Re: Official "Bring Back Halftime Show" Thread

I don't like the idea of removing certain aspects of the game.

If I want to skip the halftime show, give me the option to skip it - don't just completely remove it, only to bring it back in a revamped version.

I skipped over it a lot. But there were also times where I was having an amazing half and I'd watch highlights. So maybe 70% skipping, 30% watching.

If there were a game mode that not many people played, would they remove it? Like, if MyPlayer were the least played mode, would they take it out because not many people play it?

All in all, it's not a game-breaker by any means. Just a little setback in my overall gameplay experience, to me.

I have it, and please don't come in here trying to police your little thread as if its the most sensitive information in the world. People are not stupid

I hope you dont really think you're smarter than the devs at 2k and they dont know what theyre doing. It might be in the plans to improve it massively in 16 when they get a full year and furthermore

You've made your point already so you need to take a deep breath a relax asking me about headbands and crap. Believe me I wont listen to you following me around here as if I Have to agree with you anyway.

If I felt like I didnt care about any halftime show it wouldnt matter because it would be my opinion anyway. I surely hope you dont try doing that to other posters in here because thats definitely going to be a problem.
Lmbo... the dude wasn't even coming at you wrong for you to get all hostile. Either you're having a bad day or just easily offended. Dude just stated his peace in a calm way, and you're talking like ya'll about to make something happen in the streets. Chill out.

On another note, that's why people don't like coming to OS. Give dudes a lil internet power and they start acting all high and mighty. Can't tell long time members nothing, when most of us been gaming just as long as y'all. And WTF with all this "the mods aren't at your beck and call stuff?"

        3. Stop coming here trying to police the thread and telling people how to post

        4. Mods are not at YOUR beck and call

        5. Quit acting like this thread is super special because it brings up an issue that YOU have right now.

        6. Since LD2K has seen the requests I could easily lock it now because there is nothing more you can say to him.

So you either get back on topic or #6 will be the results and as I said if I didnt think its a game killer like YOU do this year don't decide to come after me then act like an innocent when I respond. Im done after this because I said what I needed to.
        1) EA has seen the request for cpu vs cpu in offline franchise for the last three years now, yet the appropriate thread remains open in the Madden forum.

        2) I know. You don't have to keep talking down to me like I'm a little kid. You've been very harassing and I don't appreciate it. Constantly talking down to me.

        3) You came in here telling us that this topic wasn't a big deal. I told you that it was to us. I'm not trying to police the thread, just trying to get you to stop disrespecting the people that don't share your opinion.

        4) I know they're not. I didn't tell a mod what to do. I asked politely. I'd still like a second mod to come in here to review and clean up a bit, if that's possible. If not, fine.

        5) It's not just me that this is important to. It's important to a lot of people. Just because it's not important to you doesn't mean it's not important to others.

        6) If you look at my first post in here today, you would see that I AM trying to keep this thread on topic. You keep taking it off topic.

ALL of this back and forth should have been handled via private message.

Now, please, if we can get back on topic, that would be awesome! It's important, I want it to stay open so others can discuss. Thanks.

Come on, 23. He seemed completely reasonable, in the very thread dedicated to talking about a major issue if we even pretend to take presentation seriously.

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure how "you guys will be fine" really contributes to the discussion. Just as "meh, no big whoop" wouldn't really contribute much to an authentic rim sounds thread.

And I've grown to love that you make a case about it each year even though it's something I hardly notice and wouldn't care remotely as much a halftime show-- and I used to think THAT was extreme nitpicking. But the moment 2K improves those aspects you're passionate about and try to hold their feet to the fire over is the moment I'll understand what I was missing all this time.

We all have our pet issues. Mine is apparently lighting and skin shaders. And anything off about Curry. As long as we're all civil, let us live a little.

Pretty sure this will be back next year so I don't see a point in a thread like this.
I dont think Damon Bruce had anything to do with it. Bruce is still in the game. He has posts in the social media sections of my player and myGM.

I'm loving the improvements to the gameplay this year, but it feels so odd playing a 2K basketball game with some of the presentation elements missing. The halftime show during the season in NBA today use to let you know the schedule for the league and scores sometimes while real games were going on. A lot more stats about players and teams around the league of different top 10 categories use to pop during the game. The lack of highlights and info about the current game and other games around the league is disappointing. 2K has to bring this back and then more with 2K16, I wish the could at least just patch in the some of the presentation stuff that use to be in the former 2k basketball games....

That sort of information is no longer present in MyLeague? Or just not as much?

I'd love to see the FULL halftime show put back in. Especially since we get very few decent replays now (mainly replays of someone getting fouled) and the Jordan Player of the Game doesn't work most of the time. We are presentation fans here. Did you (2K) really think we wanted the halftime show removed?

It's tough for anyone to know, but the closest thing we got to being thrown a bone on this matter was LD2K saying something along the lines of, "Something to think about - we know how many people button through half time shows. Spoiler: it's a lot a lot." Some have interpreted that statement as being a suggestion that the halftime show was removed because many people skipped it, with 2K perhaps believing it may be best to take away what the people seem not to want.

Surely, it's all speculation and I would like to be clear in that regard. But it was an interesting comment to make the moment after folks noticed the halftime show had gone missing. And I cannot blame some folks for drawing meaning.

I don't know how it works, but lets say the game can capture a finite number of replays. If I had to choose between having 3-4 replays per team at the half, or having the Ernie/Shaq pregame, full post-game signature highlights for every player, PLUS a full player of the game highlight set...even after 12 minute games, I'd take the latter. Id prefer both of course, along with the NFL2K5 weekly shows, but I still think 2k14 is an improvement.

The brief halftime show and cheerleader routine gives you the same 60 seconds of smoke time anyway, lets be honest.

Agreed. But that is more of an extrapolation. Anyone with a reasonable mind would realize they would NOT go through the troubled to remove something that they didn't have to remove. Whether it be to make room for something else or weighing removal versus expansion, I don't see why anyone would think they would do something just to piss even a handful of customers off knowing the others couldn't care less.

Again, it's all theoretical and I do not claim this to be accurate, as I'd have no way of knowing, but I think the logic behind the "You know how many people skip halftime? A lot a lot" theory may be that 2K, in response to data saying the majority of people skipped halftime, opted for a more streamlined in-game product that didn't get caught up at halftime, forcing people to slosh through something for which data suggested they had no interest. I'd wonder if it'd be easier to remove something like that halftime as opposed to adding it in the first place. If so, it may have not been too much of a relative hassle.

It does not seem too unrealistic to imagine 2K wanting to create an in-game product that moved more quickly. People from 2K have brought up their analytics from time-to-time before. I've always been a little worried about their interpretation because sometimes modes or pieces of the game aren't skipped because no one cares, but rather because the mode has been poorly implemented (ex: current slam dunk contest).
