Every prospect should have a cap on every single rating. I think that it would lead to more variety and specialty players down the road. Think of it as "potential" of a given skill. Take shooting for instance. If I am scouting a prospect that I really like. Everything is good to me except his shooting. His mid range game is a C-. With a rating that low, this particular player would have a cap at like C+ or B-. Now this could vary. Regardless of how much time I spend developing his jumper, I can never get it past that cap. This dude will always have a sketchy shot. I'm thinking D Wade here. The same thing can apply to every rating. Rebounding, defense, ball handling you name it. So you could take a low rated guy, who may never amount to much in the league, and keep him around because while he is never going to be an all star, he has value because he has one or two skills that have an A potential. There would be actual strengths and weakness to every player. What makes LeBron so special is the fact that he has so many skill not normally attributed to a man that size. He is a generational freak. Take a guy like Melo. He's an offensive monster, but he will never amount to much defensively. His defensive cap should be a D+ to a C. So if I control the Knicks, I would put a premium on finding another 3 that was either good defensively already, or has a high defensive "potential". That's one thing I think would add life to the draft classes and force us to actually construct a complete team.

How can we help improve the 2K generated draft classes?
I'll start:

It really makes playing an association longer than a few years impossible, because all the rookies become 90 overalls and every team has a starting five with all 80s and above.I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

They won't improve them. They know that, like rosters, people make exceptional draft classes that for the most part fix the issue of high overalls in the league.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: How can we help improve the 2K generated draft classes?
potential in three or four general categories though would be AMAZING though if done right. take a guy like lebron for instance; in his first NBA season, he was a crappy defender but because of his lateral and overall athleticism, he ended up being a really good defender down the line.
or even melo with scoring; he was a crappy three point shooter in his first NBA years but he had a high potential for scoring which later down the line, he became a great scorer.
What it would look like for the top 2014 prospects:
Joel Embiid
Scoring: B | Defence(Post): B+ | Post: A-
Potential: A- | Potential: A+ | Potential: A+
Andrew Wiggins
Scoring:C+ | Defence: B+ | Post: C
Potential: A+ | Potential: A- | Potential: C
Jabari Parker
Scoring: A- | Defence: C+ | Post: B
Potential: B+ | Potential: C | Potential: C+Comment
