Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"

I'll admit I haven't read all the thread and don't know all he details but the whole waiting game is laughable tbh. I just can't believe this is still implemented for a 2nd year. They need to scrap it with a patch and just put players into open games/courts. C'mon 2K, this looks like the makings of a great game. Don't ruin it with a bad decision like this.

For the people somehow defending wait times. If 2k had included another game type called "Squad Matchmaking" which one would be more popular? The matchmaking or the Jordan Rec?

Re: The Real Problem with "Got Next"

If we're gonna keep this My Park mode then my ideal scenario for My Park would consist of:

        1. A pickup game mode, where you can go in by yourself, and/or with friends and play blacktop with other people. This pickup mode would be good for casual players, and would serve as a place where individual players could find a squad/crew to play with; and vice versa. If you already have a squad/crew and are looking for a a few more players to fill out your team, you could go in and play with new people and see who meshes with your team; send them an invite, etc.

        2. A 5 on 5, indoor, 2k11 mycrew style mode in an arena, that is matchmaking only, with no got next, and no wait times. This mode would require at least 2-3 human players, with the rest of the squad being filled with CPU players if there are not 5 humans. 4 quarters, foul calls, refs, and fans, along with custom emblems/jerseys would be a must.

This is exactly what myself and many others were asking for. Not waiting around 30 min for a game in the park.. If they could only create a game mode like EASHL or FIFA's Clubs

What they should do is, if you are already squared up with a full 5and then walk in the JRC (or if you have 3 already in the park); then instead of sending you to a place where you have to wait, send you straight to matchmaking.

That way you can wait for others and spectate if you don't have a full squad, but if you do NO WAITING, straight to matchmaking.

Yea, Fifa's Pro clubs could be a model for 2k's future with MyPark. I also play clubs, and think it's set up is near perfect. Drop in matches when you're by yourself, and you end up making friends with other players and get them onto your club. Of course, I almost forgot the best part... No waiting around doing nothing!

Bull****. World PvP is NOT instanced. winter grasp and Tol Barand are NOT instanced. You fail to see my point because you only choose to look at info that support only your narrative.

Then why not apply the same principle here? If you are ok with not playing, then don't play! Go to another mode. Fire up a team up match! Why are trying to force the Park to be something that it's not? What is so hard to understand about this? The essence of the mode is lost if you break the continuity. If people are ok with disappearing from the actual park they were in, that's one thing. But that breaks the illusion. WOW does this with phasing the world boss raids. That's the ONLY way you reduce waits. But the problem in basketball is that people are VERY selective in who they play with. If a brown shirt phases into your team, do you bail? Now you are just phasing in squads. That COULD work. But since this is their first volley into this style of online play, I doubt it's ready for phasing and all the tools needed to do it.

You clearly have no idea what your talking about. The park is a realm. The reason you have to wait is because the court is not open. Plain and simple. How can you play on a court where a game is already in progress? The only way is to team phase to a different park. But the social dynamic of seeing your next opponent, or holding a court for that matter, is lost.

I'm done arguing about this. Not being belligerent when I say, go play another mode. You clearly don't want this one.

Edit: and the attitude in the post above is the mentality that keeps gaming stagnant. Are you for real?
You do realize that you are the minority right?

agree except for the CPU teammates part. CPU teammates isn't crew or 5on5, CPU teammates is my player co-op. There should be a separation between those modes. Problem with CPU teammates are the amount of cheese that they allow for -- constant double teams, playing off-ball (the whole point of playing online multiplayer is to get away from CPU teammates and forcing dudes to play their own defense).

I think rather than making you stand next to the court in one spot, they should give you something to do while you wait. For example, you get to a court and kind of "sign up" for the next game. From there, you can still move around, and go to an empty court and shoot around, get a scrimmage type of match with the other people waiting, or even go into an offline game. Then, once it's actually your turn, you return to the court. Or maybe get a notification that it's your turn, and you have a minute or two to get to the court or you lose your spot (in case you're now invested in what you were doing while waiting lol).
If we wanted to watch people play, we would watch twitch broadcasts.

I see your point, but what you're saying sounds a lot like Destiny's Raids, which require six players to be playing at the same time. With most of us having full-time jobs, wives, kids, etc., on top of living in different time zones and having different shifts, getting people to play at the same time is very difficult. I hope Bungie patches the Raids to have regular matchmaking and I would argue the same for this mode if 2K required five human players to play simultaneously.

In a perfect world, or when I was in middle school during summer break, I could do this. But my life, and I figure most of the people on this board, doesn't allow me to always play at the same time as others.

I know when I last played Crew, it was mostly just me and my best friend playing and the CPU filling in the other spots. Now the opposing team would eventually see that it was only the two of us scoring mostly because the CPU would pass up open shots or turn the ball over so they would focus on us and leave the other three guys alone. So it can work both ways. I just don't like limiting people's ability to play modes by making these kind of restrictions. But I do agree that a team should have at least two humans playing.

Gotta speak for yourself here man. As a man that grew up around real Chicago parks, soaking in other games is as much of the draw as playing.

We all just want to get to the point: playing the game. I mean if they took out the halftime show because people were skipping it, do they think people wouldn't skip this aspect if they could?

Then don't go in the Park. Not being glib. It's just the simple truth. If you guys just want to go play quick online games immediately, you don't want this mode.

Cool, then make the Jordan Rec Center like what we're talking about and then you guys can have The Park. I'm cool with options and if 2K gave us that option, great. Support both sides. I want Crew mode and I don't want it on last-gen systems. This is the closest thing, but crew mode didn't have us waiting around.

I know the point of pick-up games was you win, you stay. As in that's the reward. So why would a company intentionally punish a paying public when all the players want to do is play the game they bought? I think this is not an intentional decision made by 2K (God, I hope not). I think this has to do with their servers, which have never been up to par.
