Every time down the court I would try running straight into my defender and it didn't result in anything, if anything I found it easier to get past my defender, and I saw a lot of defenders dropping to the ground (flopping?). Disappointing test.
I see a decent amount of charge calls. I don't know how it plays out with 12 min quarters as I have only been playing 6 trying to get used to the controls. But I don't have a problem there. What I did do, though, was lower driving contact frequency to 40 so that I could get around my defender easier. That's it. And it seems to have had the effect of increasing charges. May want to give it a shot...

I'll try this out. But I should also mention that DeMarcus Cousins who led the league in charges taken the last 2 seasons has his tendency only set to 40. While guards are set higher. I think this is because the developers know it results in more bodies dropping which would result in easy baskets in the paint if a big man kept falling down. Marreese Speights was like 5th on the Charges Taken list and he's only a 35. Theres something wrong here.

Re: This game is simply NOT a true simulation

I think the problem is the randomness of the fouls. That's what takes away the sim experience for me. Sometimes a player isn't even touched and it gets called. Others he basically gets pushed and nothing happens. I've seen ONE charge call and that was randomly triggered when I jab stepped and the ball handler threw an elbow.. which I thought was ridiculous.

I see a good amount of free throws, but it's the way the fouls happen that bothers me. And that is DEFINITELY not the ONLY thing keeping this from being a true sim. Lol so many other issues cause that. The dribbling off of feet, the idiotic AI, the atrocious passing, it's a decent game but has a ways to go.

Sounds like what happens in the real league.

You can't get realistic stats without real foul calls. fouls affect other parts in basketball stats like blocking and FTA (shooting fouls and bonus) turnovers (charging) steals (reaching) Rebounds (loose ball and O.T.B fouls).

And the guys who say the game will be longer and take many time it's perhaps for shooting fouls. But non-shooting fouls take Not more than 1 minute. Most people skip that and continue to play. If I play 12 min quarter it take 1 hour. If I raise the non shooting fouls between 3-5 it will take maximum 3 further minutes.

Yep yep makes a big difference in the pace of the game because for example in real life you may have the ball and be down to 10 on the shoot clock and then have a non shooting fouled called. So then you have to take the ball out and you may then get a shoot with 5 on the shoot clock. Now that means you took 14 seconds off the clock before the foul and now you took from 14-5 other 9 seconds to get a shoot off. So now you took 14+9 seconds for a shoot that time 23 seconds. In the game you don't have that so instead of maybe taking 23 seconds to get a shoot you may have no call and get a shoot around 10 on the shoot clock only 14 seconds 9 seconds faster then you would have had there been a foul. I think there are to man problems that cause this type of stuff.

1 you don't really have away from the ball fouls and 2 a lot of times guys when they have the ball and are trying to dribble will get bump and no foul will be called even though it would be a foul in real life like 80% of the time. When you get shoots off a lot faster then real life because of no fouls sever times a game it makes it so that you are going to get more shoots in a game then you would if those fouls where called. No NBA game has really done this while though. Just about ever NBA game has had like 95% of there fouls being shooting fouls.

Sounds like he real NBA lol. There are a lot of calls in the NBA where guys get like tackled and there is no call and a lot of times a guy will hardly get touched and yet they call a foul. Nba refs are really bad. I would say like 40% of the time in the NBA they either call a foul on something that is not a foul or they don't call something that should have been called.

Anthony Davis fouls out early in the 4th every other game for me in MC.

Great post. Randomness and lack of variety are major issues.
