Man this has to be the best news for us sim heads. Finally, finally, we can have legitiment six men. hopefully this helps with minutes. Meaning if you have two guys that are forced non starters but their overalls are higher than the starters, the non-starters should still get at least 25-30minutes per game. As opposed to just one of them like in the previous years.

Damn, Kobe drama infecting this thread too. Anyway...
All basketball problems were fixed with basketball solutions
...its just good to know there are people on the inside who think along the lines i do.
One thing that hasn't been talked about much is, that if foot planting really works well, it should really do a lot to prevent the CPU from getting so many of those animation boosts that it gets in so many situations, e.g., 50/50 balls, close outs, catching up to players on the fastbreak.
I honestly feel like CHOOPS 2k8 was the last game where I didn't see a lot of those kinds of situations. It's frustrating when those boosts continually override ratings.
Using basketball solutions obviously ameliorates the need for that kind of stuff.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: SimNation Sim Hangout Tonight taking question (Da_Czar & OG)
I was reading this thread after watching the sim hangout, impressed and envious of the deepness of knowledge and the way these guys talk ball and sim like a first language. I was definitely not expecting to read my name in any context here. That means a lot especially coming from you, van.
Did you or anyone else catch how we scheme switches for pick and roll defense this year? I asked a couple times but it was probably missed. It sounded like you had some control over who switches and how the team guards certain players but I'm not sure it means you can set switch conditions based on the matchups that would produce. I can see an interface to control this fully being a bit fiddly.
That late-clock switching I saw in the OG blog is sweet though! There was no way to replicate that last year.Basketball Playbooks

Re: SimNation Sim Hangout Tonight taking question (Da_Czar & OG)
I didn't hear them say anything about it, but Irl you take advantage of mismatch. Look to the mismatch either in the post or a quick ISO on the switch with slower defender on the PG., or even a pick n slip. With my teams I'd run pass and then set a pick n slip away from ball to teams who switch all on or off ball screens but doubt that's an option in 2k just yet, but late in the clock will be tough. The key I think this year like czar said is look to get in offense and score early. Gone are the days we set quick pnr or ISO with 5 seconds on the clock and no problem. It will be funny to see how guys adjust.Comment

Ah I was more talking about how to scheme the switching defense. For instance, the Warriors switch a lot, but if Bogut ends up having to switch onto a speedy PG, I'd probably just ICE the pick and roll with Curry, and the P&R switches should happen only when both defenders can take their ensuing match ups after the switch. Meanwhile a P&R that involves Bogut and Curry defending would pretty much never switch.Basketball Playbooks

Re: SimNation Sim Hangout Tonight taking question (Da_Czar & OG)
Oh gotcha. I'm pretty sure they said that only teams like bucks with similar athletes who can guard multiple positions would use this strategy. Except late in the shot clock you might see a bogut curry switch occasionally. But from my understanding you won't see a bogut or curry switching if a pnr is ran with 15 seconds on shot clock for example. I'm curious to see this all in action and how and when the CPU defensive ai adjusts and changes.
So it sounds like the AI decides the switch for you based on your settings and the matchups that would ensue?Comment

Re: SimNation Sim Hangout Tonight taking question (Da_Czar & OG)
One amazing thing I heard from that podcast was the fact that you can really feel the speed difference between guys like Teague and Wall. Teague is fast as hell lol. But Wall is just on a whole other level. In years past, all athletic PGs felt the same in terms of speed. Glad to hear Wall stands out.Comment

Yes the way I understand it it will factor in personnel, situation, what has been happening throughout game, etc...Basketball Playbooks

I would probably want more direct control, especially when I'm supposed to figure out when the AI thinks we're supposed to be switching, but it at least sounds workable.Comment

Re: SimNation Sim Hangout Tonight taking question (Da_Czar & OG)
Ya I'm same way but you still have that option. Then on the show it also said there were quick adjustments where I can put all my defenders to switch, go under, over, double, etc. pretty cool to be able to do that on the fly (I'm assuming that's what was meant by adjusting on the fly). But I do want to see how the CPU ai defends certain situations. If it's as smart as it sounds I might use more often. If not I'll just go back to what I always do make a million adjustments per game. But 1 thing I'm curious about that would maybe drive me crazy is when the CPU decides to double team for you? What if they did this late automatically and left a shooter wide open and if caught me by surprise? Or is it smart enough to send the double by leaving a non shooter open rather than a good shooter?Basketball Playbooks

This thread is for discussion on NBA2K16 and what the Simhangout discussions have entailed, including people asking questions, getting them answered and discussing it here.
If you guys want to talk NBA stuff use the NBA forum. We are getting direct LIVE feedback from devs, so please let people who come here for that stuff get it without runing it for them.
This is one reason why im not very lenient with people on the forum during zero tolerance, because they take stuff too far and it gets out of hand and ruins alot of threads and the forums as well..... Just letting you know. Now please, back on topic guys
BTW, im not calling anyone out individually, but this is one thread that is useful, has great information and is sane, lets keep it that way.Comment

Re: SimNation Sim Hangout Tonight taking question (Da_Czar & OG)
BTW 2 things
Scott OG mentioned one of the community guys who knows how to play got their tactics blocked by the CPU
He also said they were down by 18 at the half (cpu Bucks) so the cpu put some work on them.
Da Czar mentioned how at one point, OG put a defensive scheme in the game and he couldn't score AT ALL.... so he had to go back and put in a new offense to combat it
Same for OG, Da Czar had an offense in the game, and OG and his engineer stayed in the office from 830am til 9am the next day trying to stop it...
This is definitely some exciting news and something im not sure 2k has ever had before...not like, the devs battling trying to out execute eachother on opposite sides
So basically those My League games are gonna be some work, and they'll matter a whole lot moreComment

After listening and reading I want to play against the bucks and try my hand against them. All this talk about there length...I need to see to believe. It's one of those things that we've asked for....wingspans....but I never imagined it as something used as strategy. I've always asked for wingspan for better visualization for the players....Comment
