Yeah that's correct. It only has me for 8 games of user play. I'm on game 3 out of 8

this would be the most troubling news so far to me... are you saying our first MyCareer NBA season we only get to manually play 8 games, and the rest are simmed because of a storyline?

I'm sorry but that's just taking this storyline stuff too far. It's like the player isn't even in charge of their own career anymore, and just has to play 2k's predetermined path. This would definitely be a much worse change from what MyCareer used to be. I'm hoping I'm wrong and misunderstood what you said though

I may be in the minority on this one but I'm actually fine with how it handles the MyCareer (storyline wise).

I do completely understand why others would hate it though. Maybe they could have done separate career modes. Make a MyStory for the storyline handled career and MyCareer for anyone that wants full control.

what about being forced to sim NBA games is a positive? at least in previous MyCareers they gave us the option to sim if we didn't want to play the whole season, but they never took the choice away from those that did.

That is wrong to. That is why I plan to before I play my first game upgrade my player with bought vc and put all upgrade attributes on him so I can cap out at like an 86 or around there. I will play a 6'8 PG position and probably UCLA for college for my player.

This is great news. I loved starting at 40 in 2k11. You became too good too fast in 2k15.

too fast? ... I figure it took 80 hours of gameplay or so to become decent like a 78 overall or maybe 80.

To me that's too slow simply because real players aren't slow and terrible at layups when they get to the NBA or they would never get there in the first place.

outside shooting/IQ/pick and roll O&D/passing/ball security/ that can all be basement level, but I personally hate picking an "athletic" player who should be this raw phenom coming out of college, but his speed is 60 vert 60 and so on. I'd rather the grind be in post offence and defence and rebounding rather than spending the 1st 60 hours just getting him to 80 speed and vert and so on,...that was his most impressive abilities coming in so they should be impressive even at the pro level to start with.

Same thing with other strengths to start out with like defence and so on...

This problem is it's almost impossible to balance "real" and the game, because no way in real life would they allow me to get off 50 shots a game as a rookie, every single game. Also, the first time I took a wild 3 point shot trying to get limitless range, I would also be benched, I would be seen as a cancer in the league.

The myplayer most people use is what JR Smith wants to do in real life, and you see how far that got him.

I played what felt like a lot of career games (99 overall center + some other PGs I got up over time) and I never got that deep into the league. I'm ok if my rookie year goes by quicker that normal because I never played that long anyways.

In the off days and endorsements trailer it says something like 'Welcome to the 2016-17 season' and then they talk about how it's your career from there.
