I cautioned you weeks back when you had the itch to make one lol

I forget what height you went with but you're definitely at least 6ft10 and you have strength plus the HoF badges lol I remember being advised it might be my lack of weight, height and strength lol

Paint Protectors are a tough love build. I do use mine still and enjoy it but while I do get stops: I very seldom get blocks even gimmies.. I get more steals than blocks 😔

It's tough running with and against Other non Paint Protectors and seeing them protect the rim better with swats I don't even seem to have access to lol my dude goes into his blocks very passively and with no urgency or athleticism. I also get called for fouls a lot so it's not like the 94 block rating and Rim Protector is helping to make my player more disciplined with targeting the ball clean

Being standing dunked on is one of the most frustrating things. There is literally nothing you can do but watch the animation happen.

We run with a paint protector @ center and glass clearer @ PF. The center is a better all around player, but the paint protector blocks probably twice as many shots. It is odd.

        @CBAT @ Hanzsomehanz

I get more steals as well. In fact I usually get a decent amount of block animations but it's almost always a foul to the point where I'm literally only good for putting my hands up.

On my athletic finisher I can block all the time with hardly any fouls called.

Hands up works great , some games , but this really limits this build. Other games I'm getting scored on even with hands up by sharpshooters in the paint.

I freaking loved my Lockdown so I thought a paint Protector would be awesome.

          Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17

I want to build a LDD PG who can work in the high post.

Question about upgrading post ability: If I max my post to 71, will I be able to hit post fadeaways with range?? Does anything else tie into this such as mid range or shot off dribble?

I have a SG slasher with 60 post, 77 shot off dribble and 54 mid range (lol). I can hit those post fades consistently from just outside the key. When I tested my LDD PG @ 60 post, he wasn't hitting those shots as much. At 71 post, I was hoping to extend my range on post fades to the free throw line and up.

                No, you won't.

at least, my LDD SF with 71 post doesn't. he can hit them sometimes, but he's far to be consistent.

                  I have a 6ft3 200 Slashing PG

This is a very fun and dominant build for me in Park providing I use a Playmaking boost every game. The Playmaker boost allows me to more effectively play the drive and kick role. It also betters my ability to create my own look in isolation.

If you want to dunk on opponents, you have to understand the game of momentum and burst that factors into dunks. A lot of Slashing and non Slashing builds simply don't trigger intense dunks because they don't have enough momentum and burst created going towards the paint and then second to that: they are holding the shoot button and leaving the dice roll completely up to 2k to decide what animation to trigger.

I recommend learning how to use the shot stick for your dunks. Every direction of the right stick including the diagonal directions will trigger unique driving dunks. It's tough to really practice outside of willingly having an opponent stand under the rim. You can actually get a lot of opportunities in My Career on Rookie but it's much easier to dunk in there than Park and Pro Am so it can be a bit misleading. It would still give you some confidence in how to trigger different dunks which is part of the process.

Creating the Slasher build is not as easy and efficient as having a Sharpshooter or Stretch Big. There is a lot more user responsibility with this build. The dunk won't always be there and so it's good to factor in a floater, spin layup, off the dribble shot and even a standing 3 shot.

The worst PG Slashers are those single mindedly obsessed with dunks and the right opponent will play them at just the right depth to take away those opportunities. Especially a Slasher who can't dribble effectively: he is basically limited to catching the ball in stride to the rim. Without a Playmaking boost: I'm unable to outright (efficiently) beat my man and it then suits me more to play off ball. I would've made a Wing Slasher or Athletic Finisher if I wanted to primarily play off ball lol.

It's not a build I recommend for Pro Am, the Slashing PG, they are too easy to contain as the primary ball handler without a PLYMKR boost. A Playmaker PG is far superior and ideal on the Pro Am scene.

I second that. I believe a playmaker Pg is better for pro am as well.

That was actually a lot more informative than I was expecting, so thank you for that! I'll mainly play pro am with it, but I'm not obsessed with dunking on people. I'm all about paint touches, as I understand how to play the game. I'm cool with euro's, hop steps, floaters, spin lay ups, etc.

I've already started making him but I'm just wondering if I should try elsewhere. I have a playmaking point guard and I'm somewhat effective with him, but I can't really find a reliable jumper and playmakers struggle to score around the rim, so I figured being a slasher would allow me to play at the rim and actually give me a scoring style rather than speed boost around my opponent or using a dribble move to try and get a mid range shot. I also understand the slasher has 80 shot off dribble, so I was thinking I could use that in the mid range area and corner 3's.

I'm not necessarily looking for the BEST archetype, but just wondering if you believe a slashing point guard at 6'4 can be effective.

Trying to create one because my favorite players are Westbrook and Wade. lol
And at this point I'm mainly playing walk on because getting park rep is more important than ranking up my pro am team.

So i edited my post scorer to make him look like Lamarcus Aldridge. Now i'm just trying to figure out which post fade Aldridge actually uses in this game. does anyone know?

Considering your points: I think youll be okay because you have a clear vision of what you want to accomolish. You also already have a Playmaker for comparison.

You should be a force in transition with HOF One Man Fast Break. Definitely max your 3s and Off the Dribble Shot.

                                Good luck out there!
