True, but morale plays too big of a part in this game for it to work that way unfortunately. Team chemistry is a big part of player overall and team overall.

Teams see unhappy players, they see bad chemistry and they get traded ASAP. Once again, it player morale wasn't such a big deal, we wouldn't see such crazy trades.

The thing I'm worried about is when patch three comes, and they tune player morale, we might not see ANY trades

Yeah I was thinking about this as well. If trades are primarily tied to the player role system, then once player roles are "fixed" and most players are happy, how would there be any trades?

I remember a few years back on CG there was a year where trades only took place during the draft. We'd be lucky to see two in the first year during the regular season, then after that, basically none happened the rest of your association during the year, and I mean zero.

I wanna say it was 2k11 or 12.. But that was kinda ridiculous and ruined the mode for me. I feel like since player morales is the driving factor in trades, this might end up happening with the patch

I hope patch 3 is coming sooner rather than later.

In the 3rd year of myGM I signed 3 free agents (well 3 important FA's) all rated between 74-77. All 3 of them wanted to be bench warmers, I bumped them up to (2 role players) and (1 6th man) during our conversations (during free agency). They all signed with me and I gave them their appropriate roles (Which we agreed upon during free agency) after 15 games (11-4 record) all 3 of them are "heated" or "fed up" and morale is down by 5-10 points??

Had to trade all three of them because their morale just kept getting worse and worse, even though they were in the roles (better than the ones they wanted) and we were winning. They were getting 20+ minutes of playing time per game too.

I think I'm going to have to wait for the next patch to continue playing.

In addition to the ability to veto trades the other band-aid fix would be the ability to reset Player Morale. In CG 2k's I always liked to play with Morale on, even though it was as flawed as it is now. The good thing about it was there was a workaround to reset it if you saw the need.

resetting players morale is already in the game at a price of 1200VC.

Regarding potential...

Why not work out something like what the MLB2k games had? A guy has a max potential (2, 3, 4, or 5 stars), and if he's playing well and he's young, he can reach it. But if he's struggling or not playing as well, he won't realize his full potential yet.

It's kind of tough to explain.

1 Star = Decrease in ratings next season.
2 Stars = Small Decrease in ratings next season.
3 Stars = No increase or decrease next season.
4 Stars = Small increase next season.
5 Stars = Large increase next season.

Say a guy like Anthony Bennett has 5 star potential. Obviously, he won't realize his full potential while shooting 22% from the field. So his potential will be, I dunno, 2 out of 5 stars full, with the other 3 stars empty, but still there, showing he can still be a 5 star potential player. But since he's at 2 stars, his ratings dip down a little (SKILLS, not athleticism).

So obviously, once Bennett reaches his prime, he loses the 5th star. After his prime is over, he loses his 4th, so he can no longer have large increases. As he grows older, he loses his 3rd star and his athleticism will deteriorate.

Or a serious injury could knock you down a few stars? ''' like Bynum or Derrick Rose?

Yeah Leftos has confirmed for some of the issues (permanent injuries, blank dialog screen) that they have been fixed for patch 3. Although I haven't seen any mention of player roles.

Exactly. But don't make it so after every serious injury, a guy won't ever be the same. Look at Russell Westbrook. He went down last season in the playoffs, came back a month ago, and he's been killing it since.

It'd need some sort of 'random' factor with it.
