Yeah, that has been my thinking with regards to college games. License the the schools, conferences, etc. and then release the game with a completely fictional roster. Sorta like Blitz: The League, I still remember Ron Mexico. That way it's an authentic collegiate game with the schools we love, just with fictional (not similar in anyway to current players) players. It seems so simple, so that leads me to believe that there's more to it that we just don't understand.

College games already don't move copies the same way as professional games do. Couple that with fictional rosters driving some people away, there just isn't the money in it to justify the development/licensing costs.
That being said ... I really hope someone gets this stuff figured out because I miss the college games. Well, a couple of them at least.Comment

Re: Could NBA 2K16 be Implementing College Hoops?
Something like that could work within NBA 2K because it's part of a larger game. As for the college games themselves, I think their fear is that the games won't sell as well with completely fictional rosters. I also want to say that the EA Locker, or any other system of allowing roster transfers, was still going to open 2K/EA to player likeness lawsuits. Basically, by providing a framework for allowing realistic rosters to be easily transferred (fully knowing that people would create rosters based on the real players and easily share them), they weren't going to be able to get around use of player likeness. I'm not positive on that aspect though.

Re: Could NBA 2K16 be Implementing College Hoops?
I think we are all overthinking it and setting ourselves up for disappointment. I think its just boxart representing each players "resume"to the nba from college, rookie season, awards winner, current
Also current NCAA lawsuits would prevent this also. Something people arent thinking aboutComment
