To me, it is - also a cover.
And Fifa 11, that was just a (Fifa) game, not some try-to-be-real thing.

Hmmmmm....it would still be my GOAT for H2H online games. The shooting was so "pure", and it forced people to learn the jumpshots of their teams, and they didn't have badges to bail out players/opponents for stupid offense and defense. Stick skills and basketball knowledge really meant something then. To be fair, NBA 2K20 is a close second for me when it comes to the PNO mode minus some little things (seeing shot meter, shooting percentages, etc) here and there. NBA 2K19 was a solid game for me, but NBA 2K20 took it to another level for me.

Old heads love to champion nba 2k11 and the kids do the same for nba 2k16.

I think 2K20 is pretty definitively a better game than 2K11, so it can't be the best. However, the jump from 2K10 to 2K11 is the biggest single-year leap I've ever seen in a sports title. I grew up a March Madness/NBA Live fan, and while College Hoops 2K7 and 2K8 had started winning me over to 2K's gameplay, it was NBA 2K11 that completely won me over.

I do miss 2K11's shooting system though. I understand the idea behind green releases, and I know they're not going anywhere, but that doesn't mean I have to like them.

11 & 16 are the GOAT's of the series for me.

Had a TON of fun in 12 & 13 too, but they were a little messy, gameplay wise.

14 on PC is my favorite. 11 and 12 close 2nd. 2k13 was amazing but had too much cheese and can't block dunks. But the old engine clearly had better gameplay, deeper smarter AI and more to do without having micro transactions

NBA 2K11 was great for the time because it didn't overdo certain gameplay aspects. The game had animations where animations needed to be. Now you have all of these animations triggering off ball and it's really messing with the flow of the offense as well as team defense. You simply can't expect the A.I to make the right help decision when it's busy fumbling around in a 2 man animation sequence.

NBA 2K11 was perfect in this aspect and it flowed together wonderfully. Then the shooting mechanics in terms of release points and fades, stepbacks, and hop jumpers were all very smooth to pull off. This is missing from 19.

The moral of this story is that with 2K... Less is definitely more.

Re: NBA 2k11...is it the best 2k?

I just happened to see this thread active. I played this game last night. Fired up my 1991-92 historical roster and played with the Hornets (cpu) at Cavs (me). I just finished reading Terry Pluto's newest book, "Vintage Cavs" a couple days ago and loved the stories of the Richfield Coliseum Cavs.

I LOVE NBA 2K11!! It's the only basketball game I own. Sure, the graphics are pushing 10 years old. But I just enjoy that game to no end. IMO, it was the best effort 2K ever made, once you toned down the bumping and tweaked the sliders. It took me a good 7-8 years to get my sliders right, and also do a lot of individual player tweakings. But a ton of fun playing this game even still...

11 will always be a special game for me. The presentation and the Jordan challenge mode alone makes it that. I miss having modes like that in 2k. Lebron path to greatness was ok too. Now everything is about myplayer, mycareer, ect. Also really liked the shooting in 11, plus there were no green releases lol. I wouldn't say its the best cuz I still think 2k20 is better gamepay wise, but things like the modes still make it one of the best 2k's ever. And i'd like to see something like the Jordan challenge mode brought back to 2k one day...something focused on Kobe would be cool imo.

I was just thinking about this. To me, NBA 2K11 is like Galaga. We all know the game is graphically and mechanically outdated, but I bet there are some old heads who would still play the hell out of that game if they came across the cabinet system version.

I'll go a little farther back and say 2k7. The birth of signature styles....changed sports gaming forever.

i kept my old consoles for the old 2k games alone. I dont' want to let them go. I thank God also I can play 2k12, 13 and 14 on my PC.
