Best to call them. For those preordering at Gamestop, double check the store's closing time. My local gamestop will close up shop at 10:00 PM Thursday, 2k16 release.

Paid in full for my Gamestop preorder, will be picking it up at 9:01 pm Thursday (normally closes at 8:00 pm; Oakland Gamestop; Pacific time). Had the impression I could have also waited until 12:00 am Friday if I so chose, but the associate said they're only open til 10 pm Thursday. If I go at 12:00 midnight, they'd be closed and I would have to wait until Friday morning. Flip flopped between digital and physical, finally decided on physical standard disc version.

Go on their website, and enter in your zipcode to see if your Gamestop is having a midnight release. Having said that, I would call to confirm just in case, unless you do not mind risking driving there and them being closed as the info was wrong.

I miss the gamestop we had here. it got closed down when someone decided to tear down and rebuild the baywalk plaza. It was the only reason many of us came down the plaza, other than the movies. But for some reason gamestop didn't return after the reconstruction.

anyhow, they used to always hold a midnight party for games like nba 2k, madden and call of duty. It would have been cool to be at the midnight release, because they would sometimes hold a tournament in the movie theater hours before midnight. We would get a chance to play the new release on the big screen. Now I just preorder my games from the xbox marketplace. It's cool because I've already downloaded 2k16, but I'm missing what became a tradition for us gamers in my area.

I went with the eBay guy who had PS4 discs only. He seemed pretty legit and answered all my questions. To only pay retail and get it 36 hours early, seems like a bargain to me. I got burned on Madden by the infamous "LA Guy", so I'm forever weary lol. Hopefully I'll be playing by this time tomorrow

Well, flip flopped again. Decided to go digital last minute. Downloading as I type. Will cancel my fully paid Gamestop preorder tomorrow.

Reason being, 2k16 will be on my playlist for the entire year, possibly more. Would rather go physical for games that I don't plan to keep so that I may recuperate a percentage of any dollar amount spent reselling. Would hate to keep swapping out 2k16 just to play another game if I intend to play 2k16 the majority of the time.

Two NBA2k16 files currently downloading:
2.2 GB
4.6 GB

Anyone pre-ordered for PS4?

When should I expect to be able to download the actual game (obviously, not play, but simply download the pre-order game)?


EDIT: Found the answer in another thread. Two OS members replied saying after these two smaller 2.2gb and 4.6gb file downloads the larger, real game starts the download process. And yes, that's exactly what's happening.

The last game I bought from them (Batman) turned up 3 days after release date. If there's any issues with 2K16, I'll never use them again. I find that the order status bit on their site takes a while to update. I bought a couple of WiiU games from them recently and they arrived at my house three hours before I got the 'Order completed' confirmation e-mail.
