23 hit the sweet spot when he said old gen and proper foot planting.

    1 foul trouble
    2 better defense animations
    3 smarter AI teammates
4 ball passing through hands body ect.

      1. Faster passes with higher variety of passing animations (Specifically around the perimeter)
      2. Post play power ups, most notably dunking after a power dribble or strong dropstep (players like Shaq and Dwight are for lack of a better term weak in the paint when going up)
      3. Splitting the defense on pick and rolls

Re: What are your top 10 hopes and concerns for NBA 2k16? For #Simnation Hangout

        Great thread Books!

        1. With me being a roster guy, first and foremost I would like to see the individual tendencies for each player revised. Using NBA.com/Stats along with Basketball-Reference.com should be easy to implement for both current & classic players. This would allow for more realistic gameplay going forward.

        2. I'd like to see better body movement during box out sequences as many times the players seem robotic instead of fluid while fighting for position and the ball.

        3. I hope that passing is better represented this year as I don't want to be able to pass at will in a crowd but I also don't want the same deflections when elite passes should sneak thru.

        4. Back taps on rebounds for second possessions is a must! It's a huge part of the game today.

        5. Hopefully there is realistic value to your AI Teammates in MyCareer as having smart teammates would enhance the mode for me personally. At the very least, allow for editing of your teams players once inside the mode if they are not to your liking with their play style or intelligence.

Can't wait to see you guys back (hopefully this Friday) as it's always great rocking with ya each week!

Re: What are your top 10 hopes and concerns for NBA 2k16? For #Simnation Hangout

Im DYING for a Westbrook pull up game.

I think if the foot planting is implemented right, the AI logic needs to be aswell. IF speed is a real threat (which it ALWAYS is in Westbrook's game as a specific example) then defenders would drop right back and the pull up game would open up.

This properly implemented would be a game changer, not just for RW but for all speedy players. Would open up more of a mid range game, shot percentages would come down as a natural bi-product aswell.

Also hoping the slip screen game is money allowing players like Ibaka to get mid range looks, hope AI is more strategic with concepts like ICE and matchups, AI subbing is better (no more 3rd qtr foul outs) and lastly, I WISH there was a dribble hand off mechanic (like the other game has implemented)......

Sorry my post was so OKC driven - examples only.

            Thanks for doing this ^_^

            1. Hopefully there's an option for activating HARDER passes. I love the lob pass option with L2 and Traingle, but to beat zone and help side d we need to have like a turboed version of a regular pass.

            2. Second jump delay hopefully has been migitated. Often in 2k15 my rebounder simply won't jump a second time even if I tell him to over and over.

            3. Zig zagging as a tactic needs to be severely punished via game mechanics. If you zig zag, shooting percentage should go way down; I am an amateur in coding this stuff so I am not saying it can be done, just hoping something could be Also praying something has ALREADY been done about it in 2k16 ^_^

              1. Pick and Roll does not exist in Nba 2k15. Mans Times when my Big Men Rolling Up to the Basketball and iam in a Good Posetion to Pass him, always (idont why) he stuck in a Animation. He follows the Ball instead of Picking him up in Air, so often (90%) of the time my pass is stolen from the Defender

              2. Big Mens acting like 5'9 Guards sometimes under the rim. For example, my Big receive the Pass under the Rim and a Guard like Lowry is behind him( yes i mean behind not infront) , normally a f***ing Center would Dunk That ball, but in 2k he stuck in a animation again and miss the Layup (ohhhhhh my Gosh *ChrisSmoove Voice*)

              3. postfadeaways in this Game 2k15 is awful..... Everybody can Fade like Jordan EVERYBOOOOODY! Please 2k Fadeaways in Basketball is One of the Most difficult Shot to hit and Players like Dwight Howard, Anthony Davis etc Hits the Fades like Dirk with 6/7 shots.

                1. Input delay (Offline, but especially online)

                2. Online (it would be great to know if this has significantly been improved prior to release as I have no interest in playing offline).

                3. Floaty Passing

                4. Momentum-I've heard that there is no rubberband/comeback phenomenon in 2k15 but I've had many instances where I start out playing well in the first half and come back after half and become super ineffective. The lack of success does not seem to be a result of a counter-strategy executed by opponent either. As a matter-of-fact, I would say 98% (on and offline) I see these types of situations taking place.

                5. Refs-taking forever to inbound the ball (Is this something that can't be fixed?)

Here I'll rank in order from MOST IMPORTANT to least.

                  1. Get rid of the rubberband system. I see many that deny it, but there's no questioning the fact that there's a "comeback" a.i/momentum shifter in this game that prevents you from taking a commanding lead. Once you break the 15 pt. barrier that it's probably set on, you usually never have to worry about it, but if you don't, the coding will find the most ridiculous ways to let the opposing team come back and make it close (not necessarily win) whether they're cpu or human controlled.

                  2. Shots must be harder to make. I'm very hopeful about this one though as I've heard that green releases are much harder and that green releases aren't 100% makes either. Post fades are ridiculous and you can hit them at a 90% rate EASILY with almost half the big men in the game.

                  3. Baseline cheese has got to go. No words to say about this really, it's just bad basketball that is bailed out constantly online.

                  4. Rebounding idiots need to smarten up. I'm tired of being out rebounded by someone just because they're attributes "say" they're a better rebounder. There's no reason why my players, that are in perfect position to get a rebound, should be getting manhandled and outhustled by Hakeem or Shaq every single time

                  5. RTTP in MyTeam should ALWAYS be on all star or HOF difficulty. The fact that it was on rookie or pro for the majority of the seeds and combined with the fact that patch 4 made the mode unplayable was just downright garbage.

                  6. MyCareer is obviously rigged when simming. So many times I'd be in a game and think to myself that the other team was trash. I'd leave the game up by 10+ many times, only to see us blow it in a matter of MINUTES.

Other minor annoyances that need fixing:

-I want the quck season mode back to where I can sim seasons in less than a minute by looking at the calendar, not the weekly schedule where I'd wait 5 minutes.

-Knockout. A simple mini game that refuses to be added outside of mycareer every single year.

                  - Let us follow our shot PLEASE. If big men weren't bad enough under the basket under contact as it is, at least let us try to get the ball back. I have to wait almost a full second after I've shot to get the offensive rebounding animation to work.

I'm not trying to play as the devil's advocate, but what exactly do you guys mean with "real defensive footplanting", can you give me some YouTube footage? Because what I understand is that the defender doesn't feel responsive? Personally I don't have this problem at all, 7/10 times my CPU opponent scores less than 95 points in a 12 min quarter game. Defense feels quite good, maybe to the point that defense is too good, but I will come back later to that with my main reason. If a defender closes out, he SHOULD be penalized and be vulnerable for a potential slash of the wing player or guard. Maybe I just misunderstood the situation you guys adressed, in that case I would like some enlightenment. I posted my concerns/hopes in an other thread, but I will post it here again because of relevance.

Personally, I don't really care for online modes like MyTeam and such. Occasionally I play some Quick Games online, but that's it. Recap shows/visuals are extras for me, gameplay is by far the most important thing. My biggest hopes are posted down below:

                    1. Different passing animations. Some plays include hand-offs, due to the lack of this animation the play's flow stops and kills the flow of the offense. In addition I would love to see a pocket pass in combination with a sliding screener.

                    2. Spacing. I don't know it is because of the movement of the big men or the actual size of the court, but the help defense of the weak side is so quick. The most efficient way to defend is to put the PoE to "Protect the Paint" and manually closeout the shooters. Due to the incredible mobility and acceleration of the weak side defender, the passing lane to the rolling screener is cut off so quick. A pocket pass will give more options on the P&R plays.

                    3. Players movement, my biggest concern. I want to see an explicit difference between players like Westbrook and e.g. Hibbert, guards should be able to blast past static big men. Hell, even in transition I can't see a clear difference.

These are the three key things for succes to me. There are some little things that need to be tweaked or added:

                    4. Post Fadeaway, no explanation needed. Every big men that receives the ball (even near the 3-point line) fades and hits the shot. Really, really annoying.
                    5. Addition of tutorials. I want to be able to improve my post offense, let me train my post moves with e.g. Okafor or dribble moves with Curry.
                    6. Rebounding, stats are just unimportant. Every big men is able to rebound, somehow stats need to affect their rebounding skills.
                    7. Hop before shooting. When I choose a floppy play for Thompson or Green, I want them to shoot the ball immediately after they receive the ball without turning the shot in an impossible fader.
                    8. Blocks. They should occur more often and the shots need to be blocked with force, not the weak touches. Playing with Poke's sliders improves the blocking, but it still needs some tweaking in my opinion.
                    9. Further development of plays, love the way Czar is working on these things, but it could always be further improved, e.g. the very high Horns play the Clippers use 70% of their time.
                    10. Putback tip-ins. Essential part in basketball, yet I see it rarely occur in NBA 2K.

There are probably many other things that needs to be improved that I can't think of right now. For clarification, I loved(!!) the game this year. Played the game throughout a whole year and with the constant patching and custom sliders the game is great.

I have one big hope and it is that we can have for the first time ever a REAL NBA boxscore simulated in a 2k game.

With all the right numbers on blocks, free throws attempts (fouls called, basically), rebounds, FG%. Every year something is off and this year we will be able to correct some of it through sliders, but I'm hoping that the game itself is real in this aspect.

With this in mind and in no particular order:
1: Transition gameplay. Playing MyCareer/Playerlock, animations involving celebrations and camera-cuts make transitioning to defense properly a nightmare at times. Especially true with the tougher match-ups. I don't want to have to disable or always interrupt these wonderful animations in order to play at an elite level of defense but in 2k15 I had to.

2: Proper use of time management, time-outs and substitutions by the ai. I lost track of how many times their would be a two-for-one situation and the announcers would trigger their commentary but the on-court ai acted like it was a run-of-the-mill play. Time-outs and substitutions are self-explanatory and have been a yearly weakness.

3: Lack of implementation/deployment of improvements in all the modes. Last year, Da_Czar started to deploy more true-to-today play-books and play execution to teams like the San Antonio Spurs. This was awesome but these improvements were not extended to all modes. That was unfortunate. I understand the different teams pooled resources (ie Simballer and Leftos working together) so there is hope but past history shows that MyCareer is often last to get some of those same improvements.

4: MyCareer. I have a lot of hopes and worries here. So many that I can't even give a concise and sweet summary.

5: Gimmick over Sim. One of the most disappointing fact of 2K titles recently has been the prominence of the flop. Not only is the flop featured more in 2K than in the NBA itself now but it has taken precedence in the control scheme over the much more basic and utilized fake pass. I was so disappointed when Mike changed the controller scheme a couple of years back. Vladdy Divac retired years ago, the flop is becoming less and less of a factor, yet 2K is stuck in the 90's it seems with regard to this.

6: Technical Worries. I've lost 100,000s of vc due to corrupted files in 2k15. In older versions of 2k, I could often recover some of my lost time, effort and "vc"/points with prior restores. I know that there is a new security back-up for MyLeague but what about MyPlayer related modes? This is an essential area to improve in.

I'll stop here. When MyCareer info is released I will no doubt have more specifics in that area but for now it is best to wait and see what is said.

Part of this seems to be related to audio syncing. In 2K15, the refs always held the ball until the audio being played got to a trigger point. It is very frustrating.

Blocking a shot without my hand going through the ball!

                            Hands up defense that works.

Better defensive movement like last gen 2k14

1: offscreens and p&r screens better executed, in offense amd defense. The screen player should look for the defensive player. Zipper sets, floppy sets, cut sets, hammer sets, etc, should be better executed.
2: catch and shoot better implemented. The player should correct his stance to execute better the shooting to the basket, with a little jump pre-shooting or other animations.
3: more contextual passes in p&r and p&pop, alley-oops, baseline passes, cuts, in and out passes, handoffs - to improve elbow sets execution -, etc.
4: Players fighting for every inch in the court, in the post, in the p&r, in offscreens, in rebounds, etc.
5: More diversity in rebounds. Long rebounds should be in. Atletic rebounders, IQ rebounders, height rebounders, etc. kind of players.
6: 1v1 should be quite difficult (at least on a regular basis) if it isn't a missmatch and if there isn't a p&r or set execution involved. A simple turbo, change of direction or going backwards shouldn't be enough to create space. Skill + play execution to guarantee good shots. So, more contact between players would be nice.
7: Better spacing. Zone defense, bad execution of 2v1 and offensive charges should be punished with it.
8: Better post game. The offensive charge shouldn't be so overpowered, as it shouldn't be moving your defensive opponent below the hoop.
9: More contextual layups, floaters, eurosteps and dunks, avoiding the block, but also making them blockable if they are not executed my skillful players or the defensive player is good at blocking .
10: Better play execution: faster, more contact between players, better handoffs passes, better cut sets, more branches in a play, etc.

A few concerns and hopes i like to share:
in order of importance to me.

                                1. Most important and most annoying thing is the input delay. Offline and Online either way. This ruins all the good things 2k may do in regards of Gameplay and Game Modes. If there is a significant delay in offensive and defensive responsiveness the game is kind of useless to me. And I am not talking about zero lag. There will always be kind of a delay I know that. Even last gen was better in that department.

                                2. Gameplay and AI Issues all together: A gazillion times I got more and more frustrated by the bad offensive and defensive AI of my teammates and/or of my opponents. Some examples:
                                - Cutting to the basket, when you have a wide open shot, right before the pass.
                                - Pick and Roll Offense was non-existent
                                - Passing and passing speed was not crisp and look flat
                                - Shooting mechanics were annoying. While contested Fade Away Jumpers and Mid Range Shots were strongly overpowered on the one hand, lightly contested lay ups and finishing at the rim was nearly impossible.

                                3. Control Scheme: Calling Plays was handled to complicated. In Last Gen you could call plays without stopping the movement of your player. Now you had to let the left stick go.

                                4. Playbooks and Plays in General: Playbooks and Plays were way to similar. Beside from Freelance Play, which was a good thing in theory, most of the Plays took a lot of time and were broken and useless. Custom Playbook Saving is essential.

                                5. Training Modes and Mini Games:
Training Modes and Mini Games could be a lot of fun and competitive. First of all I spend several hours in the Training Mode of 2k13. You could choose from every play in the whole playbook on the fly. Activate and Deactivate the Defense and defensive formations of the CPU. Beside from that a Fifa style training mode could be a lot of fun regarding the competitive nature of learning the controls and mastering the game.

These are my main concerns. I hope:

                                1. 2k will improve their online structure and handle the load of traffic that will occur through the new modes very well. The customization options will lead to tons of data.

                                2. I think 2k showed that they are open to discuss and learned from their past mistakes. Unlike other sports titles: Especially Fifa. They show progress in terms of Game Modes.
