i tried to edit the thread title but it wouldn't let me

oh well, grown men shouldn't be that sensitive. if you make a mistake own up to it and do better.

some of these ratings are laughable....all 2k has to do is say "my bad" and correct them.

they had nash with 65 on ball defense from the 2002-2003 mavs, that was accurate. give phoenix nash those same attributes and we're good to go.

I think someone above nailed it though: in certain instances, they (2K roster folks) inflated some ratings to get players to a certain overall, which just goes back to what I said in another thread: get rid of overall ratings. In order to satisfy the "overall rating" crowd, they in turn have players doing things in the game that they could not do on the court. Pointless IMO.

      It's most definitely subjective.

why are they needing to update rosters when the season hasn't even started yet? lmao.

thats what im talking about....they need to check this stuff before they release the game

in the future they should probably release the detailed ratings like a month before the game drops so they have time to check feedback from the 2k customers.

I post on another board and everyone is in agreement that the nash defensive rating is one of the worst mistakes of all time.

Re: Some of these ratings prove that the 2k team doesn't watch/play basketball

I think they rate on maximum ability rather than actual production. That makes all the player overalls skew too high. There are still some glaring misses but I think that's the real issue.

From previous years if you completely rework the rosters based on their previous years averages most guys drop a bunch (stars are generally closer to their real ability because they always have to produce).

You'd get most of the league in the mid-low 60 with some decent starters (role players) being in the low 70s and all star level players in the mid 80s which wreaks havoc on the ai in the franchise modes since a players value is solely based on their ovr.

It bothers a lot of people to see low overalls as well but the stats come out better and you get less cheese since the abilities aren't overinflated.

That said unless you're manipulating every draft class the entire league will be rookies to third years in 5 years since the draft classes are horribly inflated as well. Most NBA rookies are closer to high 50s to mid 60s ovr than the ~70 that seems to be the baseline of most of the draft classes.

The overall team ratings for the classic teams are a joke too. The 07 Cavs are rating an 86 overal. Really?

I can't believe the amount of defense in 2k's favor i am seeing. In what world was Steve Nash ever a B in onball defense, and Chris Paul a C in speed?

These devs listen to boards like these, and the overall tone of the comments is, "It's ok". Smh.

The ratings do need some work. Can somebody explain how D. Russell on the lakers is rated higher tha Jordan Clarkson even though Clarkson was all rookie and clearly outperformes Russell in summer league? Also they have Jordan Clarksons speed at a whopping 74!!! A 74 for speed for a point guard who is 23 and is called baby westbrook by some a 74 in speed! Im not going to get into a franchise or do mucn until updates are made on ratings and the defense needs to be toned down.

Classic team ratings have always been pretty bad. I've been advocating for the 04-05 Suns to make an appearance and now that they finally have, they got them wrong. Overall they only have an 88 on offense which is ridiculously u low and they have an 82 rating on defense which is actually much too high.

Of course it is still subjective when there doesn't exist any scale - "Hall of Fame" or not - that quantifies basketball IQ, defense, or athleticism. It comes down to the roster makers discretion and whether we believe it aligns with reality. Most times it does, but sometimes it doesn't as well.

lets go back to 2k15 for a second,

they gave Nique a 80 or 85 3pt shot in his Card in Myteam. the season that card is credited for he shot 17% from the 3 that season.

and i believe they did a similar thing for Jordan. some of 2k ratings are completely off for whatever reason.

when this was brought up on here people posted stuff like, its fanasty, it doesnt matter, its ok like nooooo. thats game breaking.this is on top of the fact that his Jumper was EASY AS HELL ,and how bad patch 4 made the game

I tend to use the roster by the people that make the game outside of mlb the show because you have triple A, double A and single A teams and a lot of fake players but going threw this thread makes me want to use some bodies rosters lol.
