Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
they took a step forward with live audio overlay in the draft for mycareer, granted its half assed that they only did it for a few players
why not add live audio overlay for the kind of generic gameplay events...dunks, blocks, quarter enders, daggers, so on.
like when lebron gets a dunk occasionaly overaly this audio (10 sec mark)
<iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Tag9UmmFfY8" allowfullscreen="" width="420" frameborder="0" height="315"></iframe>
this stuff, its overlayable (atleast im lead to believe it is)

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
Do you play MLB the show? And if so, we could REALLY use dedication to this area of the game over in those forums as that game doesn't have great audio either, while the rest of the game is mostly superb.Harvey's BetterComment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
Truth. I have a lack of understanding as to how games are created, but I still can't help but wonder what prevents 2K from 1) recognizing in-game sound effects are poor (crowd, rim, dunks, shots) and 2) adding much more authentic effects in their place. They make adding realistic crowd noise seem more difficult than draping their entire game with a fictional coin ecosystem.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
im not sure about the difficulty of it but i know its completely possible to make it much more life like...its just a matter of wanting to put the time in and from these past 2 games trend it looks like anything not VC related gets no dedicationComment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
Its audio man. No way am I making light of their work as I said, I think the actual arena chant music is on point to be honest by arena. The sound is just unbalanced and wrong with it comes to on the court with the rim on some jumpers and dunks..its just not right.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
It would be cool to have varying sounds too.
Like a poster on someone if the team's down 20 wouldn't be as exciting if the team was in a close game...
Or like, defense chants in the first quarter vs. defense chants up by 2 in the 4th.
I noticed the sounds when you dunk too, they sound horrible. The only way I can tell how hard I dunked is by my controller vibrating.
You know that sound when a big guy dunks hard and you hear the ball slam off the back of the rim before it goes in...I want that.
Oh and pins. When someone comes flying outta nowhere to pin a shot on the backboard it needs to sound like a gunshot going off.
It would be cool if 2K could get TNT presentation...I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
I always wanted 2K to be able to make realistic Arena crowd sound different from each other. You can't tell me that the Bucks or Bobcats arena is just as loud as the Warriors or Bulls Arena.San Francisco Giants

Or if someone on the Sixers turns the ball over a couple times in a row and we boo them louder than we do the whole team at the end after a loss lolI don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
While watching some videos of 2K15, I felt it was worthwhile to re-iterate that sometimes dunks don't make much noise, whether from the Press Cam or with a mic on the rim. It's quite possible to dunk while hitting the rim, but not breaking it away and most certainly not inducing a kicked garbage can response. It makes little sense in 2K15 to hear certain sounds on certain dunks - they don't match.
Example of "silent" dunks. They happen all the time:
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/qlUhfg7MJ8Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'll have to look a little closer, but either the 2K sound byte for a "rim breaking away" dunk is used for all dunks, or maybe the rim automatically breaks away on every slam (I feel like I've seen moments in 2K where the rim shouldn't breakaway but does anyway).
Maybe in many cases it'd help if 2K at least lowered the volume of dunks. A lot of them make some noise, but it typically does not come across as abrasively as it does in 2K.Last edited by VDusen04; 10-19-2014, 10:27 PM.Comment

Re: Improving Audio and Atmosphere
i know this is OT but its kinda funny that according to a large number of people here, essentially none of those shots from the last video in the first post should have went in.Comment

Ha, also just noticed that video was titled, "Best Game Winners of NBA History." Crazy how Michael Jordan's game 1 winner in '97 is the only notable game winner to occur before the year 2004.Comment
