Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.

    NBA 2k15.
    difficulty: pro
    team: orlando magic
strategy: mostly 2-3 zone on D and whatever I feel like on O.Slow games, not many transition, not many turnovers.
position: 6-7 PG, coach switching me to 2 sometimes
average fouls I commit per game: 4
average fouls I draw per game: 4 (And that is with a PG that has no interest whatsoever in the inside scoring column or driving too much to the basket)
average fouls both my primary center and my two 4's (frye/harris) commit per game: 4

    Explanation:

Playing tight defense, defending the rim at all costs, letting a bit slide from the 3pt line. I get called, my teammates get called, my opponents get called for reach-in (mostly me, attempting steals), over the back and loose ball when too eager for a rebound, shooting and blocking fouls all day. I even drew a few charging fouls as often as I commit them. I have all my sliders maxed out and have no problem whatsoever with the FTA. What I do think is the problem is the fact that not many people utilize coach on the court badge, where you can have your teammates commit fouls. just keep pressing D if you're not near the ball-handler (i.e. lbj driving opposing side from me and I have my center bump him to miss his layup).
Also, I had that same lbj commit a flagrant 1 foul in a regular season game (his team was losing by 15 and for the whole 3rd quarter I was dicing him up with random plays either by myself or through my team, not committing turnovers. the game couldn't display the angry face but he litterally PUSHED my driving 2 out of his drive)

I don't know what y'all screaming about. I have full control over the fouls I commit and also the fouls that I draw.

What I will concede here is this: In a game against OKC, I had my player not commit a foul on durant while he was going for a two-handed dunk. He got his hands on the rim but by the time he recovered, a fast break bucket was already in his team's basket. I don't claim to be a pro basketball coach who knows all the rules, but I'm pretty sure you can't deny a two-handed dunk with no foul.I may be wrong.

Just to add something. I playd MyLeague with OKC and these are fouls made by my players...
Not even close to shooter...and again...

At least one meter from shooter with no touch at all. Both are fouls...
And something like these are not fouls (I played with Portland)

      Or this...

Nothing more to say about fouls. This game could be awesome, but I stopped playing it because of unbelievable awful foul detection...

I absolutely loathe when they call fouls on good defense with your hands straight up but you hit the nail on the head when you said they "overreacted". They fixed the problem by calling more fouls and not by calling them in appropriate situations. And then there are the animations that get uncalled (some have been posted in this thread) where the player appears to get clobbered. They have to get this right at some point. It's too integral to the game of basketball.

The nature of 2K being a video game makes shooting fouls hard to implement. If the defender chooses the correct angle, anticipates your move, and times his hands up or shot block perfect, what metric do you use to say it's a shooting foul? Do you want 5 out of 10 of those situation to result in shooting fouls? People will cry bloody murder. What about 3 out of 10? It's something I think is impossible to simulate in a video game. You can simulate charges and Violations . If your stuck is neutral, you're outside the restricted area and the offensive play runs into you, foul. If you're in for 3 seconds, you're in for 3 second violation, easy stuff to simulate in a video game. But something like shooting fouls, in which in real life can be hit or miss in how it's officiated. I can't think of a way for it to be simulated in a game system. This is a really tough issue.
