I doubt we see a full scale college hoops ordeal but perhaps 2k has gotten licensing of some major colleges to select from, nothing keeps a company from getting individual licensing from a college, they are not allowed to have the NCAA brand, but if I'm not mistaken any school can agree to be used if they so choose.

While having an NCAA aspect in 2K would be an excellent addition, this post is dead on. Licensing alone would be a killer. Conferences, conference tourney's, NCAA tourney, final four, etc.

I could only see a college career stint if it was super bland and watered down. But even then I don't see it happening. They would have to name it The Big Tournament Thingy or something lame.

this mode is going to be nothing if the VOs are the same rubbish they have had the last two years.

I think the story from Spike Lee will be first-rate. He knows how to tell a story better than most.

I definitely think we all have to be careful not to get our hopes up or anything because this very well could not work out how we want it to. That said, saying not to read to much into cover art isn't really appropriate either. The reason College Hoops 2K doesn't exist anymore in the first place was allegedly because of the asking price for the NCAA licensing. It would appear unlikely that 2K would pay the licensing fee just to put three jerseys on the cover of their game just to show 'a great moment in that star's life.'

Specific licenses from 3 individual colleges/universities to show jerseys is not related to the entire NCAA. MarvellousOne is correct when he says:

Its absolutely mind-boggling that there isn't an NCAA basketball or football game in todays day and age.

I'm aware of that, I know how the CLC works. I'm saying it's unlikely that 2K would spend the money on the licensing just for a picture of three guys on the cover of the game. That's a waste of money.

Gotta give it up to the dude who wrote this. Dude took not much and really made a good article about it.

I think he's right, may be they are paying the former college players, that played on certain teams with certain players in the league, in their final year in college. Or as part of the story you have flashbacks to certain games in college.

And as far as my player goes you'll may be play senior year in hs and with so many 1 and dones you'll only have the option to play your freshman year, go over seas, or d league for the 2014-15 season then be drafted in 2015.

It would be amazing if they could do just the NCAA tourney that way they would just have to get 63 other teams. It might be lame and wouldn't be official NCAA but still would be great.

The NCAA and these game companies screwed up everything. All you had to do was make everyone in these games have the wrong jersey number or wrong skin tone. No one could've ever said that the games were using their likeness if it was that way. I'd be pissed too if these companies were making all this money off my likeness and I didn't see a dime.

Would be dope though if we could ever do a full customed tournament in 2k in between HS (which no one has tapped into) and the NBA. Even throw in your own team usa for the euro league teams...

Honestly I don't think even Ed O'Bannon is affecting them doing a game now. The NCAA and it's member schools have always been free to make games and they wouldn't have to pay the players a dime. The NCAA tournaments, schools, conferences, etc. could be put into a game right now with completely random players, names, faces, jersey numbers, etc and there's nothing a player/former player could do about it. The problem lies with video game companies determining that it's not worth the cost of the license and cost of making the game to attempt this however. I've always maintained though, that these companies piss poor marketing practices for college games are the single biggest reason they didn't sell more copies.

If we ever got some type of college aspect in NBA2K it'll be this. That way they can make on generic NCAA arena and have all the games there. I can't imagine them creating the venues and arenas for 25-60 college teams (whatever the number may be).

Damn it. This has been in the back of my mind and I have been trying to push it away, so as to avoid crushing heartbreak later. Now this thread has create full blown hope and it won't go away until we hear a flat "no College Hoops integration" from the dev team.
