After a while guys just stopped straight driving all together and did the drive and stop or drive and hop step, so you couldn't even take advantage of the interior defense

lol oh yeah I forgot about that move. I never used that move at all in this game. Personally I didn't even know that moved exist. But people who played online knew what that move was.....it was a exploit. A mistake 2k didn't know about

There's obviously no definitive/objective answer to this. So, for me, it's in my top 3. I've played every 2k starting with 2k5.

1. 2k13
2. 2k15
3. 2k11

16 is somewhere at the bottom of my list. Control responsiveness is just awful.

The spin dunk in 2k7 was even worse.

Man, Patch 6 for me has been like the 2K11 patch that took it to the next level...been that impressed with it....changed the game.

Only thing that was really almost unstoppable in the right persons hands.

You used to could contain some people because they only could only do it from the post. You would have to reach in the post or press Y to jump. But some figured out how to do it without posting up. Surprised that actually made it through the whole 2K11 w/o a patch.

Who you telling, lol! I'm kinda shocked the spin move was never patched. Honestly, I was surprised that there wasn't more people who picked up on it. I think I only played 2-3 people out of the 500+ online games who used it exclusively.

Out of the all the exploits that I encountered over the years since NBA 2K4, that was the only one that I had zero counter for. I might have figured something out over time, but that spin dunk exploit was a guaranteed two points.

Yep. I dealt w/ it a lot in Crew but the beauty of online games w/ regular teams was the HOF Lobby. If players did it, I would just quit and find another game. But yeah it was a struggle lol.

You're right though. Doesn't seem like a lot of people got hip to it or learned how to do it. If that happened now, almost everyone would be doing it.

Speaking from an offline-only player, my thoughts:

1. 2K11
I'm a big fan of classic teams/rosters and this game was awesome. Magic Johnson played like Magic Johnson. Same with Bird, Magic and everyone else down the line that were featured in the game. Jordan Mode was so well done.

2. 2K12
Legends Showcase (probably called something else) was a love letter to the different eras of basketball. The era-specific filters and presentation took the game to another level. I rank it just below 2K11 though, because the defense was shaky at times.

3. 2K15
The game that convinced me to get a PS4. I am still going strong with my Hornets MyLeague. Smooth controls and yeah, the last patch messed with shooting, but I smoothed things out with sliders.

4. 2K16
A step below 2K15 in terms of fun factor for me. The game has grown on me since release, though, and could move up the list.

5. 2K14 (360)
An improvement from 2K13. I didn't play this a ton, though, so can't comment too much.

6. 2K13 (360)
I felt like there really was no defense in this game, routinely scoring over 110 points a game. The Jay-Z inspired presentation was a detriment, removing some items like lineup changes being shown. I did love the soundtrack though, haha. That's a lot of the music I grew up on.

NBA 2k11 was revolutionary with the classic teams, iso motions, crew.

But 2k16 is the greatest true sim basketball game ever made.

I'm starting to think that YouTube wasn't that popular back then, LOL. This game is starting to look like it had cheese that just wasn't exploited by the General Public.

Well if you look at the actual threads from around that time, all this stuff was talked about. It's all forgotten over time though...

but nah, there weren't as many guys on YT making videos like these back then...

Haven't enjoyed 2k since 2k11. Every year it gets more and more unplayable to the point where I don't even bother to spend my money on it. To arcade for me. I don't like the player movement.. I actually hate the player movement and animations.

It used to be all about simulation and realism now it's all about acrade, casual fans, and making money.

Me and my boys used to play faithfully, had tournaments and the whole nine. Now we don't even bother to play even if we have time to play, just find something else to do.
