Yes, they can't advertise anything they want, they are restricted by the rating in addition to a slew of other regulations. Pedantic but true as I mentioned previously. Moving on..

The real point of the post is that they SHOULDN'T be advertising anything in game in such an irritating way. Having been a long time gamer I have seen some awful in game advertising (this being hilariously blatant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSr7gFkzQHw) but at least those are just product placements you see in passing. This is constant repetitive popups, there should be a permanent opt out option or a don't show again option at minimum.

I personally don't want to be bombarded with adverts every hour about things I'm not interested in especially when I'm playing a game to relax and have fun.

So now I'm curious...what regulations states they can't advertise in that manner????

The ENTIRE game is an advertisement for the NBA.

As for the popping up in the middle of an actual game...provide a screenshot.

never bought VC before in my life

they started popping up for me in last years game as well after the final patch....in last year's game, I believe they popped up in the upper right hand corner though

i got it to work now.

if you are looking for it on ps4 Just keep clicking 35k on the buy vc screen and cancel transaction. then it will pop up when u click it again. this may take several goes. and now i need to email 2k about my missing 35 k

Lol. I had like 300,000 VC last year and never used it. I only play H2H. The adverts are annoying to players like me for sure.

Atleast it goes away after a few seconds so I could care less that it exists. They gotta promote their deals so whatever.

You want a real problem? The pop up in the corner for last years game that said "UPDATE REQUIRED" in a huge box and wouldn't go away until you actually updated. I had that crap come up in the middle of important Career games and Online games and it wouldn't go away.

The manner in which they are advertising is obviously legal, but the content of those adverts are bound by certain regulations, for instance you're not going to see them advertising beer.

No problem with branding of products in the game, just the annoying "buy VC now!" popups which keep coming up all the time. Rather than display a one off message which you can cancel, while the promotion is running is gives you the pop up pretty much on the hour every hour with a timer next to it attempting to persuade you to buy VC. If I was going to buy their shi**y in game currency I would have already, no amount of popup ad harassment is going to change that, just let us opt out and enjoy the damn game we bought.

Yeah that was hella annoying and very distracting when you're trying to concentrate. These popups are similar, last time I was in an iso situation to hit the game winning shot...just as I'm about to take the shot the stupid popup comes up in the corner of my eye and distracts me. I don't want to be advertised to while I'm trying to win a close came on HOF sim with my hilariously outgunned player.

I suspect this is why they are advertising, my guess is that the largest VC sales are at launch and then sales slowly trickle out as players accumulate VC through play or just don't need to buy anything. They have only started advertising a few weeks after launch as their VC sales are starting to taper off after the initial spike at release so they're trying to keep it going by spamming adverts in the middle of everyones games.

Nah man, you aren't seeing the bigger picture. Every year this game is implementing more and more staples of the free to play/mobile genres.

Implementation of micro transactions.

Pay to win/grind to win online modes.

Hiding features of game modes behind a VC wall.

VC is getting harder and harder to obtain. They halved the amount you can get from the app this year, made it harder to get MT in MyTeam, etc.

Haven't played MyGM much this year, but last year they had a ton of stuff hidden behind VC. It makes it really hard to play a lot of game modes at once. You kinda have to pick one and grind it and that's not good for users.

Implementing in game advertisements is something free mobile games do. AND EVEN THEN, mobile games almost always give you an option to pay to make them go away.

It is pretty ridiculous to pay 60 dollars for a game and have 2k force advertisements over your scoreboard in the middle of a game.

I hear what you're saying. And I understand, for sure, just for myself, and the way I play, VC literally never comes into play.

I could care less about Park, or even ProAm, seeing how it doesn't work yet...or even MyGM.

So I guess I am biased there.
