Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
Created a 7'3" 230 lb paint protector last night.
My goodness what a player. Only have him at 71 overall at the moment, but he is long and surprisingly athletic. The best part is I maxed out his mid range at a 74, so I'm not a totally liability on offense; I can space the floor out a few extra feet and knock down open jumpers.
His standing dunk is an 81 and standing layup is a 79, so I'm fairly competent under the basket if I need to be.
His post skills max out at 71, which is fairly decent for a paint protector. Agility maxes out at 49 speed, 51 acceleration, and 39 vertical, so he will be a little slow but can at least keep up with 7 footers. Strength maxes out at a 70, which is a little low, but he can hold his own against most athletic finishers and glass cleaners. Post scorers are going to be the ones giving him problems, but even then he can use his superior length and defensive skills to slow them down.
Rebounding maxes out at 77, and I'm currently keeping up in the rebounding against glass cleaners in the park at a 53 rating.
And finally, the reason why I made this guy: defense. Defensive caps are:
41 Lateral Quickness
94 Pass Perception
94 Block
94 Shot Contest
85 Steal
94 Defensive Consistency
94 On Ball IQ
94 Pick and Roll IQ
94 Help Defense IQ
94 Low Post Defense IQ
Just a monster in every sense of the word. I have some footage from the park but for some reason my Playstation isn't allowing me to upload it to YouTube. I'll get around to copying it sometime and putting it on my computer.

Yeah I reeeeally want to make a paint protector eventually, I feel like I have the timing for good contests but since I don't play a defensive archtype I don't get the stops. Badge your guy up and every proam team will be calling your number lolCreated a 7'3" 230 lb paint protector last night.

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
I feel like 7'3 is just too slow. I made a 6'11 glass cleaner, upgraded a few agility bars to where his speed is 51 and I can literally run around 7 footers and go in for the easy dunk. This was just in 2v2 park, ive yet to play in pro am but I figure it will be even more of an advantageCreated a 7'3" 230 lb paint protector last night.

Yea you are for sure more versatile the faster you are, can guard the perimeter way better, we just have to see how cheese 7'3" centers are.I feel like 7'3 is just too slow. So I faced a 7'3 glass cleaner 88 OVR with my 6'10 athletic finisher . I have him 18 and 20. Dude was just to slow to get to the spots and I always boxed him out quicker. He blocked a few of my dunks but he only had 8 boards and 9 points.#1 Laker fan

Rockie Fresh, ok I decided after spending a bit of time with my PG playmaker, PF Post Scorer, and SG Sharpshooter.
6'3 SG Sharpshooter is the most fun for me. It's those damn mid-range shots and 3's that I love.Comment

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
I went 6'11 glass cleaner and I average 15.5 RBG and have never been outrebounded. I was scared since my matchup is almost always 7'3 and im still thinking like 2k16.
I get surprised how high I can get with a clear running jumping start, I'm well above the backboard. No regrets so far. And with max playmaking and gold break starter I have good passes out of the post, ranking second on the team with assists.
I reckon your build will be great, but an athletic glass cleaner might hurt on on the boards. I particularly like how good your passing is, If the grind wasn't so bad i'd consider one too.Comment

I don't, i want them all to suffer. This coming from someone who made two 7'3 last year. Adapt or die (7'3 are still great for certain builds though)Comment

Good news is I primarily play PF. I also maxed my playmaking . I fear your build more than 7'3 centers lolI went 6'11 glass cleaner and I average 15.5 RBG and have never been outrebounded. I was scared since my matchup is almost always 7'3 and im still thinking like 2k16.

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
lol I'm doin fine. I actually enjoy not being in the meta.
You just gotta play methodical and know where to be.
If you want to catch it on the fly and finish like prime Amare, that's not the build for you.
I think it's just taking people a long time to adapt. I feel sorry for people who made a 7'3 guy and deleted him because he 'wasn't good enough' haha. It'd be funny if nobody ran 7'3 guys at all this year, but I think if you play big like you are prime Shaq opposed to these guys who play like SFs, you will still be alright.
Just my 2c. May be totally wrong. Just gut feeling, but yea glass cleaner is v strong.
BTW I'm 7'3 340... prolly legit the slowest dude in the game haha. Speed hasn't been an issue yet. Of course people get some things on me from being faster, but I don't feel like I'm getting run out of the gym.

Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17
The 6'10 Post Scoring big I created is really fun to use in the park. Played 6 games (went 5-1, lost once they decided to completely sag off our LDD lol) and I was basically able to do everything. Only regret I have is not making my wingspan longer, couldn't contest shots as well as I would like.
