    NBA2K15 running (sprinting) animation issue

This thread is for the Devs and anyone who thinks and agree that 2k should improve the running animation.

So far from the videos from Gamescon there is a lot of improvements you guys made and that's great, but there is one thing I'm surprised no one mentioned and i am sure I'm not the only one who doesn't like it.
The running animation in Nba2k is weird, clunky, clumsy i mean when you press R1 for sprinting, players start running good but suddenly they begin running like old men. It's very outdated and needs to be revamped ASAP. I have never seen any ball player run or sprint like that, I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about.
This animation is still in every Nba2k15 videos from Gamescon i have watched and I'm surprised no one noticed it.
Its one animation that needs to change. it has been in the game for years now.
I hope you guys could change it if possible it will bring the gameplay to another level. It will improve fasbreaks and make the game more fluid and explosive. Right now we really can't enjoy any fastbreak because instead running fast players run too slow and its painful to watch.

I agree. This has been bothering me for awhile along with the dribbling up the court. It just doesn't look natural, especially when they are at full speed.

Thank you for mentioing this. I was playing online earlier and couldn't capitaize on a fast break opportunity because my player took his damn time getting into the sprint animation. Great point!

Just to add to this, 2k needs to work on the responsiveness of the controls and the animations. There is too long of a delay after a button or directional stick press. I forced myself to play 3 online games earlier and the delay is just redic. I hope they are working on these areas, not only offline but online as well.

Re: NBA2K15 running (sprinting) animation issue

wrote a whole blog on this a while ago in 2012but I'll admit that it looks A BIT better this yr but I was to a certain point where I stopped using it and made a highlight reel about how smooth it make the game look without the herky jerkyness

          <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Tm8HotwiUp8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Im a long time fan of 2ksports but the only thing I think they left out in the signature department in terms of making the game look/feel more realistic/great is the running animations for turbo. For some reason I dont even like to use turbo because of how it looks it just looks kind of ugly, and plus it goes into a turbo animation auto off a crossover which looks super ugly on smooth guys like Derrick Rose and Joe Johnson. The players slouch...... it just doesnt look real to me. I also found it easier to change direction and maneuver through the D without pressing turbo and u can actually get past defenders too.

For example Kobe doesnt look like hes going full speed when he drives as do some other players but yet he gets to the basket with his first step, long legs and change of speed(also Joe Johnson)so maybe in this area they could just use the method Madden(I love APF more but anyway) used with eliminating turbo so now the turbo button is free for pressing when u want to dunk like blake off a up and under or something IDK. Now the left stick will allow the change of speed, walk to gradually sprinting depending on how soft or hard you move the stick which makes crossovers, dunks, etc. look extra sick, smooth, real, bleep nasty! What I really wanted to know is I see how the guys at 2k changed the turbo animation between the faster guards, centers, and slow small forwards so if so then It shouldnt be hard to add signature turbo animations to differentiate guys like Kobe, Lebron, Derrick Rose and Pau right? If 2ksports do that right with a smooth transition to a sprint and fix the morphs.........I think everyone would be Stephen A. Smith excited, no competition thats all to it!

Re: NBA2K15 running (sprinting) animation issue

            Issue since 2K9!

The animation is delayed and as soon as the user hit the sprint button the CPU instantly starts sprinting 2-4 steps before the user does.

There are times I hit sprint and the player jogs down the court and once the CPU is in good position the user player starts sprinting.

            2K need to implement acceleration:

There should be about 5 different sprint animations based off height, acceleration, and size:
            25-49 very slow - Hibbert
            50-65 slow - avg PF
66-79 med - avg NBA player
            80-89 fast - avg G/F
            91-97 elite - Nate Robinson

Re: NBA2K15 running (sprinting) animation issue

I agree that the next big improvement gameplay wise is a complete overhaul of the turbo. I thought about it the other day and I was thinking that I would like something called like "Explosive step" rather than turbo where you tap the button controlling your player's steps rather than having it as a linear acceleration. Think of it kind of like gears in a racing car (not exactly). Depending on the player's explosiveness it would take you from 3 to say 6 or 7 steps to reach full speed and you would feel the player explode as he plants his feets.

Just an idea but the Turbo feature is completely outdated now and they will have to come up with something better than that wether it is animation wise or control wise.

I hope some developers will see that thread and if possible implement that in future nba2ks.it will take the game to another level.

That's a cool idea.i think i played a fifa that use turbo the same way you described. the quicker you pressed turbo, the faster the soccer player runs.

agree 100%. I sincerely hope a dev sees this as well. Maybe someone should tweet them or something. We keep getting hundreds of new dunk and dribble and contact animations. How about 2 new run ones? Just saying

It's best to have a youtube video of the problem and tweet it to him.

I thought about the very same thing the other day. There is far too little difference between a full sprint using turbo and the normal running animation. Players with speed like Derrick Rose, Westbrook and Wall feel very off... there is just no explosion or second gear.

This may be a bit off topic but I think they should get rid of turbo all together and just have it triggered automatically. Lets call it "Smart Sprint™" I have no issue doing it this way but I'm sure people would cry for more control. I propose we have it as an option just like having absolute controls on the controller setting.

This should free up the turbo button for something else as well.

The control is not broken, it's the clunky running animation we want them to get rid of and bring a more dynamic, modern and consistent look. also it should be more responsive and no more delay. Right now in NBA2K14 when you press turbo the player doest automatically runs there is a bit of delay. Once he starts the running animation it looks good but after 2 or 3 second he starts running like an old man clumsy, as if his back hurt or something . It doesn't make sense and looks ugly why?.
