No dribble moves, turbo at the rim with Dwight. Defender freezes in place, watches him go by, turbo into defenders chest, still makes the play.

      Good intentions gone wrong

You want body contact but your in a intense contest shot position. Dwight is basically approaching a punch as you relentlessly pursue him at gunpoint lol

The game is definitely simulating something here and my takeaway is that the defense you were in was not appropriate for this context.

Yes, I have Blake and Dwight and want to use them in this fashion in My Team when slow defenders play them tight, deep away from the basket.

you really cant consistently, but with patch 3 you can get a step on those who play out of position, but thats compensated with the improved help defense.

              Quick Tip

The LT / L2 is pressure sensitive : use this trigger with a fethering touch to get the best lateral quickness ability out of your player

Skillfully fethering the Intense D and Turbo triggers can single-handedly improve your on ball defensive skills

              XxxxxxX

When faced with a pull-up: transition into using Intense D + Right Stick towards the shooter

              XxxxxxX

The manual also distinguishes that Intense D plus block will initiate a swat block but I have no vague idea what the difference is between between a swat block and a standard block let alone what a swat block is

              XxxxxxX

My big journey right now I'd learning how to play the system regarding avoiding shooting fouls.. if I use right stick alone I will not get a shot contest animation but I am susceptible to fouls if I use intense D... I wish the CPU would not initiate these animations on their own volition but even with 0 defensive assist strength I am vulnerable to these bites.. nevertheless intense D is advertised as a defensive assist in itself so I'm in a bit of compromise as is..

if i understand correctly we have to option to contest, block, swat block and vertical contest.

a swat block is an aggressive block that bats the ball with force out of bounds or away from the rim and in that case ( IRL) often leads to a fast break.

This was on a 97 rated baller. And i can tell he was no bum. Dude had 9rebs 9asst but 1-11 shooting. Defense is about focus. If u focus on ur assignment. stay in front of him. Don't reach. Get back on d. Good things will happen

You should be gapping him all the way at the free throw line. The result isn't actually that surprising though Dwight driving slow mo looks weird, but that's exactly how you give him the drive.

Are you backing up when he attempts to drive or were you just expecting the body contact animations to take care of it?

While you say they are doing nothing worthwhile on offense, you're also doing "nothing worthwhile" on defense as far as defending a non shooting big at the perimeter by doing the precisely wrong thing.

It's somewhat telling that the gameplay before patch has trained people to do the wrong thing on perimeter defense, thinking body contact animations will take care of everything for them in all situations, regardless of whether it's a center or a small or whether they can shoot.

Im sitting here smh like why TF do I even bother coming in here sometimes bc most ppl in here are not sim at ALL bruh. CAN YOU GUYS SEE!

OK since you all dont see go to 0:03 in the video CLEARLY there should have been a body up animation WHY bc its fxxxxxx BASKETBALL and PHYSICS, you know BODY UP its a contact sport type stuff. You actually think less perimeter contact is better?! 9 times out of 10 You have to BODY UP when cutting off angles bc your trying to stop the ball handlers momentum in that direction to steer him into help d or to his weak side.

Im just getting tired of ppl making comments thinking they know everything knowing the developers are listening so they actually end up taking the advise and its really effing up the game and you come on here and try to justify it bc you like being able to not get Locked up on D. The game was ALREADY and offensive heavy game for YEARS YYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAARRRRRRSSSSS! and now you get them to take away ANOTHER aspect needed to play good defense.

I say I dont know why I come on here bc the nonesense some of you spew like you know what you are talking about might get me banned bc sometimes I just want to really wig out in my responses. if you cant see that there was supposed to be contact in that video when dwight ran right into dudes chest then there's no hope for you and your stubbornness to admit it. I dont care if his hands were up or if he was closing out on a center THE POINT is PHYSICS say he was in PERFECT position to Body up on Dwights drive so stop trying to evade the point and justify the defense being toned down by trying to tell someone what they were doing wrong and lets get that D back in the game. No soft talk round here contact is good REAL good.

Man Yall have literally lost your minds. SMH

Actually dwight went around him....What you want is a blocking foul to stop Dwight and save the defense.
