Just reading the 'impressions thread' and seeing comments like "this is the worst sports game I've ever bought" or "this is the worst 2k basketball game I've played" seems like guys being frustrated to me. Is 2k15 perfect? Hell no...but it's the best, most organic and realistic sports game I've ever played, and I go back to Bulls Vs. Blazers on SNES.The tools to play defense are there. The tactics to have a gameplan, run it and change it on the fly effectively are there. The CPU AI is the smartest and most impressive I've faced in a video game of any genre. Everything is there for you...but you need a fundamental understanding of the game on both sides to play well on Superstar/Sim.

Re: I think PRIDE is ruining this game for some people
I'm not really sure where to post this, and I don't wanna make a completely new thread for just a simple question. But where does one learn how to play 'Sim' style? I thought I play reasonable well and to my team's skillset, but I don't set plays mainly cause they cause me such problems, and I'm looking into not doing so many boneheaded things anymore. Was wondering if there was a section, or videos, or posts, detailing how to properly run plays and such?
Edit: Something to note, I'm currently playing on All-Star with Kayotic23's sliders.

Re: I think PRIDE is ruining this game for some people
This kind of ideal is why 2k doesn't progress in some areas fast enough
Lets ignore delayed controller response on next gen, horrible clipping issues with the ball going through defenders limbs, AI teammates over rotating, the CPU winning 50-50 balls on higher difficulties 90% of the time etc
We should just accept each iteration (and then conveniently call the last years lacking as soon as a new one comes out even though you spent all of last year damage controlling for it) and adapt right? I mean, why should anyone use these forums to point out areas where 2k is lacking (defense still needs improvement overall, both onball and team defense)? If you complain you're probably just a scrub that doesn't know how to adapt
Its not about people complaining about winning or losing, its how it happens. Sure some people are playing on too high a difficulty level (HOF should just be removed from 2k, the artificial stat boosts to the rosters just makes it turn into a cheese fest and brakes the realism altogether), but that doesn't fix some of the inherent problems with the gameLast edited by UnbelievablyRAW; 10-18-2014, 04:08 PM.Comment

Re: I think PRIDE is ruining this game for some people
Who is ignoring the flaws? Those such as myself who call this the best sports game out have still spoken on a variety of negatives...controller responsiveness is much improved but still need to get better. Sluggishness still remains at times. Fouls are lacking. There are other issues as well. The point is 2k15 has raised the bar, and hopefully next year we're saying the same thing. I just don't understand why I can play a 12 minute game on Superstar/Sim, hold a team consistently around 42-48% from the field, get realistic stats (execept for fouls, FT's and turnovers which 2K needs to improve on) and thoroughly enjoy it while seeing a few individuals posting about CPU cheese and contested shots falling "ALL THE TIME" and other stuff that I never experience or see. Praising 2K for an outstanding game doesn't mean turning a blind eye to things that should be worked on...and I'm sure the developers feel the same way.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: I think PRIDE is ruining this game for some people
It's funny you bring up fighting games, because losing to Mo & Born 1000 times in Street Fighter is what really gave birth to the mentality I have now...adaptation lol
On subject though, I think it depends on what you view as high level....I wouldn't say that it was true for all years....but this year does have a fair amount of strategy involved in it...including some stick skill...from the games I've played vs. humans I've been outskill a good bit of them...
Not that I haven't had losses to some guys with questionable tactics...just like I've had losses to spamming Zangiefs....haha
Hmm, if that's true, that sounds interesting. When i eventually pick up 2k15, i'll be interested in a bit more of a challenge. I dunno about you, but for me, in NBA 2k each year, it starts off kinda challenging, but eventually it evens out, and i'm usually winning pretty easily on superstar.Hope 2k15 offers a bit more challenge and strategy like you said, i look forward to tougher matches against the computer.
Man, i hate zangief. Honestly as much as i love fighting games, those are the games that make me rage sometimes, i get too competitive lmao.Comment

True, adaption is key. If you kinda play on autopilot, you'll never get better.

During this transition, people are going to have to adjust from expecting to win right away, to learning their characters and how to control space, which are two key elements in any competitive game. Imo, OS is the hub of the hardcore community online, so we can't afford an absence of strategy and a glut of scrubby ranting.
I actually do want 2k to maintain a pick-up-and-play aspect, but not on Superstar/Sim. Ideally, everyone playing on that level should know they are part of the hardcore crowd, really trying to break this game down and play it at a high level.
For those people, you HAVE to learn your plays, your releases, your hotspots and your defensive adjustments. Before, you only needed to know your superstars, their moves, PnR and exploits, so the game is stepping up.
Both NBA 2k and its community have a long way to go, but I'm confident that we can all get there. When we will, it will be a different world, and the way people are playing the game right now will be a joke.Comment

Re: I think PRIDE is ruining this game for some people
The problem is that the same broken **** is always broken, and has been for years. Moving around on defense is still like being on ice skates, while every AI opponent stops, changes directions on rails and magically transports itself into a canned drive-layup animation. Add to that controller lag, and you're basically just conceding that whoever you cover in any given game is going to have a huge scoring night. 2K has done absolutely nothing to fix it.Comment

Re: I think PRIDE is ruining this game for some people
I'm legit 13-4 on SS/Sim in MyLeague in 12 min qtr with the Cavs.
I'm my T'Wolves MyGm rebuild, I'm 2-9.
The team you play with matters so much, its not all about user skill, ratings and player ability do matter and that is why I think this game is truly a Sim.
With the Cavs I have a little wiggle room on account of their skill. The wolves though, I literally can't sneeze. Haha. It takes that much concentration over a 48 minute game to be successful with bad teams.
People who usually pick a bad team and get them a chip in a year or two are in for a wild ride this year on SS/Sim.Comment

I don't know, man. Reading all the back and fourth in here is a clear reminder of why I am happy to have moved on from tying to make sports titles the perfect simulation.
Not saying those who thrive to make each sports game they purchase as real as possible are wrong in doing so as I myself am guilty of doing so in the past. Just trying to come home and have fun for an hour. Unwind after a long day, use these video game sports titles as an escape, and take out my frustrations on my virtual players. But most importantly have fun. Again, not saying those searching to make a game perfect as wrong. Simply not my thing any longer. Give me pro difficultly with minor slider tweaks while I learn ISO moves, how to call pick & rolls, double teams, switch in and out of zone defense and I'm good. Too old to be getting frustrated by a hand because I'm trying to create something on Hall of Fame or All Madden difficulty because that's where true sim gamers are meant to be at. Truth is if I avoid the OS forums I don't even notice most if the shortcomings that are hammered to death around here. Guess I should consider myself lucky.Comment
