All Knicks fans like myself remember that awesome season he had in 12-13 when he actually had his head on his shoulders. He seemed as if he matured a that season, and won Sixth Man of the Year. Had a few nice game winners too when Melo was out with injury.

But then he elbowed Jason Terry... All downhill from there.

I love the "because you're controlling him so he can't be dumb" argument. Yeah cause a bunch of people playing 2k are just infinitely times more basketball intelligent then a professional basketball player.

just a lazy argument. his weaknesses are minimized in the game for whatever reason which makes him so great in every iteration, in my opinion. he's a very mediocre ball handler, i'm not sure why people think otherwise. he struggles controlling the ball, and for some reason people seem to think because he has a flashy game he has jamal crawford or even nick young like handles, which he doesn't. he's a great spot up shooter, no doubt about it, and he can get hot in a hurry, but he can get cold just as fast which isn't shown enough in 2k.

if you keep shooting with great shooters/scorers in 2k, you're going to start making them eventually, which isn't true in real basketball. players can struggle for multiple games in a row, where as if jr, young, crawford, and those type of streak guys even have 1 or 2 bad games the user gets up in arms about it.

He EASILY has at least Swaggy P handles. His handles definitely aren't bad.

LOL I'm not complaining, I'm discussing a player that I like in the game. I just like discussing players that I like to use.

Re: Is J.R. Smith Always Going to be 2K Royalty?

Knowing when to shoot and when not to are part of your basketball IQ. In that regard, yes I am smarter than a pro basketball player such as JR Smith.

It's not hard to understand when you have Kyrie/Lebron/Love to not shoot ill-advised 3's...at least not 5 a game. They'll get you looks. JR has no chill when it comes to an "open" look. He's going to shoot.

He could've been possibly better than Wade...look at his range on his shot...he just never had the focus to take the next step...and that's off the court too.

I mean you can't complain because he'll never average 25 in a full season in 2K...and quick games anyone can go off so you can't say it shouldn't happen.

Oh and we need a transition dunk vs half court dunk rating. Someone like JR might do something flashy in transition, but in a set he's not gonna posterize people.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Well in 2k you get to play with JR and his crazy talent without his not so talented brain. So the chains are off.

There are a few players like JR who I always wondering what they would be like if that been playing for someone like Coach Pop.

Javale, JR, and Josh Smith specially come to mind. Those guys have all the tools yet do inane things or play outside their strengths on the court.

The real is you guys take certain skills and jump to conclusions. Jr was never going to be better than dwade or a top 5 guard in the nba. I would say he.has a ove avg ball iq just because he didnt fill your expectations doesnt mean hes stupid.

I dont think jr could have turned out better than he is

That's the thing, he didn't do anything flashy in transition last year either, just some breakaway simple two-handed flushes. Then out of nowhere he tries some crazy acrobatic alley-oop...and misses it. And that's what it should feel like to play as JR.

In fact, his lifetime dunk make percentage is pretty bad. This is why he needs the low dunk rating, and low contact dunk rating because like you said, he hasn't dunked over anybody in years. And with the low dunk rating, if he is player controlled and tries something fancy, he should miss just like real JR. Flashy dunk tendency should be mid-high so that AI JR Smith still tries those crazy moves out of nowhere, too.

Exactly. Its a trend when it comes to black players who apparently didnt reach their peak. Iq is always the thing that held them back..
