This is a system i have made for myself to make sure i always aim to get what i call an A+ contest. In my experience, if i am able to "A+ contest" a 3pt shot, it has less than a 10% chance of going in. The gameplay below will show a detail comparison of all my failed contests, mediocre contests, and A+ contests in an online game against the Warriors.

That is just not true at all for the park . Contested shots have a way higher chance than 10%.

I don't play in the park so I am not familiar. But remember tho in the video I showed different tiers of contest. So in the park even A+ tier contest will go in more than 10% ?!?!

You should start playing park lol . It's not bad though but it's more common than play now online. I'm guessing due to so many maxed 3 pointers and badges.

Yeah . Auto contest doesn't even seem to affect shots . What's the point is it just for looks ?

Contested shots on Park fall at a higher percentage simply because the difficulty level is lower in that mode.

How about they don't take away features? 2k12 they had a shot quality feedback for ALL shots, so you know if your contest was effective.

Not shocked it's gone. In 2k12 so many D and lower CPU shots went in, so instead of fixing that they just remove the ability to see what grade their shots were...

Too many times i do a strong contest right in front , they go up awkward and im thinking cool that should be a brick , NOPE, THREEEEEE

Yet constantly easy ,Wide open, nobody around to screw up, Alley friggin OOPS somehow bounce off the rim wayyyyyy too much

Its like u get rewarded for contested 3s and punished for dunks and oops

No way should i be at mercy to someone turbo sprinting from wing to wing along the 3pt line as a go to way of scoring, nobodys even trying to get layups or dunk just constant 3s , how is that even enjoyable. No crossovers no post up not even a pnr just turbo 3s all game . These people get rewarded in 2k with boosted cpu D and Offensive rebounds. Trash

Hopefully you are talking about PlayNow online or myteam. The turbo side to side 3 is an inferior unsustainable strategy, people who try that on me will wither and get blown out. What I am trying to tell you is that if your defensive systems or skill sets allow that strategy to be sustainable, you will be in trouble. You gotta improve your on ball stick skills, POE management, and defensive settings set up to snuff that stuff out. I am happy to help if you got questions, because I am sure many players on here can tell you running side to side for threes will get that guy blown out if that's his primary/sole offensive strategy.

Nah, defense in this game is just bad. It's almost as if the game can't decide on what is a good contest and what is not. Far too often I watch my guys in MC blow wide open easy shots with not so much as a finger in their face while the CPU knocks down shots with my entire team swatting at the ball.

Pham, you video demonstration shows pretty much all close out contests but what about on ball contests?

Let's say you're user on ball against an isolation play.. I find the on ball manual contest to be very slow - responsive wise the on ball contest animation triggers too slowly and innefectually.

I have to anticipate a shot going up in order to get a solid contest because if I wait to react to the shot it'll be too late. In other ways, what I'm basically saying is I will actually lose a lot of ground if I play defense using the right stick to get my hand up. The ball handler will blow by me while I'm in that crouching tiger position.
