I never use them. Even though I'm old enough to remember in good detail all of the teams from 1980 onward, they just don't have any appeal to me. With sports video games I have very few nostalgic inclinations.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -
Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
At the end of the day (regarding this threads purpose).. It doesn't even really matter if it's mostly what the 'retro heads' wanting these teams authentic. Fact is - if 2K takes their time, authenticates the hell out of these historic, on next gen, and promotes THESE, with modes, online, etc..
They will indeed be popular and used by the masses.
Even a kid who doesn't know much about these classics, if the game has strong emphasis on them (a la myplayer) THEY WILL BE USED. It's all in 2k's hands.
It's all about what they put their resources and time and promotion into. The buyers will follow. Right now it isn't historical team accuracy and modes. They only have them for offline quick match and seasons right?

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
After honeymoon phase of the initial new graphics and animations I used to spend the next 2 months creating 3-4 insanely accurate 2kshare retro teams with CAP and roster edits, etc. I spent so much time on those from each animation to sock length. I always had some of the top downloads.Man I used to create 3-4 historic teams on my own. Just 5-6 players a team before 2k added historic teams. I played a lot w historic teams on last gen. The tv filters and swipes they added were amazing, I'm still upset they removed em. But with updated graphics on the newer consoles, the only teams that don't look ridiculous are 2000s and maybe late 90s teams. The older teams w their generic shoes and just overall ugly designs keep me from using them.
People will use them, if they look and feel right. Just look at fight night.. Everyone uses classic fighters. I hate to say this, but if 2k were to actually give us detailed classic players, shoes, tv filters etc. Instead of just phoning it in... I would pay for that DLC. And please let us use them online. That blows my mind why we can't use them on non ranked
My Yao/Tmac rockets, 2001 Bucks, and JKidd Nets were tops in 2k12.

Historic teams and your usage of them
Wouldn't be buying this game without either retro teams or roster sharing. Don't get me wrong, I'll use the current teams and I'll be trying MyCareer, but 80%+ of my time on this game will be spent playing a retro-team season mode, because now there are enough retro teams to do so without having a ridiculous amount of duplicity.

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
Fantasy draft for MyLeague,
i replace the wack teams like the knicks with 65 celtics, pistons with 96 bulls
i use the historic teams for quick match too
Teams i rarely use in quick match/head-to-head
71 Hawks
85 bucks
72 Lakers(waste of space)
91 lakersComment

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
I'll probably run a myleague with a team like this:
PG: Magic Johnson - Oscar Robertson - John Stockton
SG: Michael Jordan - Pete Maravich
SF: Larry Bird - Julius Irving - Scottie Pippen
PF: Bill Russell - Moses Malone - Karl Malone
C: Kareem Abdul-Jabaar - Wilt Chamberlain
Pretty ridiculous, sure, I'll admit it, especially since I'll edit salaries down, but I'll enjoy running the current league with this team of legends.Comment

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
How would you use a team like that? Just curious. I wouldn't be able to generate any offense without floor spacing.I do a legends-current day roster with them for a MyLeague every year.
It's pretty fun because you can get some really unique rosters that I'm always curious how they will mesh.
For example, the Pistons will have:
PG. Isaiah Thomas
SG. Joe Dumars
SF: Richard Hamilton
PF: Ben Wallace
C: Andre Drummond
Sixth Man: Chauncey Billups.
I am really curious how Wallace and Drummond will mesh.Comment

For a team like that, you need Harlem Globetrotters uniforms [emoji1]

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
You know, that is not a bad idea. Not at all. I already planned on relocating a team to start my reign of terror, but I didn't really have any idea on where to go with the name/uniform.
Thanks for the inspiration!Comment

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
Has anyone heard any inside on this? No research is showing there's online with legends. Chances are slim but I'd play that till sunrise if it exists

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
You plan on editing some of these new historic teams and releasing roster? I'm gonna try and add shoes/accessories to raptors/rockets/suns/MavsAfter honeymoon phase of the initial new graphics and animations I used to spend the next 2 months creating 3-4 insanely accurate 2kshare retro teams with CAP and roster edits, etc. I spent so much time on those from each animation to sock length. Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
If they have the ability to edit and share then I'd consider. Nowadays it's less likely, with only having time to play and little to none for creating.
Those retro teams used to take me many hours
