It was definitely toned down. Still not perfect..but now your franchise isn't wretched due to stupid trades. But be weary...players on your team ranked 75ish or higher will still start grumbling about starting eventually.

I'd like to see an adjustment that is tied to the Coach Settings...

Have a slider for each coach that ranges between an 8 to 12 man rotation and have the players on that team "understand" what they're "signing up for"...

For instance, players 9-12 (plus inactives) don't b*tch about not playing much for a Coach who is "known" to use an 8 man rotation...

Currently, the USER and CPU players think that all teams should use a 12 man (plus) rotation for every game...

      Which isn't realistic...

      Also:

If a player who is "fed up" (or any of the "unhappy" results) and they become injured, they're STILL unhappy about playing time...even though they CAN'T play due to injury...

Love the idea, but the implementation has needed a tune up for years...

I play with roles on, but Chemistry off and it's still too "touchy" regarding player reaction to minutes...

Heck, most players b*tch even when they're playing more minutes than their real life counterpart EVER does / did...

Re: 2K needs to patch player roles NOW and not wait until next year.

It needs to be cleaned up and made more realistic. Every starter in the NBA doesn't see 30+ minutes per night and some coaches - Gregg Popovich being the prime example - manage minutes throughout the season.

Other than Tony Parker, every Spurs starter is south of 30 minutes a contest and has his minutes monitored. Saying that, even Popovich uses a 10 man rotation and usually doesn't go beyond that. Roles need to be made more similar to 2K10 while also being given even more depth and reasoning. Otherwise, we have starters playing too much - skewing statistics and over taxing them - while bench players aren't playing enough and thus complain. Don't dumb down MyGm so that the mass can blindly enjoy it, but give it depth and challenge so they can understand why teams (and players) are constructed and function in different ways.

A personality type needs to also be added to help with the Ginobili, Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams type players that ratings wise should start but wouldn't in real life.

Side-note: I commend 2K because the patch cleaned a little bit of this issue up. They need to go further though if they want sim gameplay, statistics and more realistic team building.

          Co-sign to this!

They need to find a way to make "6th Man" and "Role Player" more of a "complement" and less of an "insult"...

Any role below starter (or star) is treated like a slap in the face, unless it's an upgrade from Bench Warmer (or occasionally Prospect)...

I also feel that the "role" should be tied to the contract signed and not be able to be changed until the next contract comes up OR a new HC comes into the mix...

A player would be a Prospect until his second deal, then assigned a role for that second contract and his happiness would be tied to what he signed up for and what kind of Coach / team he's on...

Players IRL become unhappy when they sign up to be a 6th Man or role Player for a Coach that uses a deep bench and then after that coach is replaced by on that uses a shorter bench, end up with a lesser role, less minutes etc...

          Lastly:

Bench Warmer should mean just that!

They don't play unless injuries force them into the rotation...

Since the patch I've had little to no issue with player roles. I think there may be 5-6 players who are upset throughout the league and none of them are on my team. It's definitely a huge improvement over what we saw at release.

Yes, like the earlier 2K's player roles that actually had descriptions attached. They need to return to that so we aren't limited to a few vague choices.
