Re: 2K Sports should be embarrassed by this game.

You can't really judge any of these next gen games by their first next gen release. If all else fails at least you have NBA Live to fall back on and any company who thinks they can do better is welcomed to challenge.
Imagine having a crap sports game and no other choice but that game. Until NBA Live or someone else proves otherwise NBA 2K is the best their is right now. Plus your main complaint is The Park, I think you're taking that game mode to seriously.

Honestly unless Live gives them one hell of a competition this year and for this generation I doubt they bother to fix a lot of the lingering issues. Why bother to fix things when your the one big title in town for NBA games. If Live succeeds and I think a lot of us want it to then 2K might get the head out of they're backsides and try to fix a lot of the crap that has hindered these games for a long time.

it is not a problem of competition, imagine nba 2k11 with Jordan and nba live 11, which game do you choice?
and the contrary, nba live 11 with Jordan and NBA 2k11 without Jordan?

nba 2k12 for me was pretty good and nba live 2012 didn't come out!
the big big big problem was nba 2k13, even if it was good, not enough new feature (no classic team but justin bieber) and everybody bought nba 2k13 lol... and i don't speak for nba 2k14!!

I mean if 3 point shots were toned down just a bit, so I'm not constantly having shots hit in my face because someone has deadeye that wouldn't be as bad. If defenders were laterally quicker than a player with the ball, it wouldn't be as bad when a guy's running back and forth getting open someone.
If when I try and throw a wide-open pass from like half court and my guy didn't run out of bounds, meanwhile people throw a full-court pass next possession into coverage and somehow actually make the catch?...wouldn't be so mad.
If I'm playing park getting spammed by 3 guys smashing the steal button and I get stripped..then I try and do it and instantly get a foul called...

I could go on and on, you see what I mean tho? There just needs to be more consistency in what you can and can't do, what does and doesn't work. 2K needs to really sit down and play their game before it comes out and see what they think could be exploited and brainstorm ways to combat it. Or just come on here and get some opinions..I mean we play the game, we know what's wrong with it.
Sorry but I had to emphasize your point above - so you get mad when someone's successful at doing something, but somehow you're not able to the same thing. I severely doubt the game has it in for you, or is purposely cheating you and wants you to lose. So to some degree you have to acknowledge the people being effective using certain tactics while you are not comes down to them having more knowledge to perform such tactics.

I'm sure there are things 2K could/should do to improve gameplay online. As someone that doesn't play the game several times a day, whenever I do play online or offline it's easy to see the game is being tweaked - because I notice subtle animations I haven't seen or movement I wasn't aware of.

As someone that primarily plays offline, I would hate to see online dictate the game's direction. Offline everything can be controlled - including your own play. While online all it takes is a few idiots to completely ruin the experience for everyone. I seriously doubt 2K throws online out there and does nothing, or doesn't play their own game as you say. I'm sure what could get exploited gets thought of; I think it's silly not to think that. But that's so open-ended - again, who thinks to do some of the silly ish people choose to do online? Imo the best way to curb misfits online is to seriously limit what can be done, so that it can be controlled and accounted for. But if you want the freedom to do anything, you have to deal with the possibility that there are a lot of people out there that will take advantage of it.

            You missed the point...

It's pretty cheesy to throw the ball into a crowd of people and come out with it...regardless of if this person knows how to do it successfully and can replicate it, or just got lucky.
It's not cheese to throw the ball up the court if no one's there...yet when I try and do it the ball goes flying out of bounds; thus giving the impression I've been cheated out of a score for good basketball while the other player is rewarded for bad basketball.
I'm not saying it only happens to me, I see it happen to everyone regardless.

I'm not even saying to limit what we can and can't do, I'm saying it's 2014 and every year's there's exploits online that they can't seem to get straight and have a fair game against someone. If you don't primarily play online you probably don't see the recurring problems as much as someone who does..because you wouldn't have said that they don't play their own game..
I'm honestly under the impression they don't, or they just don't care; the issues like being over 6'10 and incapable of rebounding is literally game breaking to me. I've actually lost a few games because my center was getting out-rebounded by guards in the 4th.
I've had someone play Durant at the 5 against my Sixers and he was making Nerlens look like a baby just by spamming the spin out of the post move...

I'm just saying, just because 2K can't make the online balanced or not so easily exploitable, doesn't mean we should take it as the norm and chalk it up to having a-holes playing the game. Because I loved playing quick ranked all the way up to 2K12 and while there was exploits, it wasn't even close to being as bad as now. 2K shouldn't push modes that require you to play against other humans if they can't balance the game.
There's so many easy fixes for the issues I could go on and on but it's a waste of time honestly..

Maybe the game you loved so much was never that good to begin with. Or as you got older gaming isn't even the same and things that were fun.. Either way 2k gameplay reached its peak for me and its all bells n whistles now and ooh real voices.

Gameplay hasn't reached the peak because 2K14 last gen was better so as long as they can get it back towards that then I could say maybe they hit the peak...
They need to try and mix in like last gen's 2K14 and 2k11's gameplay then start working on the extra stuff.

They care too much about stories in my career and different color my team cards instead of focusing on gameplay issues and how VC rules everything.

Yes, we're all agreeing that gameplay needs work. My point still stands that the last 3 years gameplay has gotten worse, not better. I even notice now that gameplay has gotten worse since I started playing this iteration. How is it that everything they've attempted to fix by patching the game has actually decreased user input exponentially?

Each year this game has loads of issues, then they release a few patches before they completely give up on it and work on the next sequel. They introduce new features every year and ignore past bugs. The sad truth is they have no competition so they don't feel necessary to fix anything.

NBA Live isn't competition? 2K makes the best basketball game period and no one can make a basketball game better, bottom line. They beat out the competition fare and square, they didn't buy out the competition, 2K earned the position they are in now. The only reason I am not complaining about 2K's issues is because I know for a fact that it's the best basketball game available, I don't wonder if such and such can do a better job.

This logic is the reason why the game has become horrible. They earned the spot of being the best, so now they can just release garbage until someone else comes along?

I got a question? Is it true that this game on ps4 does not allow for any roster as far as updating the new draft picks on there team? if that is the case, what makes this game even playable for future status ? how could they release a game, that doesn't allow this? xbox one even allows for this ? and even Madden allows you to create or edit your own rosters, not just take players from other teams, turn off commentary and imagine whos who lol cmon....im going back to pc, neverbuying this garbage again, except for the show! done yo...

Anyone who can stick up for the PS4/X1 version of the game simply cannot consider themselves a hardcore sim-head.

OP is completely right. I'm not a big MP type guy, but the way the game FORCES you to play if you want to win is UGLY. It's no longer based on the fundamentals of basketball, folks. 2K has, after various tweaks over multiple titles, transformed the game into their own version of the sport. It's sad to see, actually.

Unfortunately it took me playing Live 14 for hours and hours until I realized what had happened to 2K.

The game is no longer basketball. It's ALL about the spectacular plays. The dunks, huge blocks, barrage 3's, etc, etc. Its the game no longer rewards you for making the right basketball plays, because EVERY play is the right one in this game. Your mistakes don't hurt you. And that is a FACT.

I'm remaining somewhat optimistic for 2K15, but the more I analyze past titles.... Im just not sure 2K will get back on the right path. After all, why would they? Money isn't an issue, and unfortunately that's all that drives most these days.

The main problem with this game (besides the input lag, the slow and hercky animations and the lack of customization) is that you don't need to play basketball to be succesfull, any clown without any clue of basketball can beat you just because they use unstoppable superstars and the game does not penalize enough bad decissions... it doesn't matter whatever they do it will be effecive, in the meantime you are not rewarded enough for trying to run plays and run a more realistic kind of basketball...

                              Cheers! ;-)

It's a shame because just because not all companies are like that. MLB The Show has seen incredible profits year after year but they continue to put out a fantastic, sim-driven game.

So it doesn't HAVE to be an "either/or" situation. Unfortunately, 2K is one of the titles that believes it should be.

What's really sad is that that it's not as if the people at 2K are being lazy. They're not. They're putting a lot of effort into this game. It's just that they're putting in all of their effort into pleasing a very non-sim crowd.

So I certainly can't say they just want to make money and call it a day.
