Another benefit is you can pull dribbling moves off consistently, just better control over the ball handler basically.
How's it going? I just wanted to know if you still recommend intense d for automatic shot contest like you have in your NBA 2k14 "Requested jerseymade settings" video?

First I want to say thank you for watching my videos, I really appreciate the support. I'll break it down like this manual shot contest is the best option to lowering the shot success percentage, as manual contest seems to register better on most shot attempts. What I mean by register is when you use intense d for shot contest, you may be out of position and when you go into the contest animation it will still be considered a open shot, you'll hear the announcers say it's a open jumper too. Intense d is works well when you're in postion, same for hands up if you're not in position you're basically leaving the shooter open regardless of contest animation. So it's not that hands up or intense d doesn't work it's just you have to be in position to make them effective. To answer the question lol, use what's best for you I'm currently on manual contest.

I had this problem too but it's time based, as soon as the ball handler begins to use the pick that's when you jump the screen, I was jumping too early and was getting thrown out of position, due to the animation being fast. But you kinda have to jump into the screen to trigger the animation if that makes sense.

No problem man, I even made a private playlist for the lockdown defense part so that if I get rusty I can just revert back to your videos. Thanks for the answer, I understand what you are saying lol.

Have you been able to get that animation online when no screen is set? I try to use it vs side to side guys when on the same side as a rim protecter. I can defend the side the side i just feel like when there that predictable i should be able to force them to pick up thier dribble.... Wish list mabye?

No, but if a guy is zig zagging best bet is to go off ball and switch as he's about to shoot, so you can get the user shot contest bonus, seems like contested shots will drop online if it's the cpu contesting them, but user shot contest drops the shot percentage further than cpu defenders.

This is no advertising ,but if you love post offense like me, you got to go to jerseymade's channel and watch this:

and this for more detailed breakdown:

and if you like to play faceup in the post this:

There is a whole bible of tips and moves(read and react ones) depending on situation and position(low post, mid high post, elbows).

Even though there is a lot of material, i have a wish for jersey ,if possible to make a video on how to utilize guards and wings in the post/elbow iso and how to smoothly chain iso moves with post moves(ala joe johnson) e.g. comboing the faceup drive with the spin layup or post drives to dribble moves etc.

The one tip I learned while labbing the freelance triangle or any freelance is that you can't rush. There is a delay for when the play starts, about a second or two. So if you just hold the ball a little the play will come up.

Actually in general with offense don't rush, don't go frenetic all the time unless it's a fastbreak with numbers in your favor. I'm more of a halfcourt guy so I had to learn this while labbing some freelance offense.

That is what I got for now, if I find something later I'll for sure post it here.
                          Remember...It's just a game.

I'm actually working on an ICE defense tutorial as well as a nail defensive scheme video.

I'll try my best to explain. First, this year ICE defensive setting works but since picks come so fast sometimes it feels it can be irrelevant so you have to recognize them quickly.

In pregame adjustments, I still sag off every non shooter on the floor and I rarely play tight/smother on anyone on the floor. I do that because I want everyone as close to the paint as they possibly can be.

Force direction is a key component and the direction you will be forcing them are to the baseline. With defenders sagging in the paint, that should discourage them to attack the middle as well as you can use the baseline as an extra defender.

Make sure your guys are going over the pick and grab the ICE'd big man. When in control of the ICE'd big man, drop him back a bit further as I don't like where they naturally set up. I want them to take that midrange jumper and sometimes the AI doesn't drop far enough back and allow the drive around him.

Now, if someone is running a PnR from the wing with the PnR (top side) and you trust your ICE big man (Gasol or Noah) you can run the nail defensive scheme to help even more. If the PnR is to the baseline, just run the regular ICE scheme.

Nail is when you take the closest weakside defender (preferably the guy guarding the man at the top) and bring him down to the middle of the free throw line. If some guys don't know, on every basketball gym court there is a nail in the middle of the free throw line. Quick tip for young shooters out there, put your dominant foot on that nail on your free throws. Your form/release should be in line with that spot so its much easier to hit your free throws.

Back on topic, bringing that guy to the nail discourages the PnR option to attack the middle. When controlling the nail, how hard you help is up to the man you have up top because you're still responsible for that man. If he's a shooter, show help but get back in case of a kick out. If he's a alright shooter, you can dare him a couple times to hit that shot and help a little harder on the PnR action. Your main objective when running nail is to make that ball handler confused for a split second and force his hand.

Hopefully this all makes sense but when I drop the video it may help the understanding a bit more.

Just wanted to thank you guys for this thread, I really appreciate what you're doing. This is the first 2k I've properly played in many years and it's been really hard to find good information on many topics. Many of you have accumulated a lot of knowledge over the different versions of this game, but there's no central place where information is collected. There's a lot of good stuff on youtube and I'm a subscriber of a lot of youtube channels, but the basics are not often being explained as a lot of it is advanced content concerning offensive sets.

One such basic question: When should I be tapping the steal button? A lot of the advice I've seen is not to use it very much. I hardly ever use it, there are whole games where I don't press the button a single time. But when playing against good players I get stripped a decent amount, so it seems that I'm under-using it. Especially considering that I have amazing defenders on my team.

I've also noticed that stealing seems to contest shots. I can never get a good release when somebody is in the stealing animation anywhere around about 5 feet around me, including behind me. I need to take at least to steps away and pull up, by which point they've usually recovered and are in time to contest the shot. This seems really silly to me, am I missing something?

I am not sure about your second question. Steal button has always done exactly that, triggered a steal attempt. Nevertheless, you can strip someone if they driving but even so, I wouldn't consider that a contest.

Stealing is a timing and positioning thing. Now, I am not trying to brag but I am very solid at defense in real life and it has helped me excel when it comes to timing.

Do not attempt to steal often; pick your spots. Observe the ball handlers tendencies. You've seen signature size up and crossover to the left the first quarter, expect him to do it the second quarter and get yourself in position for the steal before the crossover.

If you have an elite defender, you can cheat a little bit and go for a few unnecessary steals and play up and force them to over dribble but you may get burnt a few times.

Best way to steal is to be patient, predict the ball handlers next move, be in position for the steal and capitalize on the moment. Timing is key.
