^They could at least patch in the option to turn player roles off. Don't know why anybody thought taking that option out was necessary.

FYI, we're working on some tweaks to Player Roles for Patch 3. We obviously can't re-design the system, but Leftos has worked on some tunes that we're in the process of testing right now that should improve it.Dave Zdyrko

amen. Tired of Tony freaking Douglas being pissed all the time for not starting over Steph Curry... especially considering he has actually started half my games due to various injuries. Still has a disposition of Irritated even when his role is StarterComment

Thanks for that communication! And for the effort to try to address some if this via patch.Comment

Awesome, will we see the return of the option to turn off player roles?Comment

Don't believe so. The menu stuff is harder to patch because it requires an art/data change. I'll inquire about it, however. The tunes to how the roles work will hopefully improve this enough where it'll no longer be a big negative issue for some.Dave Zdyrko

Re: 2K needs to patch player roles NOW and not wait until next year.
One of our goals for MyGM was for it to be more of a controlled experience. And since balancing player and staff happiness is something we are using to drive the conversations, we didn't want users to be able to turn the system off completely.Dave Zdyrko

For 2K15 you and the rest of the devs should consider the option of converting the NG season mode into CG association mode. There seems to be a lot of people that don't feel the conversational administration MyGM has turned into and really misses that mode. Thanks for the effort! If you like my work I appreciate any help: https://www.paypal.me/s3anbarkl3yComment

Re: 2K needs to patch player roles NOW and not wait until next year.
Even if user roles were improved, users have different interpretations of what a believable and fun experience should be (although the roles implementation is widely agreed to be broken), so customization maximizes the enjoyment factor for the most people. Sure, some might go and break the game for themselves, but that's on them, as the defaults are obviously the recommended settings.
So I'm also not sure I see any actual benefit to removing such customizable features for the end user. Much of the fun is having the game play the way you think it should and being able to fix things when it doesn't.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't remove sliders, because their removal can be justified by the same ideology.
I do hope the thrust to provide a more controlled experience isn't driven mainly by the fact that VC is now involved and that designs have to protect the "value" of VC first rather than placing priority on customizability, gameplay, and fun. (Having to play 8-10 full length 48 minute games without improving your player just to get an arm sleeve is not fun)

Re: 2K needs to patch player roles NOW and not wait until next year.
This statement is the exact reason why everyone is upset about this mode, so hopefully you guys can rethink your strategy and make the mode more user friendly, rather then more of a controlled experience, one of the worse things people can do in video games or life in general is take away options and force the people to do things a certain way.Comment

Re: 2K needs to patch player roles NOW and not wait until next year.
That, I imagine, means a whole lot of things. It means reduced player customization and editing was a goal. It means local game saves and local roster saves are removed by design.
I understand the philosophy here from a game play design perspective. In MyGM, for example, the game is now a more developed game strategy and role playing game, so you don't want that to all be broken by player edits. And I'm betting 2k has plans to expand MyGM into multi player format the way EA has allowed for 32 player leagues in CFM.
So the goal is to migrate all data and options into the central cloud storage environment, allowing for more centralized game management from 2k's perspective. And not accidentally, it makes consumers wholly dependent on whatever VC system you put in place for the long haul, so in the future, the game is not software people buy, install and own, but software they purchase as a service (SAS).
The problem is, as with any such business shift, removing user control and customization creates a lot of problems and backlash. I hope 2k finds the right balance, and works with its customers to maximize the amount of customization and minimize the amount of obnoxious toll booth gouging in the way microtransactions are implemented.
It's not good news that you're sharing, but not unexpected, either. EA added player editing back into CFM without also allowing ratings edits. And other than coding and memory allocation/storage issues, allowing traditional edit control in the 2k cloud should be possible, just as it is with local storage.
How about this: 2k can sell a one time storage/setup fee to players who want full customization back in the 2k cloud, and the consequence to the buyer is they may not be able to participate in some online modes or leagues the way default customers do? Everyone wins. I bet a lot of people would accept that compromise. Or make it a separate subscription service to be able to customize, for a small monthly amount for storage, if your bean counters prefer ongoing revenue. Personally, I think gamers would resent the subscription fee more than they would the one time initiation fee.Comment
