I and others have been having around the office based on the feedback we've gotten since the release is astounding. Take that for what it's worth.
      Ok, fair enough. Point taken.

So, here's a question that maybe you can answer...
(or may already know the answer to.)

On next-gen consoles, will I be able to "create-my-own" player… and assign said custom-player to my favorite team… in the 2k15 version of this game? (or anytime before then?)

Aside from MyPlayer Mode… Does 2K have any plans to add that "create-a-player" feature back into the next-gen console game?

I'm just trying to understand if the deep-customization & 'personalization' features that 2K has built-in previous versions of this game…. will EVER return.

Taking a bold step toward... "easy innovation in the future"… is commendable.
      So Bravo!! Mission accomplished.

But, taking a bold step toward... a fundamental change of direction which completely eliminates certain game modes & features forever… is a whole different story.

If it has become a deprecated software feature, and it's never coming back… some of us want to know the 'hard truth'. That's all.

      Your feedback is much appreciated.

      TIA

I think all the new modes will eventually come. But not this year. Deal with what you got now.

Eh, say what you will but there is a reason sports games are never considered top tier high quality games and are full of problems. I for one wouldn't mind seeing what the devs could do with more time. And just paying for a roster update until the next version is released.

2K has a contract with the NBA to release a game every year. That's the end of it. Also, the reason sports games are never (except this year maybe) considered top tier games is because most gamers aren't avid sports fans, so it's still considered a niche genre.

There's no doubt that is the best 2k ever made graphics and gameplay wise. I'm confused on how they took out association mode and customization. Association mode was an awesome way play a franchise with the depth. Also the customization is nonexistent. Create a player is gone and rosters are confusing as ever. I know in current gen I loved creating a player and starting an association mode instead of mycareer. I'm just not into the whole myplayer and I'm sure I'm not alone. I just think 2k could've kept the customization and rosters how they were on current gen.

Fair enough about the contract. But i disagree, the reason sports games are never considered top tier isn't because it's a niche genre(sales disprove that). I honestly believe it's because they're made yearly, meaning the quality won't be as good as games that get to take their time to iron out problems and aren't rushed. It's kinda like how COD comes out every year and doesn't really improve much. A year simply isn't enough time in most cases

LMFAO. In case you haven't noticed, Ubisoft has also released numerous Assassin's Creed Titles every single year since 2007. (roughly 8-10 of 'em). So 2K is not the only video game company that puts out 'yearly' products.

Anyways, 2K is wholly-owned by Take Two Interactive... which also owns Rockstar Games (who makes Grand Theft Auto).

Better believe Take Two has enough money & resources to hire an ARMY of game developers & 3D artists to keep up with the yearly 2K NBA schedule.

So let's not act like 2K is in some "unique" position, all by themselves (in terms of deliverable schedules) as compared to other shops.

They have the resources to meet their deadlines.
And the money to HIRE more, if need be.

Its a showcase for the next gen. Considering the dev cycle and time frame they probably have, we should be happy there are any game modes. I think the game looks and plays so lusciously good, I sincerely don't mind the omissions right now.

This thread is devolving into a debate about the omission of features. It shouldnt be about that.

It should be about how 2K addresses the omissions to their fans.

And they havent. We have yet to hear a peep.

Like I said before, we as a community would be far more forgiving with some explanation even if it wasnt the one we want to hear
