It sucks for gamers in SOME aspects. There are advantages, but this isn't the thread to go into all that. I agree 100% with the last statement.

Because PSN and XBL serve as proxies to the 2K server. You have to talk to them before you talk to the 2K servers. And if PSN is still not handling requests in a timely fashion, the 2K servers aren't being talked to or they time out.

You mean the days when you had to play 40ft PGs. Good times, huh?

Nah you can't leave it at that. What you mean?

I can't see any possible advantage in this, other than maybe these companys finaly put in the infrastructure to deal with these problems in the future.

Again, wow with these comically crazy posts. Yes, it makes total sense to do this... If you're 5 years old, of course.

Sorry dude. That's where it is going to stand. This has been discussed ad nauseam here already.

I don't agree with this at ALL. Having to be constantly connected is beyond stupid and what's happening now just further goes to show that. It's been 3 days!

Yes. It sucks. But certainly not new. For years there has been gaming 100% dependent on connections. Start with MMOs. Now that you have in game purchasing and microtransactions, you are stuck! So, not being rude, just blunt; if you don't like it, stop gaming. I don't like it as much as you do. But I get it, so I can't whine about it. There is no point in wasting my emotion on it.

Ridiculous to blindly accept this as the reality when you obviously disagree with it. Voice your emotions and force a change! Or, if you cant be arsed, dont, and forfeit your right to whine. But theres really no reason to douse the flames of other peoples displeasure.

                Re: cannot connect to servers

Well, when it gets to the point that every game has to have constant connection, I will ABSOLUTELY stop gaming, at least with new games. I was perfectly fine, for years, just connecting when needed for patches and roster updates. The only ones that benefit from constant connection is the game companies. I just really hate that a few virgins living in their mom's basement decided it would be "cool" to ruin a lot of people's downtime from work and school and it ESPECIALLY sucks for those that got new game systems for Christmas and can't do anything with them. Hope some people go to jail over this mess.

                  Re: cannot connect to servers

But it is reality. Aslong as Sony or Microsoft want it to be this way, it will be this way, only thing you can do is get on board or don't buy.

TBH it's been heading this way for a while, whether you're actively supporting it or going through the motions we've enabled them to take this route.

I'm not saying it's right. I think it's a joke, as an offline gamer mainly. But that's just how it is, coming from someone who unconsciously just went with it/ endorsed it.

It's all very well saying "voice your emotions" but the cold truth is, there aren't enough people to make a difference. Thats just how it is.

I wan't to game so I'm not going to be 1 of a thousands voices out of millions willing to go with what ever their game plan dictates.

Saying is 1 thing, putting it into an effective practice is a completely different ball game.

First, my perspective isn't a "blind" as you may think. Like I said, I don't LIKE it, but I certainly know and agree with some of the reasoning behind it. When it's all said and done, I can live with it. I would be a hypocrite if would bitch about this, when I've been playing WoW for almost 10 years! I'd be pissing in the wind to cry about micro-transactions when MILLIONS of people actually PREFER it! So now what? Do what you feel you should do. That's the point of my last post - if you're not down with it, stop gaming. I can accept it without loving it. So I keep gaming. End of story. You don't do **** by whining about it to us here. You best just stop gaming. THAT gets more attention.

Yeah I figure gaming is always going to be a progressive movement. I hate the whole "always online" thing, because I never play any games online, but I figure it's the movement and I can live with it.

This whole DDOS thing and the hacking and all that crap is the most childish thing I have ever seen. I don't understand it lol, I'm 24, I grew up with technology, but these new kids or hackers or whatever is just one of the most dumb things I have ever witnessed..

But on the other hand, I applaud the hackers, if Sonys security is really this bad then I want them hacked over and over and over and over and over until they nut up and figure it out. Because this is unacceptable.

Trying to play. Can log in into XB Live. Now I just sit while the wireless icon spins in lower right of 2K.

                          This is all just terrible.

                              Re: cannot connect to servers

Ive basically stopped gaming entirely. I played WoW too and I accepted all the negatives cause its an online game and I wanted to be online playing it. That doesnt mean ill readily accept that Sony requires me to connect to their servers to play a game offline. The past years Ive only bought and played NBA 2k13/14/15, and as a fan of MyCareer I was dissappointed to find the mode increasingly bare bones for offline play, and if that doesnt change im not buying the next game in the series.

regardless of what people do, i think its important to speak your mind. Sometimes someone listens, so lets not all act cool and be mature and realistic and tsk tsk at the fools who think always online is to the detriment of gaming, we dont need you giving us the high hat, theres enough of that from Sony and Microsoft. If you just dont like whine im not sure how you figure itll help whining about it.

Wait. This is a huge strawman here. MyCareer has an offline mode! What's stopping you from making your guy offline only? Nothing. You CHOSE to make him online. So how can you complain it when PSN gets DDoSed and you can't get on? If you are REALLY that opposed to always online, why didn't you start your MyCareer offline?
