Re: Confirmed Classic Teams for NBA 2k16
Two teams left. Thus far, the new inclusions have been split right down the middle: five East and five West.
East
2000 Raptors
2004 Pistons
2006 Heat
2008 Celtics
2013 Heat
West
2000 Trail Blazers
2001 Lakers
2003 Mavericks
2005 Suns
2008 Rockets
Here are the NBA Finalists that haven't been accounted for (from 2000 on forward, not including similar teams -- such as the 2005 Pistons -- to those that have already made it):
East
2000 Pacers
2002 Nets
2003 Nets
2007 Cavaliers
2009 Magic
West
2004 Lakers
2005 Spurs
2006 Mavericks
2007 Spurs
2008-10 Lakers
2011 Mavericks
2012 Thunder
2013-14 Spurs
Non-Finals darkhorse: 2007 Warriors
Off the wall theory: We're 20 days away from release and we don't know Steve Kerr's commentary replacement. While we've all seemingly come to terms with his absence, it'd kind of make sense if it was announced that Reggie Miller was taking over as the color man, coinciding with the inclusion of his 2000 or 2004 Pacers team. That would be an East classic team worthy of "final two" status.
Meanwhile, I still pull for the 2005 Spurs in the West but having just thought of James Harden's cover inclusion this year, a 2012 Thunder team also seems to hold some weight. Also, I'm still holding out against an '09 Lakers team. They already have seven classic teams ('01, '98, '91, '87, '72, '71, '65), time for someone else to get some play.Last edited by VDusen04; 09-05-2015, 09:21 AM.Comment

Totally forgot about that early 90's Hawks teams that had Augmon and Willis on that team. I would love to see that team added.Comment

Re: Confirmed Classic Teams for NBA 2k16
I would be ok with 05 Spurs but would actually prefer the 03 Spurs. 03 Spurs had the best record out of any Spurs championship team in the 00s. David Robinson was still there(yes it was his final year and yes he was past his prime but still), Tim Duncan was the regular season and Finals MVP, young Tony Parker and young Mano Ginoboli, plus the 03 Mavs are in(not exactly sure why). The Mavs and Spurs had the same record at 60-22 that year and then met in the WCF where the Spurs went on to win that series and eventually the champinionship.
Then as I got to thinking, I started wondering if the 2005 team might make more sense to 2K because Parker and Ginobili were closer to their primes. However, as a lifelong David Robinson fan, I admit I'm more intrigued with a 2003 team, harkening back to the days where I originally thought Manu's name was pronounced "Gino-bee-lee".Comment

Yeah that's mainly the main reason I want them in it be one thing if the celtics weren't in the game I wouldn’t care as much, also who wouldn't want to play with prime Kobe and Pau.Comment

the only reason why I would like to have a prime kobe in 2k is so I can finally have a collision between a prime kobe and a prime jordan.Comment

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "Man, I just wish I had prime Pau back!"Comment
