Re: Historic Teams will be DLC

Blame the online aspects of games today - that's what the Devs appear to spend most time on, and everything else suffers as a result, so it has to get shoe horned in as DLC or simply gets nerfed in the process whilst everyone else gets to enjoy the heavily worked on network aspects.

Pretty much standard for most games today.

Gotta be honest, my anticipation has fallen through the floor now. First they give us Euro teams, now college teams - neither are NBA products. I know you guys love that stuff, That's cool, but for me personally, I buy the game because it has NBA stamped on the front. Not NCAA or Euroleague.

I guess we all get butthurt when our own personal things we want aren't included, I just wish they'd have invested the time into more NBA classic teams than Euroleague and college hoops.

Oh well, it is what it is.

Not a big DLC fan, but for 2k nba, I would pay for DLC past seasons-

All teams/all payers/every season. with era specific rules/arenas/etc,

provides revenue to 2k to cover costs, and grow their consumer base, and gives us options for any season we would want

Start with champiionship seasons for MJ/Kobe/Bron/shaq/bird/magic/etc to maximize interest, then expand for other stars' best seasons, then all seasons

People getting excited about the game become more and more monetize? Lol.

Next year we will be paying to play season 2 of mycareer.

Let's see the prices before we get excited...

Now this is something I'd invest in.

Yeah, if that was the case and we had the money to buy it, I would definitely pay extra to have this. But every team better be accurate and not halfassed like the Classic teams are now, not only better there be all real players, but the ratings and tendencies better be accurate. The way they do the classic teams and Euro teams now is a utter joke.

Re: Historic Teams will be DLC

At this point if 2K is going to put in the option for classic teams, they need to also implement the classic arenas like there were in 2K12. I would defintatly pay for DLC of the classic teams as long as they are complete teams, with there classic arenas. Also the classic teams playbooks were better and more true to life in 2K12 than they were in 2K16.

Re: Historic Teams will be DLC

If all classic teams become DLC, this will be a deal breaker for me and I’m leaving the 2k franchise. All of the modes I play involve having access to those teams. The only way I may still pay to play, is if the rosters are complete, we can edit all player ages, and the number of teams has increased significantly with teams like the Barkley Suns, Dale Ellis Sonics, Dantley Mavericks, etc.

I’m kind of tripping that people are OK paying for previously free content.

Re: Historic Teams will be DLC

I know I'd be willing to pay for the classic teams than not have them at all or continue to get half baked versions of them on here.

In all honesty, that's the only reason I even buy this game. I don't play with current teams. Don't play online, nor any of the fantasy modes. The money I spend on this game literally enables me to play with the legends - if I have to pay extra for 2k to get them right, I will.

I'd rather pay so the money can go to 2k, giving us a better legends product than have this:

Give me the Fab Five and a bench filled with generics and I'm all in!! Also they should release a historic NBA 2K separately, with more attention to the legends and courts while also allowing us to play online with the current nba 2k. I would pay the extra for a full fledged historic experience like 2k12 as long as they are passionate about getting it right.

So you think because you're paying money for DLC that you'll get better face scans than that ****ty MJ face model?

                            Yea...

                            Right.

If that were the case, I think most would agree with you. However, with respect, there's been zero evidence to suggest any of these hypothetical conditions are based in reality. I personally don't think money is what's standing between 2K and securing the rights to, say, Steve Scheffler.

If anything, I think time is their biggest enemy at this point. With a year-to-year cycle, it just feels as though the game's development has generally established parameters and attention, innovation, and renovation varies from there. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but I'm just not convinced the money they'd rake from pay wall DLC would go directly toward benefiting classics.

2K's made incredible classics before, with what I imagine to be a smaller (or at least similar) developmental budget. It can be done, and it can be a part of a game's initial price tag. As such, the only reason I can see them hiding them and releasing as DLC is as a gouging opportunity. And chances are, the proverbial Steve Schefflers will still be missing at that point and there will still be plenty of issues and imperfections, only this time we'll be paying extra for it, because we're suckers.

It will be interesting to see how players who were great in college but average in the NBA will be rated (Kwame Brown, Darko Milicic, Hasham Thebeet, Greg Oden, Sam Bowie, Bill Walton etc)
