Re: Any news on NBA historic teams?

Basically it's just players lining their pockets and stroking their ego's.

Surely with all the money they've made over their career's, a small sum for being placed in a game would't be an issue, but no. It's all about the coin with these guys, and that pisses me off. Selfish attitude. (Says the guy constantly wanting his own way with classic teams )

The problem with 2k is that they keep having to remove content due to this issue, yet don't do anything to replace the loss. Not saying they're obliged, but it would be nice if they could compensate.

We just apparently lost Steve Nash, so I would assume the Suns and Mavs will be ditched (Honestly, what's the point of having Phoenix without Steve Nash) so you'd think 2k would look to include another 2 (3 if you count the loss of the 85 Sixers) new teams to fill the void.

For a franchise that adds new stuff every year, 2k severely lack on the legends front.

All of the old school players haven't made tons of money, especially a lot of the guys from the 80s teams and older. To say someone is lining their pockets because they want compensation for their likeness being used is a strange argument. Its business. Wouldn't you want to paid? I would, especially with your name being attached to a product , helping to sell that product

I do agree that they should not add teams that incomplete.

Most of the 'bigger' stars who played probably earned more in one season than I would in years. Plus the key is, they will effectively be being paid for doing nothing - I'd gladly do it.

Are they really going to be that egotistical and turn down several thousand for literally doing nothing other than having their likeness used in a game? Pretty petty from where I'm standing.

Nash for example is worth 9 mil, and he can't reach a financial agreement with 2k just to use his face in a video game? I think that's a poor show.

        Webber - 80 mil
        Miller - 90 mil
        Barkley - 30 mil
        (All net worth)

Those guys above have issues with being PAID by a company to be in a game when they have that kind of money??? That's just ridiculous.

Anyhow, no matter how I gripe about this, it won't change. These guys are just about the dollar signs.

But i thought barkley said that money wasnt an issue in terms of 2k using his likeness That the reason why is because he doesnt like how the nba is treating their retirees because of health care?

He did indeed say that, though you could say his actual gripe is with the league, not a video game company, so I don't understand why he wouldn't just sign on the dotted line. I know it's about principles but c'mon, Chuck.

And to be honest, when they say it isn't about money, I tend not to believe it. The way Pippen and Jabbar went about their business in terms of getting an agreement with 2k says a lot. I know Pip was broke, but to be allegedly asking for MJ sort of cash.....c'mon man.

I dunno, I'm kinda getting to the stage now where I'm accepting that we just won;t get what we want in terms of the legends. Only way around this whole mess is to go back to 2k14 and play the UBR.

I feel like we're never going to get Reggie on these games, so I just accept that. I wish we could get a Philly Sixers Barkley though, and not just Dream Team version.

Reggie Miller is really the only player who hasn't stated, to my knowledge, why he won't do it. Most players, I have heard one reason or another.

For the record and to the other posters, it's their likeness. If they don't want to sell their likeness, then they don't have to. They're not obligated to anyone to do so no matter how much money they made in the past.

Damn, we sure love to count other people's money.

Michael Jordan doesnt do deals for under 10 million so obviously 2k paid him at least that much. If 2k would only pay him 9 million, is he "petty" for turning that down?

Who are you to say what an athlete should or shouldnt agree too? Who are you to say what a person should demand for use of his likeness?

This is business. 2k is going to offer what they think a person's likeness is worth. That athlete can agree or disagree and demand more. 2k then decides if its worth it to pay that much. Its not egotistical or petty. Its a negotiation. Its business.

Yeah, I guess these millionaires all need more coin, right?

All these athletes are grossly overpaid anyhow, guess milking 2k for a little more won't hurt.

Milking? Its their ****ing likeness! LOL. Its something they own.

My likeness is worth zero but if I thought it was worth $1000, you can bet I'm going to get what I want for it. It doesnt matter that I make alot more than that each year. Its something that I own and I have the right to say what I'm willing to sell or license it for.

Who are you to decide whether I or an athlete can sell something they own the rights to?

Re: Any news on NBA historic teams?

Sometimes i ask me if we know the truth about those guys because you know, for example, i remember i loved the 97 heat and for me they were stronger than the 97 Bulls, and no heat 97, Pacers 98 could destroy 98 Bulls, and no pacers 98, 96 Knicks were strong and no knicks court 96, 93 Suns were stronger than the 93 Bulls but Ceballos didn't play the final so another mistery ...
How do you want to play a game between 93 Bulls and suns if Ceballos is in the game, it is a big problem because you have to put off him if you want to make the good final
You know i love Jordan but i loved Barkley, and every player in this era and i would like to see why not Mourning or Malone win a title.

Hey mike who?? Do you remember

And yet here you are buying a game that funds the same players you think are overpaid...

This is getting uncomfortably judgemental on your part. We get it. You think the decisions of NBA players should revolve around what you want. You should let it go now.

if there is no lockout in the next few yrs i can see them phasing out the classic teams. Many of there deals with be expiring soon. Mainly Jordan , so maybe it will just end there.

I think there best bet would be to go with another Legends showcase type dlc . Or DLC bundle of specific players like Barkley & Miller and there classic teams. My not be what we want to hear , but might be the only way we get these type of players and there teams.

Hell i have been told that they have to pay for lic agreements for the use of Chicago stadium and the la forum, ala no old Boston garden or summit and spectrum. I attack them hard for half ***-ing the other retro arenas back when 2k12 came out.

i would pay alittle to get alot of these missing teams / players / arenas.
