Can you teach me how to do the Up and Under post move for the Xbox One?

I honestly don't get how you do it.

    Thanks

Stealing is a timing and positioning thing. Now, I am not trying to brag but I am very solid at defense in real life and it has helped me excel when it comes to timing.

Do not attempt to steal often; pick your spots. Observe the ball handlers tendencies. You've seen signature size up and crossover to the left the first quarter, expect him to do it the second quarter and get yourself in position for the steal before the crossover.

If you have an elite defender, you can cheat a little bit and go for a few unnecessary steals and play up and force them to over dribble but you may get burnt a few times.

Best way to steal is to be patient, predict the ball handlers next move, be in position for the steal and capitalize on the moment. Timing is key.
That's all good stuff. But I also think the best steal possibilities come with anticipating passes and getting in the lane. For example, switching to off ball as a shooting is coming around a wing screen and getting that pass.

On ball steals are harder, and as Nevertheles09 says, you have to watch opponent user tendencies and anticipate. Against the CPU, I don't bother with on ball steal attempts too much. Better to anticipate those passing lanes when you can tell the pass is likely coming.

If you log onto your console and go to 2K University it will have it under the post tutorial.

Basically you start a shot, let the stick go back to neutral but before the animation is over, hit the shot button again.

How are you trying to do it?

For me on Xbone, it's a matter of changing the shot as once it has begun using the right stick. Doesn't feel tricky, it's not such a tight timing thing.

I'm not (yet) an officially acknowledged member of the SimNation but the answer to this depends on your desired play-style and also on whether Da_Czar has been able to update the playbook in question.

When playing on ball defense, do you guys use strictly the left stick or left stick and left trigger or both triggers? Sometimes using left trigger, the defender won't respond or respond entirely too slow.

Also, how do I stop this? Lol idk what would make Harden leave his guy when I'm controlling JT guarding Rubio smh.

I don't hold triggers unless I'm out of position or the ball handler is attacking me, for those hand offs harden was already out of position so he switched to Rubio and terry or brewer whoever those weird slinky lookin dudes are should've switched to Martin. You have to manually rotate at times it's an advance technique, that a lot of sim vets use, well the ones with skill use.

Whats the best way to limit the cpu offensive rebounding? I mean i know me boxing out is the best option but can you provide any advise on how can i make my cpu teammates help to limit them by using defensive settings adjustments etc?

Thanks! Im learning a lot about this thread.

Check out this Sam Pham video on how to get more of your own offensive rebounds. Some of these principles apply in reverse.

The first thing to be sure to do to limit opponent offensive rebounds is to switch religiously off your shooter to the guy under the basket as the shot is going up. You can do that with one button click, to the guy closest to the ball, which is usually the guy closest to the basket. Then, you want to manually go for that rebound and get in position as best you can. User rebounding is way better than AI rebounding.

Second, there are times when you may want to pull your weak side big down closer to the rim to have him in good position with the shot coming from the wing or high post. Use the left trigger to box out offensive rebounders down low.

As for your defensive settings, in general, you can set defenders on opponent rebounders to be tight off ball, so the AI teammate is in position to box out. But you have to think about that as part of a whole defensive strategy, and how it will all fit in.

Why? Because you have to think about how your team will play defense on a string, be able to provide help and protect the paint. If you put all your bigs to play their men tight off ball, they won't be as able to protect the paint and provide help, so use this approach very strategically.

Game planning with defensive settings is a whole other - large - topic. It means thinking about matchups, what shots you want to allow and what shots you want to make as difficult as possible, the strengths and tendencies of both teams, etc. Here's another couple of Sam Pham videos on an earlier version of his defensive setting system, but watching it shows how to think through an approach and make adjustments to it.

Thank you very much for this one small followup, what strategy do you guys usually do with cavs in superstar sim difficulty? Seems bron and irving are unstoppable and love and the supporting casts are way too reliable. I still couldnt beat them im using the pacers by the way hehe

It all depends on what you can execute. Your best bet is to find one of the freelance offenses that best suits your play style.

I got a question. Any advice on tipping passes. I play alot of mypark and you see passes get to the offense even when you are standing in front of them. Sometimes you tip a pass and it still goes to the offense. Should you use square to steal or tip pass?
