Yall forget MyCareer is basically like a movie/story within the game. Complaining about his nickname is basically like complaining that Solid Snake's name is Solid Snake in Metal Gear.

The criticism isn't unfair, and your analogy isn't fair. NBA 2K is a sports simulation. Solid Snake is the codename of a spy/soldier.

I bet it is just like 2k15... where the commentary says your name it will (if in data base) but wherever the nick is used (ie Doris Burke talking about last game exploits) we will get our new nickname.

I think I see what you mean. I believe the commentary team will say "Freq" in like the beginning of games when they are talking about what happened like if the story caused you to get into some trouble or etc because it's a MyCareer thing. But once it's actual gameplay and they are just announcing like any other mode, maybe they'll call me "Money", but I am just not sure 2K will let me choose a nickname. Luckily, my name is in the system.

It says "Be the story" and it's supposed to be "MyCareer". I don't mind the story as long as it's not forced. But we also want our own name being said. I don't think it's as big as some are making it, but if it was your actual name, that would be a very dumb move.

Also some people are thinking about proam like me. Just was wondering if people would be able to choose nicknames like the past.

As much as 2K "seems" to be in tune with the community I swear they make some really questionable decisions at times. 99% of people playing this game don't want their player being referred to as Frequency Vibrations no matter the stories reason. Smh

Ya. I chose 2 names from active players, so I know the names will be in the data base. Last year it was: Scott Fournier.. but all the classic names should be in the data base too so you can be: Jerry Divac if you want ( from Jerry West and Vlad Divac).

If what LD2K said is true, I won't be playing MC. I was already annoyed with them sticking with having a forced story and on the fence about playing MC anyway, but that nickname is downright stupid and not being able to change will be a deal breaker for me. I'll stick to MyGM, MyLeague and I might even play MyTeam for the first time.

Once you get past the "movie first part" I bet it rarely is an issue.

In 2K14 and 15 the only time I really noticed them using the nickname was in Doris' sideline reports.... 95% of the time it still should be your name.
