Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
The only work around for this is editing the rosters. 2k added an attribute called "shot contest" if this is pretty high then that means he may not foul when contesting a shot. I recall before the game came out, that the developers put a great amount of emphasis on defense, hence the lack of foul calls.
So what I did was for all players except for superstars (don't want them fouling out) and elite defenders, I put shot contest attribute at a cap of 50, low post IQ defense at a cap of 60, tendency to contest at a minimum of 80, fouls 90-100 and hard fouls 90-100 and I also put draw foul tendency at minimum of 75 for everyone.
I also messed with sliders with all fouls being 100 except charges I kept at 60. Shot contest I have at 80. Contact sliders I have all at 95.
I'm seeing a lot more calls. I'm averaging around 18-20 calls per game at the end of the 3rd quarter (I don't finish the whole game because I'm just doing testing). What I do know is that 90 percent of the calls are animated base especially the hard fouls. But if you look at the roster, everyone's hard foul tendency is pretty low. ... I'm not 100 percent sure this formula will work but I've played over 20 games and I'm liking what I see. Games feel a lot more realistic. Also I'm playing HOF 12min.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
Hmm, it's an interesting theory, but did you test it in MyLeague in regards to simmed games? Would raising the foul rating for players subsequently make it where guy go from averaging 2 fpg to 4-5 fouls per game? Do you see what I'm getting at? If none of that changes then you've found a solution.
I'll probably test it later tonight with the few teams I've edited and see if I see any abnormalities such as 40-55 free throw attempts or more than 2 players fouling out the game consistently.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
There's always a slider value or tendency in player edits that seems to really change things as far as simulation play goes. These finds about defense are huge. Even if they only result in a few more foul calls, it helps in realism. As it is right now the cpu ai on defense on any level above pro is absurd if you're using a quality player. They slide into position and force really horrible contact animations or just warp from behind/beside you and make you pick up your dribble. However if you're using a below average guy, you can almost walk right past them. That and (after all these years) using turbo triggers super human on ball defense. Lowering some of these defensive sliders might really help in one on one defense, which also may allow for more help defense and possible foul calls. Late or bad help defense usually results in open looks on passes or fouls in the NBA.
I'm excited to try some of these edits! I think we can really help out roster makers with some of these finds.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
Well I've only played one game but as you can see, I got to the foul line at least twice as often as has been typical (31 FT attempts) and the CPU had multiple players in foul trouble and one foul out...first time that's happened - ever. Not a huge uptick in non-shooting fouls, but definately better.
It's gonna take some tweaking but the foul rate is more realistic, IMO.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
Has anyone suggested editing players draw foul, commit foul, hard foul, block & contest tendencies? Bad defenders should probably hack or foul more since they usually can't guard elite bigs or stars, or don't have the "badges" to negate their strengths.Comment

Although it's not exactly certain which patch. PC got one today that appeared to be only performance optimizations and online fixes. If consoles only get online fixes in the announced patch then the gameplay stuff might come later for both.Comment

Oh ok thinks I hope they do fix this and it doesn't take that long. I am not expecting this patch to fix much has the first patch for sports games is normal small and then the next one a lot bigger. The game plays pretty good with out a lot of slider adjustments. The only problems I am having with game play is not enough alley hop by the CPU witch slider should fix or improve, not enough blocks again sliders should improve that and not enough turnovers and fouls. Even turnovers should be improved by lowering the passing slider. Fouls though I have at full and I am not getting more then like 16 free throws in like 70% of the games and same with the CPU. Most games look something like this when it comes to free-throws CPU 14 user 13.
If they do improve this they may increase contact in the paint witch would mean I would maybe then have to decrease layup d on take off and realse and same thing with jump shoot has I have those increased right now to increase contact has on default simulation it is to hard to keep the CPU form getting an easy layup or dunk and same thing for me to easy on default simulation to get an easy layup or dunk. Lack of contact and also guys getting fouled and not having it called I think is why there are not enough free throws. I have seen sever guys get a forearm shiver in the chest and yet no foul call.Comment

Re: NBA 2K15 has NO regard for Fouls.
I can let you know when I'm about finished. I may do the player edits first then work on the play books. If that's the case, then I may be able to uploaded sooner. The only thing you would have to do is trade some of the players on the hawks (my favorite team lol) back to their original team. And plus the patch may change some things as well in regard to the fouls.Comment
