Yeah I've had some good success RSing/shading toward the baseline and stonewalling guys who like to do it all game....
Wish it resulted in a bit more of a 'bounce back' or stumble though especially if they keep trying to push forwardComment

I'm so sick of this BS man. I'm at the point where I feel the game played better pre-patch. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO NOW IS ONE DRIBBLE MOVE TO BLOW BY YOUR DEFENDER FOR A LAYUP OR DUNK. Seriously try it if you don't believe me. You can do it with the center, the power forward whatever, you're one hestation/crossover from getting to the basket. Teams are shooting in the mid 60's now every game, so much for that "Defense first" commitment from 2K. I feel like every single ear there's always something people can exploit and use to their advantage nd no matter how many patches 2K throws out it never results the isue. Whether it's the zig-zag cheese, the 1-3-1 zone, the fastbreak, or the baseline levitation dunks there's always something 2K "forgets" to address so it can be appealing to casual audiences. After al, who else is gonna buy the game and all that extra vc?

Lol my bad. Let me go get a time machine and ask Pat Riley to trade Kawhi to the 2013 Heat lol. On ball defense is fine. It's the only aspect of defense that is up to par. Too bad there is more to defense than on ball defense. Everything else on that side of the ball is a complete garbage.
The craziest part is that it's the simplest ****. For example one thing I just noticed is that whenever you have a stretch 4 inbounding the ball, 9 times out of 10 after he makes it past half court his defender will ALWAYS be back inside the paint leaving him WIDE open for a three.
Like I said the game is a slap in the face and a big "**** You" to sim players.Comment

As someone who has been rightly upset with the defense in this game, if you feel that on ball defense is OK then I should probably just quit playing now. IMO it is way too difficult for the User to create realistic contact vs CPU offensive players. They can do it against me, but I can't deter them at all on drives to the rim.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Yeah, do all that nonsense with the time machine or whatever....when you get back, pull up the thread again and find the post I was obviously referring to with the user saying they can't defend with Kawhi Leonard.
You can post GIF's with instances of bad D until you crash the page for all I care....and I could keep posting videos of the opposite, but it seems pretty fruitless at this point. Neither is a accurate representation of the entire experience. All I know is I didn't luck my way to the record I have now.Comment

Besides the CPUs constant need to bite for every pump fake I do pretty well playing on ball defense in the half-court setting. I found a good balance of the LT and RT so I can lock dudes up pretty well.

Only problem is no one plays in a half-court because they don't need to. They AI is so bad that you can "fastbreak" on every possession if need be. I've resorted to having to intentionally foul people multiple times a game all because the CPU doesn't get back on defense.
It feels like I'm not only playing against my opponent but my AI teammates as well. It's almost as if the AI is holding me back. It's never been this way in a 2K before.
I have a pretty good record too but the defense is still garbage though.

Meaning that not every instance of transition ends in a defensive break down, nor is every instance covered perfectly....
Me posting clips of successful defense in transition isn't going to change your mind obviously. I'm definitely a "show proof" guy, but I'm not a talk to a brick wall guy....you're minds made up....which is fine....
What the hell though, I'll post some tonight because I like a challenge....lolComment

I do have a question though. The crowd the dribbler function for pgs "seems" to be nerfed now for pgs (from the last 3 games I've played the animation wont trigger while playing this position and guarding another pg),but with other positions I can get it to function with ease. Does it have something to do with player def ratings thats why its not activating with certain players or have they just tuned it down in general?...Just making sure im not going crazy lol

Is this h2h or against the cpu? Why would you use hands up defense? I would've just body the player up and not bother with hands up. The ride animation would've transitioned to a body up drive animation.
Which would lead to a foul or the cpu scoring while in contact.Comment
