I definitely plan on doing this. I spend a lot time on each part just like you. Im a retro head as well , so I want to create either a 2001 or 2002 roster on PS4. Since the game is just coming out, it will take longer to make each team since there probably will not be any rosters to edit and fix.

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
My brother and I would always pick our favorite players, Kobe, MJ, Shaq, etc then we trade everyone we selected to our teams and duke it out in the finals every year.
A fun way to mix it up too is to the the 3 randoms method. You go to H2H/Play Now and you can hit the random button three times. You can pick from one of the 3 teams that you got OR you can hit the random button a fourth time, but you'll be stuck with the 4th team no matter what.Los Angeles Lakers, Las Vegas Golden Knights, Atlanta Falcons

I would definitely be interested in helping create an accurate 2001 roster. One of my favorite seasons.I definitely plan on doing this. I spend a lot time on each part just like you. Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
I usually start a franchise replacing all the new teams with old ones and need a pen and paper sometimes to make sure I'm doing it right.
I then make 4 or so teams user but predominantly play with the Sonics to relive the glory days of the glove and kemp tearing it up.
This year I'll also include the '00 raptors and dunk it up with Vince and T-Mac
... Another usage is I'll make the current raptors consist of my favourite players past and present. This is very hard to do because you need role players, they can't all be scorers. Once I had Bird, Jordan and Magic, but every other player had to be a passing or rebound specialist or someone you bring in for a few min a game who can hit corner 3s or something. So instead of including someone like Shaq, you gotta go with someone else. I think I used Rodman too because it's fine seeing him get 15 boards and 2 pts.
But for me it's all about that golden age. Nothing like going into each city and seeing those icons - NY and Ewing, Atl and Dominique, Denver and the finger wag, Utah with the mail man and stockton, it seems like every team had an iconic player with a distinct style - which today I can't really say the same thing or even close to it, times have changed and the game has changed and people have changed.
That is a big reason people are clamouring for Barkley, what an absolute house back in the day. Short PF that was a BEAST! Not only that, but most teams even had memorable supporting side kick's ... Thunder Dan Marle, as someone mentioned, Anthony Mason the bodybuilder look, you had Kevin Willis on the Hawks, John Starks on NY ... you can just go on and on endlessly... Today there are some teams like that to give them credit, but a whole whack of teams that are just kind of blah.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
1. play them against current teams
2. play some classic rivalries celtics vs lakers or bulls vs pistons etc
3. make all time best teams
4. add all legends to free agency and start a season with random players
5. add 2 or 1 player only onto current teams and play a season.Comment

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
I generally don't play with them (and the Euro Teams) much until I start to get bored with MyLeague and looking for something "fresh"; usually around February or March. I will test out the new additions, though. Afterwards, it'll fall by the wayside for the most part...Comment

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
Yeah I do let's split up the 2001 teams and make an ultimate roster.. We already have a good start with Lakers, Sixers, Blazers, most of Raptors (2000) with only touch ups needed. I can recreate my old Nets, Bucks teams in no time. Throw that 2000 Tmac on Orlando and we have a good start.

Also can't wait to get the roster into MyLeague where can you fix the jerseys and courts to be accurate for that year. Will be very authentic.Yeah I do let's split up the 2001 teams and make an ultimate roster.. Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
Totally opposite, I use classic teams as much if not more than the current teams. It's what I grew up watching.I see a lot of people that want team A, B, or C... I've been thinking about it and in all my 2k time combined I think I have used them maybe 6 times, I don't play with real life friends so I can see that making a difference. Anways, the question is how often and how do you use them?

Re: Historic teams and your usage of them
I do a legends-current day roster with them for a MyLeague every year.
It's pretty fun because you can get some really unique rosters that I'm always curious how they will mesh.
For example, the Pistons will have:
PG. Isaiah Thomas
SG. Joe Dumars
SF: Richard Hamilton
PF: Ben Wallace
C: Andre Drummond
Sixth Man: Chauncey Billups.
I am really curious how Wallace and Drummond will mesh.
I have always done all time teams as well.
it's always been all time Lakers- magic kobe Elgin Shaq Kareem vs all time Celtics - rondo/cousy, pierce bird McHale Russell- in the finals
