Re: Huge Chunks of NBA 2K15 Aren't Working Properly Thanks to Lackluster Servers
As someone who DOES work in IT, I would almost guarantee that the majority of issues are software related. Sure, there may be some capacity issues with the hardware. But that would be a case of just throwing some money at the situation and it would be resolved. After all, there are only a few hardware manufacturers out there that make enterprise wide solutions like a game hosting server farm.
The reason they can't get it working, like much of the time for NBA 2k14 and still no better for NBA 2k15, is because their proprietary, in-house software is poorly written, poorly tested, poorly de-bugged.
... then 2K, please get your software in order for the sake of all NBA2k online gamers.Comment

I did not either...I'm pretty sure I only got 1 of 2 of the bonus packs as well. Got the 5k of VC...no idea if I got the accessories.XBL & PSN: zasbury25Comment

Re: Huge Chunks of NBA 2K15 Aren't Working Properly Thanks to Lackluster Servers
It's really frustrating to me to see developers be rewarded for putting out such low quality products. I'll never understand why anyone bought, let alone strongly supports this title from day one. They deserve no sales until they get their **** together. 2k has been a mess for several years now.Comment

Feeling better about my decision to hold off on this. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. I just hate that MyCareer is "online". There is no reason for this at all.Comment

Re: Huge Chunks of NBA 2K15 Aren't Working Properly Thanks to Lackluster Servers
The reason these problems persist in so many videogames (aside from the difficulty of it) is that most games see the biggest server hit on week one. In fact, the week one hit is significantly larger than any other week. Imagine 1 million simultaneous users on the first week of release, and by week 2 or 3 it's down to 100,000 users and it stays there all year. It makes no sense financially to invest in 10x the server capacity for a load that only lasts one week. I might be wrong about this, but I'm sure I read this in a dev interview somewhere (but not 2K.)Comment

The game plays great, when the servers don't screw it up. The guys who put the gameplay together probably have nothing to do with the servers, so there's no reason to drag those guys into this as this is probably the best playing sports game I've ever played.Last edited by BA2929; 10-09-2014, 06:07 PM."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Re: Huge Chunks of NBA 2K15 Aren't Working Properly Thanks to Lackluster Servers
In my opinion, 2K needs to consistently release a 'demo' around the week of E3, or so.
It doesn't have to be perfect. smh.
But ALOT of these issues could be completely avoided (or resolved) before the official 'release date' if they just did THAT much.
Demos work for OTHER game developers.
They can work for 2k also.
Just saying.Comment

Software Development companies usually work with 'hosting providers' to set-up & run 'simulations' to replicate 'millions of users' hitting the servers at the same time, in order to uncover & resolve performance bugs, ahead of time.
A senior-level Server Admin who is 'worth his salt' can tell you all about it.
But if your software goes 'gold' only 10 days before your official 'release date'... you may not have enough time to perform these types of server tests.
Just saying.Last edited by RogerBlack; 10-09-2014, 06:30 PM.Comment

Re: Huge Chunks of NBA 2K15 Aren't Working Properly Thanks to Lackluster Servers
We need a demo or a beta where they allow us access to it and the online capabilities . Maybe play quick matches or anything to simulate server activity. There would be no shortage of volunteers as we deal with server issues year in and year out.Comment

The product of the actual game is of high quality imo. It's the implementation of the servers that's of low quality.
