Starting the season from the day it was in real life was interesting, but u like to have my own stats and my own record, I don't want to play with stats or a record that I didn't contribute to. But to each his own. I also don't believe in simulating games while others just play 5 games in a season, simulate to the playoffs and then play. Everyone is different, but from my perspective mygm is an improvement without question
Great argument. Calling many people's opinions stupid because you disagree with it. Many people do 30 team control as the CPU moves are incredibly unrealistic.
All MyGM is is a stripped down version of Association mode with a few extra things. I shouldn't have to spend VC to edit my rotation (even though it is a one time pay). What I think ticks me off the most, is that they force you to make all of these decisions and interviews and goals. What was great about Association was that while it was very in-depth, it was a simple concept to grasp, and that simple concept branched out into many other concepts that veteran players could use. It's simple, MyGM plays the same for everyone, whether you're new or old, while Association could have many people playing it in a much different way.

I apologize, I don't mean stupid in the regard you are taking it, I mean it doesn't make sense.

Regarding the other stuff in your post, give me a few minutes, I am making a thread for this.

IMO some of you guys just want flat out nonsense features that don't make much sense for a game developer to actually leave or put in a game at all.

Trust me the way you feel is in the very low minority if it even exist beyond you. I have been a 2K fan from day one and the majority of offline fans expect and want this. If you were to do a poll maybe you and one or two other people wouldn't want these features.

You're definitely in the minority buddy. I don't know where you get "unrealistic" out of more control. The whole idea of 30 team control or any kind of user control is to mirror the transaction, minutes, line-up, signings and draftings that are happening in real life. At the very least it allows us to administrate a more logical path for teams.

Its not to control who loses and who wins. Its to override the inability for the CPU to make the right choices. Right now we are smarter than they can make the GM/Owner AI. It'll be a long time if not impossible to completely represent how things go down in real life.

According to who? You? Most offline players I have seen have said 30 team control is definitely an essential feature, IF the CPU logic is still terrible. And the CPU logic is still terrible.

Re: Do you miss Association Mode?

Throughly enjoyed my 2K14 experience on NG until I realized that there was no 30 team control and trade logic is absolutely horrible. No option for allowing/disallowing CPU trades is just ridiculous. I'm now struggling how to force myself to play a game mode where I have no control over rosters and CPU moves. Call me old fashioned, but I enjoy playing with realistic rosters. If I wanted to do a fantasy draft league, I would have chose to do so. Thank you for taking that decision away from me, 2K...

A poster on this site pointed out this control they have taken away from the consumer is designed to compel us to buy VC.

It's a textbook example of taking stuff away from us then charging us to get it back.

Im sure you can override a CPU trade if you spend VC. It's shameless.

Yep, exactly. I would expect this from a company that I shall not name, but not 2K. That hasn't really been their M.O. It's a real shame.

Re: Do you miss Association Mode?

I honestly miss Association Mode. MyGM is a total fail. It makes no sense for a personality badge to disappear after a trade. If I want two Alpha Dogs on a team then I'll have two Alpha Dogs and deal with the consequences. Or if I simply trade for a draft pick that personality badge disappears.

I also miss the 30 team ability because some of the trades I get away with just don't make any sense. I traded Ish Smith for a 2014 1st round draft pick from the Sixers and Dragic and a 2015 pick for Harden.

MyGM like this game needs a lot of work and the customization needs to be brought back to the consumer.
The Buzz is Back in the Queen City. Cho........I have no idea what you are going to do in this draft man.

2k please go back to classic Association without all this VC nonsense in 2k15

I've been playing 2k since 2k5 and I've enjoyed every game apart from maybe 2k10. For the last 7 years, every October I bought NBA 2k and dove straight in to Association. Without fail this would happen every year, and I enjoy that aspect of the game - downloading draft classes, building a franchise and playing 4-5 seasons until it's time to get hyped for a new 2k game.

Sadly, I've been feeling like 2k's success is going to their heads. Granted, they've given us the best basketball sim in the market and 2k14 is a good game, but there are fundamental aspects of the game you shouldn't change. It started with 2k13 when they got Jay-Z as executive producer and he ruined the the presentation (inserting his concert footage pre-game), and of course the terrible soundtrack, as well as the blinding gold background and equalizer bars everywhere. The gameplay for the most part was good but there were quite a few AI problems. I'm digressing, but I'm getting to my point.

I am an avid basketball sim fan, and when I waited for the next gen release of 2k14 over the current gen, I thought I was getting a fully featured 2k game. Instead I got a half finished game riddled with glitches, Association being hidden and lumped up with MyGM, and the worst of all, VC having a wider scope on the game.

Why did you destroy a fundamental feature of any sports game like Association and making it more like an RPG game where I have to complete certain objectives to collect VC to then buy upgrades like trade negotiations and managing rosters? Why can't I edit players stats in Association? Why are the menus to confusing to navigate? Why, why, why?

I'm aware Live is a joke now and you're more or less trying to have a monopoly on the basketball game market, but you don't have to completely break the game and alienate the core fan base by taking away all these features in order to make it look like some EA game. I can't speak for others, but I sure as hell don't want VC, just like I don't buy coins or gold packs, or care about Ultimate Team in EA games. I want something like 2k7 or 2k11. A fully featured game, with great gameplay and a developer that actually cares about our complaints, even if it's stuff like knee pads or having the NBA logo on headbands adjustable.

I started an Association with the Warriors and can't bring myself to even finish a season, I just didn't care. It's so bland and boring (Association), and I'm thinking of trading in the game for something else - I have never traded a 2k game before, especially in January. That's unprecedented.

Re: Do you miss Association Mode?

Aside from being forced to deal with horrible CPU trade logic, the thing I hate most about MY GM vs Association Mode is not being able to control rotations. So you end up playing against teams who have the wrong starting lineup and players don't play appropriate minutes. Every team decides that they have to play all 12 men on their roster in every game which in my case makes it impossible for me to lose. I like to be challenged when I play, but I know I can take over the game when the CPU has in its 10th, 11th and 12th man on the floor at the same time.
“Better learn not to talk to me. You shake the tree, a leopard’s gonna fall out.”
                          - Aimed at JR Smith, who had directed some choice words at Bryant during a 2008 Lakers-Nuggets playoff game. Kobe finished with 49 points and 10 assists.

Re: Do you miss Association Mode?

2k14 is a game that has a lot of potential in all aspects but falls short due to the fact that 2k had to rush the product in time for next gen launch. In my personal opinion 2k15 MyGM needs 2 additions in order to be perfect.

1.) Elimination of VC. Go back to a points system that doesn't have monetary ties. Or, if you're going to keep VC, then MAKE SURE it can be earned when simulating matches and completing other goals (such as having a player named to the All Star Team), because no one can be bothered to play all 82 games in a season.

2.) Greater variety in Draft Class faces, OR a completely revamped and in depth CAP system that allows us to make detailed, realistic looking faces, as well as the ability to EDIT rookie faces.

There should be a poll, but the answer is a definite YES. I loved all the control association mode had. Sadly it seems like the devs are hell bent on taking away control, and giving a more "controlled" experience instead.
