    Re: Did We Get Bamboozled?

Man 2k had a golden opportunity that they completely squandered at every opportunity.

People were bitching about Madden and Live, saying how EA was this and that and they were tired of the EA BS.

Then along comes 2k, the supposed savior of sports gaming, and they just totally blow every chance they had and in fact look worse than EA now.

They implemented this terrible VC system which right away leaves people with a bad taste in their mouth. Paying $60 for a game that has them wanting you to pour more $ into. Not to mention the game seems very incomplete.

Then the constant crashing/unplayable games and modes for a lot of people.

Then to make matters worse the communication is absolutly horrendous to the customers. Giving very broad answers and at times not even responding to peoples legit questions.

Then they release a patch which is now not fixing anything and in a lot of peoples cases is breaking the game for people that previously had no issues!

Add to that the rosters are a month and a half out of date after the promise of daily updates and you have a recipe for how NOT to handle a release.

Just totally and inexplicaby botched at every turn and they have no one to blame but themselves. The door just opened a tiny bit for NBA Live next year if they can put out anything remotely decent.

Have to agree with the MyCareer. Super cool idea without a doubt. I like it far more than the old boring game after game crap. I just feel like you guys that its WAYYY too scripted. Sure occasionally there is your person out there who meets these crazy demands and enjoys this.

For one like many other I was subbed out for an entire half then thrown in and told to hit a shot. It bounced off the rim (mind you I got a pick that made me wide open) and missed even on a perfect release/maxed mid range.

Or the goal to get alpha dog. You have to get 25 points and blow the other team out. Yeah... that'd be cool but it seems like despite my team contesting shots the other team still hits their shots non stop. As well as we are blatantly missing open shots.

But this mode totally isn't scripted.

2K please patch as many current gen features as you can to this game. I hate going back and forth to current gen (association and rosters) and next gen (gameplay and graphics)

MyGM and MyPark modes is better than the current gen offerings, you guys knew all the modes or whatever you wanted werent going to be in the game before its release, the game was released not even a month ago, give it some time for patches to fix the glitches...The only thing that bothers me the most is the VC costs....Other than that, everything else is nitpicking and can be fixed in patches....

Personally, Im having a blast playing this game for the PS4, just give it some time guys...Just remember this is the first step of a long next generation...

I mistook having to equip the knee pads to each knee as purchasing them twice. Completely idiotic on my part is all I can say really. Didnt think about it before I posted. Once I saw your post I sat back and thought about it and realized I was wrong on that aspect. Next time before I vent on a frustration I will make sure what im saying is correct before hitting submit reply.

With that said I really hope they scale back on the implementation of VC. Its ruining the game atleast IMO. I think its a cool feature and adds to re playability giving you something to work for while playing. But everything is locked behind VC and you dont earn enough in game to enjoy the full experience of 2K14. You have to play an insane amount of hours or purchase it. I think alot of us share the same concerns on VC. You put all those hours in earning VC or spend your money on it then your mycareer glitches halfway through the season and you have to start over basically sending all that VC to waste and its a problem.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

Read this on 2k forums and thought it was spot on:

Someone at 2K needs to communicate the details of this. This is not some sort of Christmas surprise. Your fans, YOUR CONSUMERS are tearing down your forums and all 2K has to say is: "Check it out fans BIG 3rd patch on the way." What's in it??? What have you corrected??? Is there create-a-player? Couch Co-op? Can we save settings and rosters locally? Did you put association back in??? Can I find a stable game online? Can I play a round of playoffs only??? Can I simulate games instead of playing all 82 games??? Can I set my season length to something shorter than 82 games? Can my MyPlayer finally look like me instead of Mike ******* WANG!!!???!!! These are the questions that people have AND THEY DEMAND ANSWERS. 2K really needs to respond and make it right with the fans.

"Hey guys, we ran out of time during development, but wanted to give you something to play. The modes and features that you love and expect will be included in the following patches." (List detailed patch notes below)

                OR

"Hey guys, we ran out of time during development and released the game AS-IS. We have heard your feedback and your satisfaction is our #1 goal. Please bare with us this year as we iron out the kinks. We understand that you paid $59.99 for a game that we know had 1/2 the features you are used to. Please hang on to your copy, DO NOT TRADE IT IN. Next year, we will offer NBA 2K15 for $29.99 with the proof of purchase for NBA 2K14. YOU PAID FULL PRICE FOR HALF A GAME, WE WILL OFFER YOU A FULL GAME FOR HALF PRICE."

If 2K did either of these things, I think everyone would shut right up. Why? Because they would know that 2K had their backs. Make no mistake, the lack of features and development pisses people off. The perceived "Money Grab" pisses people off BEYOND BELIEF! Releasing a game at full price with half the features? And all of those features are built around purchasable VC??? Unacceptable.

The third option, of course, could be, "Hey fans, we're actually staying silent on most of these issues because we're heading in a new direction and your wishes are not consistent with that direction. Fortunately, we're now making enough money from enough random people that our priorities have broadened and it's no longer about the simple art of creating the most realistic NBA simulation of all-time."

At this point, I don't think 2k really cares. We've purchased the game. They have their money. It's obvious they are going in their direction, making decisions for the people that are paying THEM!

Releasing a patch that doesn't work or give us details about what the patch is, basically told us to screw off and enjoy the half game for full price.

Well guys, I've officially thrown in the white flag. From all the bugs, crashes, omissions and computer cheesiness, I just can't do it anymore.

They've changed gameplay again, it's infinitely worse than it was on launch day, and I'm not sticking around for another roster update or patch to see if it improves. I won't even get started on the VC crap.

This is the best nba sim we have available, but there's a ton of work to be done, especially on the gameplay side of things. Until they significantly change the way the way the rate their rosters, or eliminate the CPU rebounding and crash the paint at all costs cheese, I'm just done.

These new systems were not worth the upgrade right away, I'll be selling this game and seeing what they bring to the table next year. There's a good chance they've lost a 13 year loyal customer, though.

I'm on the verge of doing the same bro, and I've had the game for 5 days (it was a present, didn't have the intention to buy it).

There're so many things to fix and I see any chance of a relistic enjoyable experience so so far that I think I won't ever have fun with this game. Graphics are great but sincerely, I've haven't seen a huge difference in gameplay (indeed I've found control a little bit choppy compared to the PC one).

Vlad Zola Jr releases tomorrow his RedMC editor, so it was the last incentive I needed. Customization here I go!

Am I the only one missing game modes?

I am on xbox one, and (for example) I have looked everywhere, but do not see a path to greatness mode anywhere.

I always thought I got the **** end of the stick playing PC versions of this game, but as it is now, it seems the next gen version is actually worse than the PC versions I've played in the past, and that is *really* saying something. The only gain is being able to play with friends (which is why I got this on console in the first place).

But, I seem to be missing game modes. You can't customize the controller layout? Seriously? Can't have freedom over rosters or save them locally? Seriously? Even if I could play with friends online, it's not like we could play with a custom roster, as I understand it. And, on, and on, and on...

People need to stop buying this garbage. Completely common sense, basic functionality (you should be able to create multiple profiles, and playbooks and controller configuration should be tied to individual profiles).

So, where is the path to greatness mode on xbox one? I've been in every menu, and I cannot find it.

2k keeps putting out garbage, and people keep buying it, it seems. I don't know if bball gamers just have terribly low standards, or have never played a game with proper, basic functionality or what, but this is terrible. Maybe if folks started skipping the game one year, 2k would actually get up and do something.

Judging from the trash they are releasing (and apparently selling very well) it seems people who play this game are more concerned with what clothes their players wear when they get off the bus, than a game that lets you have freedom over your rosters, working online, freedom when playing with friends, freedom to play the game your way, freedom to customize your controller layout. freedom to do just about anything that common sense should dictate, and standard functionality that has been in games for decades.

It would sure help if reviewers actually gave these games honest critiques so people like me didn't get fooled into buying it (again), instead of shilling for the companies who give them goodies. Moving from PC to a next gen console version, I thought, would finally allow me to fully enjoy this game. Boy did I get bent over, yet again. As it is now, this game is worst on next gen than 2k13 was on PC.

The state of this game makes me think that people who play it have terribly low standards, and/or care most about playing dress up, rather than basketball.

I wonder if it is just that people continue to buy the game, or if a lot of the customers are people like me who get fooled and don't realize what trash it is until they actually buy it.

Last 2k game I will ever buy. Fooled too many times by this garbage, false promises, and b.s. reviews. I've been a basketball fan since the late 80's and am someone who has played basketball video games going all the way back to Jordan vs. Bird... I've watched them devolve into trash that inexplicably sells millions of copies, gets rave reviews, and far too much cover provided by their even more inexplicably rabid fan base.

Shame, too... b/c the gameplay is actually pretty good on 2k. But, this game was soooo bad, it made me buy nba live (old school Live fan, here). I would settle for the lesser graphics and significantly less fluid gameplay of Live 14. Only problem is, it has the same problems and worse that 2k14 has in every other way. Roster management is actually worse (see: non-existent) in Live, can't customize controller configuration, etc, etc, etc.
