So heres the thing, Been playing head to head against my frinds for a few months and one of my friends has basically mastered the shot meter. All he does is run and gun and it seems like the game is so easy for him. Most of his possessions are quick shots. He shoots 2 feet behind the three point line and its mostly buckets. How do you stop this style?

If has mastered the release of his main scorers and can hit the sweet spot regularly I think you're SOL'ed.
My buddy who is a good player and mastered the release of every player on the Grizzlies is near unstoppable against me. I have tried defensive tips from Czar, Jersey, and Sam Pham; still get torched. Every shot contested or not, falls in like the rim is 10 feet wide. Frustrating, but I enjoy the game.Comment

Is there any zone schemes that are effective? I play with my Mavs, and don't have the speed or athletics to play man all game.Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Set your POE to Get shooters open. I also use shoot at will but that only has to do with the pace your plays are ran at, not where your shooters decide to place themselves.Comment

How do you guys manually manage minutes in 12 min quarters? I have subs on auto, but the substitution logic is terrible in this game.Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
It's absolutely atrocious and so are the points of emphasis when left on auto, but I leave them there so that I don't give myself an advantage over the CPU and to psych myself into thinking that coaches have a bigger impact in MyLeague than they actually do.
I have all of my starters set to play 30 minutes during the regular season so they can stay fresh, but they all average 35-40 minutes while Reggie Jackson only plays 12 per game as the 6th man (I have him set to play 24 minutes).Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
My rotation management in 12 min quarters are different for every team. For example, this is what I do with the Grizzlies:
Starters:
Conley 35 minutes
Lee 33 Minutes
Green 35 Minutes
Z-Bo 33 Minutes
Gasol 35 Minutes
Bench:
Beno 17 Minutes
Calathes 7 Minutes
Allen 20 Minutes
Koufus 13 minutes
Rotation
PG = Conley > Beno > Conley/Calathes >Conley
SG = Lee > Lee > Beno/Calathes > Lee
SF = Green > Allen > Allen/Calathes > Green
PF = Z-Bo > Green > Z-Bo/Green > Z-Bo
C = Gasol > Koufus > Gasol/Koufus > Gasol
That's what I do with rotations and minutes usually. The details differ depending on the team.

If you are playing on a lower difficulty, try bumping it to HOF/sim. If you manage to contest a shot, especially a 3 pointer, there should be much less chance of it falling and very little chance of a 'green release'. Seems much easier offline than online, probably due to small amounts of lag preventing you contesting in time.Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Agree with the above posters, auto subs is awful. I find the most effective thing to do (but not necessarily realistic) is keep it to an 8 man rotation. Something like this, with minor variations where necessary:
All starters: 34mins
Backup SG/SF: 28mins
Backup PF/C: 28mins
Backup PG: 14mins
I also change it to an 8 man rotation in the coaching page.
Stops the 5 in, 5 out changes when using auto subs (obviously!). Also if you work it out correctly you can get your best players going against the CPU bench (very effective over a 48min game), whilst not having them play too many minutes (you need to experiment a bit though).
If you have lesser rotation guys (anyone 10 minutes or less) manually at points I consider less important (for example if I am winning by 8 points or more).Last edited by pacers101; 04-27-2015, 10:18 AM.Comment

Re: #SimNation: Teach Me How Thread
Quick question from me. I use Sam Pham's 3 sets offense. However I could do with a good play that gets my SG open for a 3 at the top of the key. My best 3 point shooter (Bradley Beal) has central hot zones and I would love to get him a couple of easy shots there each game!!Comment
