32 been balling since Tecmo and Double Dribble and the OG 2k. Only play offline anymore and most of those are CPU v CPU because I enjoy running the league and coaching as much if not more than playing at this point in my life. It's amazing how far these games have come.

        Re: Older 2K Gamers?

        26 years old.

My first basketball game was some Konami game for the N64. The basketball game I loved the most on that system was NBA Hangtime. That game was pure fun.

I had a sega dreamcast but ironically I never played a 2k game on it. I mainly stuck to arena brawlers, platformers, and fighting games in those days.

Then, when I went on a trip to Mississippi my mom bought this game for me at Circuit City(RIP). EVERYTHING CHANGED!

        Spoiler

I have never had so much fun on a game that didn't have online capability. This game motivated me to get my hands on any basketball game I could.

Later that year, I rented NBA 2k4, played 24/7 mode and it was a wrap after that. Off the top of my head I've played:

        NBA 2k5
        NBA Live 05
        NBA 2k6
        NBA Live 06
        NBA 2k7
        NBA 2k8(All-Time fave)
        And 1 Streetball
        NBA 2k9
        NBA 2k10
        NBA street Homecourt
        NBA 2k11
        NBA 2k13
        NBA 2k14
        NBA 2k15
        NBA Live 15
        NBA 2k16
        NBA Live 16

        and finally, 2k17.

What a long, strange, trip it's been. I used to be the cheesiest of the cheesy type of player too lol. In 2k7 I would do that unstoppable drop step with my 24/7 player every play in Association mode lol.

In NBA 2k4/5 I would turn on trade override, put every all-star player on my team, put the difficulty on rookie, and wreck shop. Then, when I got so bored playing that way and winning all the time I saw some tutorials on youtube and this guy totally changed my perspective on playing sports games.

        It was this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Btu5LGM7S4Q

He might be the sole reason I love 2k8 so much, because that's when I started to actually play the game with some sense.

And now I'm the "strive for realism" sports gamer I am today.

I'm 28 and play as much as I ever have. Been playing basketball games for as long as I can remember.

I played Live until around 03. Made the switch to 2k and never looked back. Played NBA Jam, Hangtime and all of those games as well.

The game that has not been mentioned is Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside for N64. That game is what made me fall in love with basketball videogames. I was never the same after that. Truly a classic game.

I'm 42 as well and Dr j vs bird was the first bball game I had too but for apple McIntosh CPU.
First bball game I played was the handheld mattell one which my friend had. I also had another friend who had a commodore 64 with whatever basketball game it was.
My 2 best bball video game memories are:
              1. I got double dribble for Christmas and Ill never forget how funny it was to me that the mascot for the Lakers was a lake . So dumb but funny lol.
              2. I can't remember which version it was but it was someone vs someone ea basketball for Sega Genesis and you could do the Jordan move where he does a pump fake reverse lay up. Blew my mind.

I got into bball games with TV Sports Basketball on the PC, was an awesome game at the time. Around 91-92 I think.
Played all the others like Jordan v Bird, Bulls/Blazers, NBA JAM etc....
But bball games as we know really took off with NBA Live '95.... I think that was the first time you could create yourself. It was a massive step up from previous games.

Was on and off with Live as they were up and down themselves.
Never touched a 2K game until I bought my son an xb360, saw a copy of 2K11 and bought it..... been hooked ever since. Upgraded to xb1 when I saw what 2k14 looked like.
Even played some park games in 2k14, so I have been a park player from the start.
I almost forgot about TV Sports Basketball. It was a great game for the time. I am 41 and just about followed your trek.

Live 95 was an awesome basketball game, with all the "hidden" players you could access by typing their names in the create a player mode. I left Live with the DreamCast in 1999 and went with NBA 2k basketball.

Aside from taking some years off to go full College Hoops, I have been with NBA2k ever since.

I had no idea I was one of the babies on OS at 28 lol. Been on the 2K bandwagon since 2K7. 2K11 is the best sports video game ever created.

37 here and I've played them all. Atari basketball, Double Dribble, Arch Rivals, Hoops, Tecmo Basketball, Lakers v. Celtics, Coach K College Bball, NBA Showdown, NBA Live 96 with Korean Jordan, NBA Inside Drive....

I arrived at 2K in 2K3 just because of Operation Sports and have been hooked ever since. As flawed a game as 2K17 is, I still have appreciation to where we are now in the current state of sports video games. I came from having no real season mode, no stat tracking, no consistent fouls, too many steals, too many dunks, too many blocks, not enough trades, no injuries, no roster updates, no sliders and no commentary to everything we have now and I'm truly grateful.

You have never truly lived until you grab a pad and pencil and track your own stats.
