Yep. Shot clock cheese is definitely still a problem in this game.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
I don't see any reason for complaining.
You missed shots because it was contested.
You made shots because it's uncontested.Last edited by reptilexcq; 10-13-2014, 04:10 PM.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
by your definition of 50-50 in this instance, every shot has a 50-50 chance of going in....by your definition i could sling a ball 1 handed from the other end of the court and either it is going to go in or it isn't...so you'd say it has a 50-50 shot of going in....and we both know that, in reality, there is no way that I have a 50% chance of making that shot....i might make, say, 1 out 75?1 ...Steph isnt even a factor in that clip...and yup 50-50 chance (when I say 50-50 I mean its either gonna go in or not) with the ANGLE momentum led the shooter to the right and where the defender is contesting from the left ..I've seen this happen in real life on tv
2 The harden clip, I've seen befor also this type of shot usually hits the front top lip of the rim bounces up and goes in ( or not) because the shooter is fading away backwards...and because harden isnt a factor..it increases the chances of him getting the shot off...now it going in is subjective..ratings aside stuff like this happens in the nba we see it every season..and not even necessarily from the stars
If a player is constantly making these SAME type of shots go in 3 out of the 3 games I've played ...yeah somethings up,but I WOULD see some lucky stuff like the harden clip 1 out of 3 games played....ehh why bother...just me ..Do I feel defensive presence/shot contest should be tweaked yup...but imo its not a game breaker because its presence is ATLEAST there. Some might feel different and they have a right to. I just commented on what I saw in slo mo...
and yes, you have seen this happen in real life on TV.....but it doesn't happen at a very high %......the vast, vast majority of those shots result in bricks
same thing with the Harden shot as well....mediocre players aren't going to hit that shot at a very high clip in reality.....maybe an elite player with height such as Kevin Durant could hit that shot 3 or 4 out of 10 times?
For example Kevin Durant shot 543 mid range jump shots last season. Now, it is safe to assume that a lot of those are contested but a decent chunk are going to be clean looks that he got coming off screens or by making a good dribble move in order to get a clean look over his defender. Also, it safe to assume that Durant has a height advantage on probably more than 75% of those shots since he is almost always taller than his defender. Harden and the Euro player are at comparable heights, or at least they look it.
Kevin Durant only hit 250 of those mid range jumpers that he attempted. That is good for 46%.
Kevin Durant, who is unquestionably the second best basketball player on the planet at the very least, who is also known as a great (not good, but great) jump shooter....is only hitting 46% of all of his mid range jumpers....with open shots obviously factored in and boosting his percentage.
If this happened maybe once a game or something like that, I'd be fine with it. If it were great players who are either streak scorers or good jump shooters doing this, I'd be fine with it. If it were Jamaal Crawford getting hot and going off...if it were Steph Curry busting a nut....you get the idea.
This trash constantly happens in this game and it is completely cheesy and unrealistic for mediocre players and jump shooters to be hitting this cheese. I don't want to see Euro player X dropping that shot on me like it is nothing. I don't want to see Ricky Rubio hitting this stuff over bigger and stronger defenders. I don't want to see Kenneth Faried and Javele Mcgee hit contested fade aways or players running full speed on fast breaks only to pull up and do a Dirk one legged fade away with a hand their face. Those things simply do not happen very often and yet they are a routine occurrence in this game.
2K should be better than that cheese.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
I'm starting to think people don't know what a contested shot actually is. The contested shots I've seen go in are usually against star players. But even get misses when I contest their shots (star players). Most of the videos people are posting. The contest is either late (even though the player is near them. No hand up) or the contest is at a weird angle. Where they jump but are not even close to the shooter (camera angle).Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
I'm sorry jeebs but its definitely an issue with contested shots going in too often especially with players that don't really show that ability.I'm starting to think people don't know what a contested shot actually is. That along with contested layups going in happens far too often in online games.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
After reading this thread I was interested. I had been playing on All-Star since launch day, and, had been pretty okay with that level. (Some BS happened, mostly the AI putbacks, but BS shooting on contested shots seemed pretty normal on All-Star)
I made the switch to Superstar, and while I do like how the game plays better overall on that level, some of the complaints in this thread are definitely warranted. The AI can be on some real BS on this level. I gave it a full game, and I honestly couldn't believe some of the fadeaway, hand in the face 3's on such a consistent basis. It got to the point where I knew if I faced the AI into a tough, no seconds left on the clock, hand in your face jump shot, it was going in almost 95% of the time.
The game sure is tuned great for Superstar, but the amount and type of shots the AI makes needs to be toned down a bit. All in my own opinion of course.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
I had 3 guys in Nate Wolters face and he still hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer on me. lmao.. it was sickening. if the CPU wants to score.. they are going to. plain and simple. 2k15 isn't anything near a sim. too many missed layups and CPU cheese.Comment

If your talking about online. I haven't been playing online with all the up and downs. But from the videos I've seen people posting here and offline play. I haven't seen what people in this thread are talking about.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Competitive Analytics Consulting (CAC) would define almost everyone of these shots as "contested" if they were performing analytics as if they would in real lifeI'm starting to think people don't know what a contested shot actually is. Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
Why does it seem like as the thread continues, the argument morphs into one of "if a shot is being contested, it should NEVER go in". I say this because the "evidence" continues to be insufficient, yet the assertions are unabated. I'll say again, in Superstar, the AI will shot at a ridiculous rate somewhere between Hall of Cheese and All Star. I still think the game should have been tuned to AS.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
The CPU should be punished for taking contested shots, sometimes off the dribble, with mediocre players at the end the shot clock. Between the too-high rate of contested shots and oreb-putbacks, the CPU is being rewarded. Why does it seem like as the thread continues, the argument morphs into one of "if a shot is being contested, it should NEVER go in". What should be happening instead: the CPU should be working the ball into it's superstars, trying to draw a foul and taking more threes, since there is generally more space for threes. Holding the ball at 21 secs with bad players and waiting for the clock to jack up a shot shouldn't even be happening, let alone going in.
I have said from the beginning that this isn't making the CPU unbeatable. I've had success from day one in Quick Games and MyCareer on SS/Sim. What it does is make the games unrealistic, feel cheap, and closer than they should be.Comment

Re: Why do contested jumpers continue to go in?
Back in the day... I was a hardcore hall of fame user only. I played the CPU and Human on Hall of Fame. But in the last 2 or 3 years now. I'm ok playing on superstar or even pro. But from my days on Hall of Fame... I've seen the CPU pull some stuff out of it's ***. I've seen the CPU travel after losing it's dribble. I've seen the CPU not even inbound the ball (even though I have everyone covered) and the inbounder just start dribbling the ball up the court without inbounding the ball. Tons of shots go in contested and by terrible players. I kind of think this is one of those to each their own kind of subjects. But some of the videos posted here are terrible examples of a "contested shot".Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
