Re: NBA 2K15 Official MyLEAGUE/MyGM Thread
I'm in 2016-17 of my Hornets MyLeague, using 30-team control. I sim all the regular season games, and only play the playoff games. I also keep track of every team's record and playoff performance on an Excel document, because I'm a dynasty nerd like that.
I was actually able to get most things correct as far as how real life went in 2014-15, as I had my Hornets finish 33-49, and the Warriors beat the Cavaliers in 6 games in the NBA Finals. I was able to set the injuries for players to reflect their real life counterparts, and Stephen Curry won the MVP award. Anthony Davis averaged an absolutely insane 27.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game. The off-season was rather uneventful, outside of Lamarcus Aldridge skipping town and joining up with the Spurs to pursue an NBA Title back home in Texas, and Paul Millsaps teaming up with Andre Drummond in Detroit.
Year 2 was pretty interesting. My Hornets struggled immensely, and went a league worst 22-60. Steph repeated as MVP, but David Blatt coached LeBron and the Cavs to the league's best record at 65-17. That didn't seem to matter in the playoffs though, as the Bulls took them down 4-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals. On the other side of the curtain, the Oklahoma City Thunder knocked off the defending champion Warriors in 7 in the Western Conference Finals, and then took it to the Bulls on the back of Russell Westbrook in the NBA Finals, winning 4-1 and finally getting that monkey off their back. They did it by fighting the injury bug too, as Serge Ibaka missed the whole NBA Playoffs, and Westbrook missed the Western Conference Semi-Finals and part of the WCF.
The off-season was a very interesting one. Demar Derozan bolted from The North and took up residence in Brooklyn with the Nets. The Pelicans were desperate to try and surround Anthony Davis with talent after he refused to sign an extension and only took up his qualifying offer, and gave Al Jefferson a big contract in free agency. The Heat, thanks to the emergence of Shabazz Napier, dealt Goran Dragic in a cap saving move to the Lakers in exchange for a few first round picks. And in the biggest news of all, my Hornets won the lottery and took homegrown Charlotte talent Sportsbuck at #1 overall.
(I created myself as basically what rookie LeBron's attributes would be. At this point in the game cycle, I'm just trying to play for some fun, and trying to bring a crown to the Queen City along with seeing how good my guy can become is what's doing that for me).
Currently in Year 3, and my Hornets are doing pretty well. I've become extremely perimeter oriented, with my 2015 draft pick Mario Hezonja being deadly from behind the arc, and free agent pick up Danilo Gallinari being invaluable off the bench. I'm also getting good spacing from my front court, as Noah Vonleh has developed a nice little mid-range game to go along with Spencer Hawes. Kidd-Gilchrist is my defensive stopper off the bench. And Sportsbuck has really been balling out this year. He's a lock for Rookie of the Year keyed our run to the top of the Southeast Division (Which has been absolutely ravaged by injuries. The only star to avoid injury this year in my division has been John Wall) and the #3 seed in the East thus far with around 15 games to go.
Andrew Wiggins has developed into a star, as has Jahlil Okafor who is carrying the load out in LA while Kobe refuses to retire. Karl-Anthony Towns is developing nicely, and D'Angelo Russell is already averaging 22/6/6 on 49/42 shooting (although the Knicks have one of the worst defenses in the league).
My favorite team in the game right now has to be the Pacers. They currently sit at 47-23, 2nd in the Central behind the 1st place Cavs, and 2nd in the East overall. I revamped their roster to follow in line with Larry Bird's thinking of trading Roy Hibbert and going for pace and space. I drafted Cameron Payne, traded for Willie Cauley-Stein, and signed J.R. Smith, Maurice Speights, and Ryan Anderson. They are currently 10th in the league in points per game, 6th in the league in points allowed per game. Here's what they look like right now:
PG: George Hill (79)/Cameron Payne (77)
SG: J.R. Smith (78)/C.J. Miles (75)/Michael Frazier II (70)
SF: Paul George (91)/Randall Givens (70)/Damjan Rudez (70)
PF: Maurice Speights (80)/Ryan Anderson (77)/Luis Scola (70)

Re: NBA 2K15 Official MyLEAGUE/MyGM Thread
Accidentally posted these two questions in the MyCareer thread. Can someone please help me out?
- Do AI teams use things like "grass is always greener" or is that an advantage afforded to only human teams?
- I think I read some folks were using the EmbraceThaPace draft classes? Is it just me, or are they ridiculously stacked? Tons of guys with B or WAY higher potential, even guys slotted as late 1st round picks having 14 badges already. This is 100% scouted with my A scout.

Re: NBA 2K15 Official MyLEAGUE/MyGM Thread
I used some 2015 one that I had downloaded a long time ago and have been editing over time for the first one.
Since then, I've been using JazzMan's, they are really good and I highly recommend them. I added my CAP to his first class.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: NBA 2K15 Official MyLEAGUE/MyGM Thread
What sort of house rules are folks using for things like scouting? It seems w a good scout you can unlock every player in the draft. I'd even be ok w that for my elite scout, but only if there was still some level of "hey, this is what I think" element to it where your scout isn't omniscient.@MikeLowe47 | YouTube | Discord

Re: NBA 2K15 Official MyLEAGUE/MyGM Thread
How are people doing with players like Tony Allen? It seems I can't consistently slow down players with him outside of a couple blocks & steals here & there. Which really neutralizes him since he doesn't provide any offense. I'm looking to win DPOY with him once I get it figured out tho.

TORONTO RAPTORS MYGM
Damian Lillard
Bradley Beal
DeMar DeRozan
Karl Anthony Towns
Juwan Staten
D'Angelo Russel
Terrence Ross
Tobias Harris
Aaron Gordon
Nicholas Batum
Patrick Beverley
This is my second season with the Raptors. Last year we topped the East and cruised to the Conference Finals. What proceeded was an epic series against Chicago, six tight matches with two of our wins coming in OT. Game 7 however was a spoiler, we bottled it and in the end the Bulls won by 27.
In the West, LA Clippers came from 0-2 down to beat OKC 4-2. In the NBA Final it was a sweep for the Bulls as Rose won the Finals MVP.
We have started the season well, our record is 13-4. Lillard, Batum, Drummond and Gordon were traded recently. Last year we had Tristan Thompson at PF.
The team is making a big profit, so I am pulling out the stops to make two trades which I think can take us to the very top level. If I can keep Beal, Harris and Drummond next year too than I am hoping my starting five will look something like this.
Damian Lillard
Bradley Beal
Paul George
Anthony Davis
Andre DrummondComment

Re: NBA 2K15 Official MyLEAGUE/MyGM Thread
After starting the year 10-3 with my year 2 Knicks, and losing Melo to a broken leg, got him back today. Trudged to a passable 13-14 record without him. His first game back, put up a 40/5/5 game to will us past the Suns. He just makes everything in my rotation fit better. Reggie Jackson can just distribute (12 assists). Draymond Green can just defend and hit 3s (only 8 pts, but the go ahead 3 off a Carmelo double team, immediately followed by a huge steal). And Tobias Harris can now come off the bench, where his lack of defense (made worse by a sprained ankle) doesn't hurt, and his scoring can propel the second unit (12 pts, 12 reb for him). Looking foward to seeing if I can now make up the 3 game defecit for the #1 seed, currently held by LeBron's Pistons, in my last 17 games before the playoffs start.Comment

TORONTO RAPTORS MYGM
Damian Lillard
Bradley Beal
Nicholas Batum
Anthony Davis
DeMarcus Cousins
Austin Rivers
Terrence Ross
Jordan Crawford
James Young
Karl Anthony Towns
In the end our trade marathon worked out, with the exception of the SF position. However Batum has done surprisingly well and has the versatility to play at the back court too.
The power on offense and defense is scary, and we are set to top the East by a huge margin. With most of the players on decent contracts, I'm looking for a ring this year and next.Comment
