    Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?

I have just signed up to this website just to vent my frustrations about this game. I don't think I have ever been more disappointed in a game then I am with 2k14. Purely because I just had faith that they would release a quality game, like they have every year.

To be honest, I didn't really do much research on the game as I just expected it to continue with what they have done well for so many years. I have probably played 2k since 08, and only ever play Association Mode. So I was just expecting that play the Association mode as I have for the last 6 years. Control the league to be as realistic as possible, whilst building my Bulls team.

Then I played the game for the first time this week. I simply cannot believe how many features that they have removed from the game, and just concentrated on gimmicky crap.

Anyone that plays Association mode knows that the CPU logic is terrible. But in the past that was ok, because players had the ability to control the league, or at the very least fix the ridiculous decisions the game made. But now, when Lebron James decides he has had enough of winning championships with Miami and sign with the Orlando Magic, there is nothing that you can do about it.

The game has taken away so much control, that was necessary because of the terrible CPU logic. Now we are stuck with overpowered Rookies, horribly inaccurate player rankings, terrible contract signings and idiotic trades. There is simply nothing you can do about it now. Thats not even mentioning the embarrassing VC in MyGM.

I have barely had the game a week, and will probably just sell it. I will certainly pay close attention to next years release, and if none of this is fixed there is no chance I will buy it.

The NBA 2K series in the space of one year, went from one of the best sports simulation games to one of the worst.

          Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?

I have never participated in a thread like this before. Typically I expect most video games to have a few bugs and glitches and I usually just find a way to workaround them. NBA2k14 is the first game that I've ever had issues that I couldnt work around.

Let me give you the background: I own a 360, One and a PS4. I bought the game for the 360 because of how limited My GM mode is and because I prefer 30 team control. I've been playing my season along with the real NBA season since opening night. I also bought the game for the PS4 just because at release it appeared to be one of the best games out.

So what happens? I go past the all star game in my 360 version and start to realize that no more injuries are occurring. I do a little research and realize that this no injuries bug has been in the game for the past few years and 2k has never bothered to fix it. The only reason I hadnt seen it in past years was because I usually sim the All Star Game but this year I played it. So that pretty much trashed my 360 season because who wants to play a season with no injuries?

Am I mad? Nah, I say to myself "I still have the ps4 version and I can play NBA Today games if I need an NBA fix". So I pop in the ps4 version and the audio drops make the game unmanageable. Read up on that issue and realize 2k hasnt issued a patch or even responded with a planned fix. Their twitter guys are quick to hype up a release but are unresponsive when it comes to serious issues.

So what do I do? I say "yeah it sucks about the audio issues but I have a One also. I'll just get the game for the One since that one doesnt have the audio issues". Well what happens? The One version has issues with the roster and NBA Today. I'll play NBA Today games and players who are on injured reserve in real life will be starting in the game.

I'm over it and its my fault. I've given 2k over 100 bucks looking for a workable game and all theyve given me is ****. I shouldve done more research before buying I promise you if they dont eliminate this always online, bug filled, roster limiting ****, I will buy Live or spend 10 bucks on a used 2k13 PC version and rely on the mod community for updates.

Never been more disappointed in 2k as a customer.

            Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?

I agree that this year I am very disappointed as well, coming from a association standpoint.

The headband glitch is annoying, but not game breaking. The problem for me is that for every fix it caused another issue.

The big issue for me is they patched player roles. The trade engine is so heavily tied to that that there is only a few trades per season now.

I also do not see CPU trades in the Draft at all any more. I know people say they still see them, but I have simmed numerous different seasons and played on 3 seasons in the future and have only seen maybe one or two draft day CPU CPU trades.

The audio cutting out and no audio coming from the center channel adds insult to injury.

I too prefer the pc version to next Gen.

I am interested to see how they handle the 2K15 campaign. Will the publicity folk continue turning a blind eye? Or have things gone badly enough to force an honest and prolonged acknowledgement of shortcomings leading up to the next iteration's release?

                  Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?

I've played this game For 3 days straight since I got it. While there are definitely some irritating things about the game, nothing is game breaking. I just waited 10 minutes for a park game and got some good teammates, only to be kicked from the game halfway through it. I've had issues with the game locking up right before a match and also I'm irritated that so many outside shots go in. I had a close call in career where I started practice only to have it lock up within the first 3 seconds. Luckily, this board had an answer. While I'm extremely happy with most aspects of the game, these sure are annoying. But with that being said, I would take this game over current gen any day if the week.

They came through with the trailers being accurate. The game on the court is next gen. The modes and online are obviously bug ridden. But the game itself is next gen

With the problems with 14 ignored, launch day sales for next year will be slowed down, but there are too many nba fanboys like me who don't care. Lol. I will buy 15 on launch.

Yet another time I forgot how much of a piece of **** the netcode in this game is and went online only to be dumbfounded how 2K could mess up what was a great game on last gen to this ridiculous state. Defense is non-existent, lag makes it impossible to pass the ball, players don't spot up with space the floor and 4 out offense. No matter what you do just driving to the rim through 8 guys gets you a 60% fg. On defense I'd have an easier time staying on my man in an NHL game. Feels like I'm skating with blades that I smashed a rock against before the game. How can anyone play this mess?

Can someone who is playing this game explain how they can stand the INSANE LAG that's in every online game? I've had better response times playing Diablo 2 on a 56k modem.

We don't play online. Least I don't. I play offline , on the couch with my 2k friend and I play my season. Online is too far gone for me. I'm cool with it, but I know people really are into the online goodies, me not so much. Actually went back to 2k12 for now. Still my favorite. Something about it!
