Remember, this is an all-time scale. So, to me, if a player is a 99, that means he's having by far one of the best seasons of all time on both ends (I'm thinking Kareem or Jordan) or you have to completely shatter the game of basketball with your skill (like Russell did with his defense).

Curry's shooting and scoring ability is breaking the sport, but not to the extent of Russell IMO.

The only 99 in the game as far as I can tell is 96 Jordan, and that's partially because that season, he excelled in the one aspect of his game he wasn't consistently great at (three-point shooting). His OBDIQ, PNRD, HLPIQ, and PSPER ratings are all 99 as well. So Jordan is simultaneously GOAT-tier as an athlete and with his skills, and then you remove pretty much his only real weakness? 99 is gonna happen.

That'd be like if you took Curry, the greatest shooter ever, and gave him Gary Payton's defensive ratings and Westbrook's athletic ratings. He'd probably be a 99, too. But he doesn't have that IRL. Hence the 96.
In 96 the league shortened the 3pt line, just saying.

I had actually forgotten that, but it still justifies the increase in Jordan's ratings. Imagine if there was a rule change to make it so that Curry excelled at his biggest weakness. He'd probably be a 99 too.

Sup guys... Yep.. Still retired... Hope that you are enjoying the roster.. If you are like me you notice that there is one player not getting busy like he should.. Well.. I fixed him.. I retro fitted him with the Diamond Card with custom tendencies (Get's numbers and percentages).. After testing I found that for some reason his in-game version fitted with with the same card does not perform the same.. But when I made Cap he does.. Go figure...

I'm tardy to the party, but I don't see why Steph Curry is causing so much ruckus in the 2k community. I mean, he shoots the hell outta the ball, and makes pretty good decision with the ball from the pg position. Defense is lackluster at best...

So, why not just give him all 95+ ratings as far as shooting goes, and then rate him accordingly everywhere else?

I don't know if you've seen his ratings. But he has 99 three's standing and moving. 97 standing mid and 96 moving.....

I still think they should just make his offensive consistency 99. I've seen better results with that rating.

But I still think a bad shot is a damn bad shot

For all the people bagging on stephs defense I want to know why they think he plays bad d? Who in your mind is a top flight PG defender? Curry makes excellent reads and jumps the passing lane a lot, gets lots of tips and steals. The old criticism is they "hide" him on defense. He guards his opposite most of them time whomever that may be. Russel Westbrook is the only guy ive seen the warriors have klay guard sometimes but they switch off during the game, not to mention just because klay is guarding doesnt mean they are hiding him, klay is one of the best SG defenders in the league.

The seven moves Stephen Curry mastered to become one of the top point guard defenders in the league.

"He's even frustrating top-caliber opponents. Who knew that the stronger-looking Russell Westbrook struggled with Curry defending him this season? In three games against Curry, Westbrook shot far below his averages, at 32.9 percent from the field and 26.3 percent from deep.

Curry doesn't look like a prototypical defender. He's skinny, not especially long and unathletic enough that it's a surprise every time he dunks. But according to defensive real plus-minus, he has a more positive impact than more celebrated defenders such as Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley his teammate Shaun Livingston. And RPM suggests his defense is the best in the league among MVP-caliber guards, ahead of James Harden, Chris Paul or Damian Lillard."

Any statistics regarding defense for Curry are gonna be inflated because the Warriors are so good as a team. He's not as good as Bradley, Rondo, Holiday, Conley, etc.

Understandable but what evidence is there that hes not a solid defender? If you're a part of excellent team defense should you be penalized? I'm not saying hes an elite defender or hes a shut down guy, Im saying hes a solid defender and this notion that hes lackluster is flat out wrong

Curry should just be 99 in 3PT and Offensive Consistency. everything else is kind of just there to boost his overall.

You shouldn't be penalized for being on a great team, but your defensive stats should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think Curry is a good defender. But the fact that he's not one of the best ever or even one of the best active, plus his athleticism (which is roughly above average), prevents him from earning a 99 overall. That's the point I was trying to make.

I think Curry's athleticism is underrated. He will not dunk over you but he is really, really strong, quick, agile, quick hands, strong core. Athleticism is not only leaping ability and muscles. He is strong and athletic. I bet you'd say that Nash also wasn't athletic. Maybe not like Westbrook but Nash had great quickness, agility, stamina and he was athletic differently than Westbrook (tho definitely not on par)

While I have had to say the past 2/3 seasons that Steph was a better defender than people gave him credit for, he is still not a better one on one defender than Chris Paul.
