this i agree with. im just saying that 2k needs to focus more on ai for 2k15 than any other area imo.

And btw I thought nba 2K was about controlling all 5 players at the same time? Wasn't it the argument on here? Why would you want the AI to decide what's gonna happen... I seriously don't get it.
i was speaking strictly from a realism standpoint. if youre playing bball irl you dont decide what your teammates do. sure you can call a play or call for a pick from someone but after that your "control" of them is gone; they cant read your mind so they have to make their own decision of what to do next. i would like that to be reflected in the video game world. personally i play my career more than any other mode so i would like to have teammates that make intelligent decisions without me having to do it for them. the whole idea of that mode is to only control one guy.

of course that entire experience would rely on the developers being able to make intelligent ai with a high basketball iq which has not been their strong suit thus far.

Sorry but I can't agree with you. There is no such thing as teammates. I'am not controlling one player, I'am controlling the team as a whole, I wasn't talking about myplayer mode here, are you?

Double tap the pick button for the big men to fade

That way you can read and react to what the defense's doing and it's not a stupid AI or a tendency that decides the outcome of the play.

That's it. Don't take control away from the player.
What if you want the big man to slip the pick? They do that a ton IRL.

if they get the ai and tendencies correct then having the ai decide what to do would be great. and speaking from a realism standpoint you really should only be able to control one person at a time. if they can get the ai to a point where they make intelligent decisions then i would much rather have the ai decide what to do after setting a screen (if im controlling the ball handler).

but if they cant make the ai do the right thing then the user should be in control. of course even the way it is now the ai portion of the pnr doesnt work properly. half the time the roll man rolls away from the basket or doesnt roll at all even if thats what i call for. bottom line is that the ai needs to be completely redone from scratch to make this game more realistic.

Once you press the pick button the big men rolls so you can slip no problem.

I've always been puzzled by how 2K does the PnR game. In real life, the screener decides what he's going to do based on how the defense is playing him, the ball handler doesn't decide two seconds in advance of the pick being set. You should just be able to tap B to have a pick set for you and then the roller will just roll, pop or slip depending on his RL tendencies and how the defense is playing him.
Optik should the AI roller/ fader always select the right move in that situation or should the tendency dictates what he does even if he is not open ? If he always selects the right move then the defense could force a roll only player to always pop out... IE cheese. Interested on what you think should be dominate if anything ?

Have a basketball game where you will need to use a brain and strategy is against the " more accessible " direction 2k wants to take the game. Their target audience will be outraged if learning plays, post moves, shot releases, player tendencies etc etc are required to be successful in the game. They want highlight dunks over 3 defenders, 3s being easy to make, and 1-3-1 to be the beat defense ever created .

im referring mostly to my player. but the option should be there for other modes as well. if you want to manually control everything your team does you should be able to. if you want some things to be done intelligently by the ai without requiring you to dictate their actions you should be able to do that too. choices are always a good thing.

but again i only want the option for the cpu to make decisions if they are going to make intelligent and rational choices. if they are going to slip the screen when their defender isnt hedging and the paint is already crowded then its pointless.

Very neutral, but yet well defined, description of what most of us can assume about current NBA 2K games. Most of us fell in love with the "hardcore simulation" direction they seemed to take, nowadays the "pick up and play" direction is spearheading the future.

I think it should be tied to tendency primarily, but I also think that offensive awareness should be factored in. We all know what players like David West and Dirk are going to do when the come off the pick 95% of the time, but because they're smart offensive players, there are sometimes when they will take the defense unaware and roll to the rim. There needs to be a balance though, where if the defense continually plays the wrong way against Dirk, then he needs to roll to the rim everytime until they adjust. Players like Plumlee (BKN) usually do the same thing: slip or roll.

Better player and ball movement helps this a lot. There needs to be more spacing on the floor , and players move faster than the ball in this game man. And paint defense needs a lot of improvements .

Re: Does 2K Even Care About Making the Game Realistic Anymore?

There is just so many flaws in this game, it feels like an unfinished product...a last thought, last minute thrown in. I question if 2K ever test this online because if they did, they would have known. And if they did, they probably don't have time to fine-tuned it and had to rush it. What a shame. Here are the things i hated about this game:

                            1. In bounding the ball. I have to tap (count them) 5 or more freaking times just to get the ball in bound after the opponents scored. I can't do it quick? Why? Or to make matter worst, sometimes i had to wait for my teammate to finished the turnaround animation before he can pass me the ball lol. This is so stupid. My hair just about to be pulled...it's so damm frustrating. Look, if it's in the game, put it in the game. NBA teams scored and inbound right away to do a fastbreak all the time. Why can't this game do the same? Purposely disallowed it because there is flaw in the game? Exploitation? C'mon man, clean this up in the next version.

                            2. How many times do you see a through pass or icon pass right to your player without connecting them? Even though they're open and there is no pressure from the opponents guarding the dude i am about to pass the ball to. Seriously, this is a serious flaw...a major one. This is no difference than the long football passes that mysterious failed to connect 99% of the time.

                            3. The heavy use of animations for almost all part of the gameplay is one of the most frustrating part about this game. If I am guarding player A and went over to double player B, but as soon as I reach my hand to try to steal or something, why does it take forever to recover from the "REACHING ANIMATIONS"? As a result, player B will always ALWAYS get that wide open look. C'mon man, this ain't real. Why can't i commit a slight reach or fake reach-in and then went back quickly to cover player B? Again, this is not real true to real life NBA...so get rid of this crap please. It's so frustrating. It's not fun and it's not true to life.

                            4. The layouts during game time. Please clean this up as well, I don't want to see pop up screens out of no where telling me how great certain player is compare to a legend. This prevent me to do things such as setting up strategies or substitution. You had to bypass that screen in order to do anything. Oh and once it's bypassed...oops it's game time now...there is NO TIME to select anything. Do 2K even play online? I mean all these layouts scores and standings are cools and all but can't you make it so that you don't prevent or interfere with the users ability to select or set up strategy or doing sub? That's the whole purpose of the game, to make it intuitive easy to use and fun to play. This game failed in almost all parts of it. I question whether 2K take priority of fun factor over simulation because it doesn't seem like it.

FINAL thoughts, one more thing I need to add: I feel ashamed for playing this game online. This is the ONLY game that does this to me because it violates my skills as a gamer. I consider myself a pretty good smart gamer. I feel it doesn't seem to dictate a user skills in the game due to the uncertainty of the gameplay. When i play online, I KNOW some of the players i play against on the other side are not very good players or even just a kid. And yet, the game allows them to be able to compete because it is heavily rely on computer assist and not much of human skills and I already notice this as I played on. Pretty shameful really. The uncertainty part of the gameplay that I mentioned above (such as heavy used of animations as game play) have violated so much of my skills as a gamer that i have to constantly fight with this freaking game and it's very frustrating. 2K needs to realize this and change the way they design their gameplay. I know for a fact that THIS is the ONLY basketball video game out there and there isn't much competition. Therefore, it automatically makes 2K game a success every single year by default. But that doesn't mean that this game is great. It simply means there isn't much competition. It didn't help EA sucks at their game too.

Definitely agree with the inbounding, so many times it ruins a fast break or allows a cheesy full-court press to get set.

But you're on the money with what I quoted. I've been playing My Team lately trying to get to the first seed, and when I play the 'casual cheesers" i get 20 point wins, but like someone else said you go up against the cheesers who actually know enough about basketball to mix in some knowledge with their cheese and it's just ridiculous.

I hate being dunked on, because any good dunker with posterizer can spam into the paint and dunk on ANY rim protector. It's just ridiculous...Not just because of how many dunks happen but because it happens over and over with no penalty to stamina lol.

It's like night and day when I play this game. Sometimes it's so fun I can't put it down, then 20 minutes later I'm like "2K is insulting my knowledge of basketball with this ish."
